"I really like the DU-1181N. I am a DIYer, hobbyist and will use it for my projects and home stuff. So far it is great. The price was fair for the DU-1181N, the stand with wheels, and the needle positioner. As far as the $.99 shipping, I got what I paid for. Shipping from Kalifornia to Pennsylvania was a long trek for the boxes. The Juki box was well packed with foam from the factory and arrived in good shape. The table box arrived like a cardboard sack of banging steel parts very beat-up, holes, etc. I saw online someone posted the pics of their machine and tables arrival from the seller in Chicago and the table box had additional tape plus caution labels to keep the box standing up during shipping. The box shipped to me was laid down, crushed, rolled over, crushed again, was not a pretty pic. I spent a little time in the garage tweaking the bends and dents out of the frame members. Paint and plastic have multiple dents, scratches, and marks. Goldstar kindly worked out a settlement with regards to the shipping damage. They replaced the broken plastic drawer and the plastic kickstand. The table box did not come with any shipping/parts list or instructions. The motor unit had some helpful instructions. I used that and online videos to get me through the assembly process. The hardware in the needle positioner kit did not fit my Juki. With the amount of time communications might take and the difficulty I anticipated it would take to solve the issue, I opted to make my own hardware for the positioner to get sewing sooner.
The folks at Goldstar were all very friendly and courteous. It was fairly easy to get hold of someone by phone or email. Feed back and replies were sometimes quick, sometimes needed a second follow-up email a week later.
The user's manual that Juki has online is difficult to follow because they bunch up 5 or 7 language translations in every section. If you can cut out all but the language you use and put it back together, then it is much easier to follow. "
