"I bought an Eames Lounge chair replica and it was beautiful. Looks aside, this chair is very functional, it has a slight tilt perfect for lounging. The cushions are interchangeable so if the seat ever wears out, I can change it with the ottoman's cushion. The chair is super comfortable which is what I would expect from memory foam.
I was very impressed with the velcro and zippers used to hold the chair together, unlike other companies I've come across which uses clips. I live in the midwest and the chair I was told comes from NJ. It took only 5 days to arrive after I ordered it.
The leather is so gorgeous and so is the veneer. They also sell all the classics from the midcentury like the Arco lamp, LC collection, womb chair, etc.
I strongly recommend buying midcentury replicas from here, especially if you're on a budget."
"If I could give NO stars I would. Terrible company!!! TERRIBLE!!
Chinese products at its worse! I ordered an Arco Lamp. Before I did it I had several phone calls with their so called sales department - there is not one really, because this is a ONE man shop! - But anyway, I discussed my concerns extensively with the sales person. I had her write an email with all the specifications to confirm that the lamp I was ordering was the exact replica of the original Arco Lamp.
As soon as I placed my order I received an email saying the product I had just paid for was not available and if I did not want to wait 8 weeks to get what I ordered I could have the black marble base lamp, as opposed to the white marble that I had ordered, for a discount price. Of course I said no. I wanted the white lamp.
After numerous phone calls and emails I decided to take the black marble lamp because they refused to cancel my order, even though I had placed it less then 24 hours earlier because what I had ordered was not available!
I had them send an email and confirm that I was getting an identical copy of the original lamp in black marble.
I paid a fortune to ship the lamp to my home in the Bahamas. Both on shipping and on duty.
When I opened the box I had a shock! The base was made of CONCRETE, badly painted in black to emulate marble!
I called them right away.
SO far No apologies. NO refunds. NO nothing.
DO NOT deal with this company they are conmen in disguise! Should not be allowed to do business

"beware!! do not buy anything from them! especially an eames lounge chair! you will thank me!
every single person that works here is a joke! there's not 1 professional employee here that actually follows through with what they say. i purchased an eames lounge chair about 1 year ago and as soon as i received it i noticed a big discolored circle on the top back rest wood area. it stands out pretty bad. i immediately contacted their imaginary customer service and they assured me i would receive a replacement in 4-6 weeks. well its been a year and they don't even respond to my emails. i asked for the original customer service lady that was helping me and they told me she didn't work there anymore. i spoke to another "customer service" person by the name of john colt and he said my replacement never came from china so i would have to wait another 4-6 weeks. called back after 2 months of not hearing from anyone and what do you know, he doesn't work there anymore either! then i speak to another employee named ronnie i believe. he tells me nothing came in for me so he would have to order another replacement and also guaranteed me a phone call on monday to confirm everything. well what do you know, no one called me! i call back and they say he doesn't work there anymore either! this place is a damn joke. my 5 year old is more capable of hiring quality employees. the turn over rate here is worse then a used car dealership. so last week i call again and this girl answers and says she's gonna make sure "customer service" takes care of this problem. i spend about 20 minutes on the phone with her explaining everything. she says, "i will call you on monday with an update, please tell me your phone number". i say "are you sure you're gonna call me?" she says yes guaranteed. well im writing this review on wednesday morning and i still haven't heard back from her. also, no one has even responded to my email.
learn from my mistake and buy from someone else. you might get lucky here but why take a chance. if you get something defective or with issues, they will not honor their word and just give you the, "we have to order it from china and it takes 4-6 weeks for our containers to come in" spiel. then they won't call you and next thing you know its been a year and they have a completely new staff that isn't capable of much. do not be fooled by the reviews on google.
"everything" they sell is made and direct from china. most other websites selling these pieces of furniture get it from the same place! the eames chair sounds like its gonna crack when you lean back. absolutely no tilt or give whatsoever. its like a metal chair. the wood veneer on the ottoman is chipping on corners. its literally falling off. the rim of the wood veneer that goes around the leather on the chair and ottoman is discolored and not in a natural way. it looks like crap! this is more like a $300 chair including shipping at best! my advice is save your money and buy the real deal or buy a replica for under $500 so that way you could just throw it away after a few years if it starts falling apart like this one.
* Today is Feb 5th 2015. I will be updating my review on any progress or lack there of. I just sent them multiple emails.
*Feb 8th 2015 Update - Still NO CALL BACK OR EMAIL RESPONSE FROM MANHATTAN HOME DESIGN. I have sent them about 15 emails since my Feb 5th review and NOTHING YET, NO RESPONSE AT ALL. I called on Friday (Feb 6th) and spoke to a sales girl that said her name was Jeonne or something with a J. I asked why she didn't call me back on Monday as she guaranteed me and she said she "Couldn't find my order #". I said "Oh really and you couldn't call me back cause of that? Didn't I give you my cell number 3 times?" She had nothing to say in response. Completely silence. I asked what its gonna take to get a Manager to call me back? She said she would "Email the customer service department for me" because apparently they are in another location according to her. I asked if she could just give me the direct number to customer service and she said "There is no number". I have to email them. I said "I've been emailing them for 1 year now! 15 emails in the last month! How much more should I email them?? She stood in silence again.
THIS PLACE WILL RIP YOU OFF ONCE YOU PAY THEM. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING FROM THESE CROOKS! IF THERE'S ANYTHING WRONG WITH YOUR PURCHASE THEY WILL NOT DO ANYTHING FOR YOU AND WILL COMPLETELY TRY TO AVOID YOU. I SENT THEM MESSAGES DIRECTLY THROUGH YELP, GOOGLE PLUS AND THEY STILL WON'T ANSWER ME. I HOPE BY ME BEING RIPPED OFF THAT YOU DON'T MAKE THE SAME MISTAKE. THE ONLY PEOPLE THEY SEEM TO CARE ABOUT ARE THE PEOPLE THAT CAN WALK INTO THE STORE AND LOOK AT THEM IN THE FACE. IF YOU BUY FROM THEM ONLINE WHERE YOU CANT IMMEDIATELY WALK INTO THE STORE THEY WILL TRY TO SCREW YOU.
THERE'S A NAME FOR PEOPLE LIKE THIS, COWARDS!"
"I requested a full refund on the 7/17/14 via email since getting someone to answer the phone is impossible. It's been eleven days and I'm still w/out my refund. They're charging me a cancellation fee when I have proof via fedex that the item had never even shipped at the time I requested a refund. And then they had the nerve to reply to my email mentioning my place of work specifically and demanding that I remove my previous negative review. I'm sure the police would consider that a form of intimidation and a violation of my privacy as a consumer. Perhaps they should spend more time on how to professionally run a business and less time googling and stalking their customers. Stay away from this poor, shady excuse for a business."
"The reviews here are, or super positive or super negative, let me tell you this, the products and the store is good, is heavenly good, BUT the mail, damn, they dont care for our stuff, they just trow it right on the van. As for the products, i got an ottoman, its a very very nice product, FOR the price, the leather its good, the chair is nicely made, the customer service its nice, they are not amazon, but please dont compare them, they are kind, and answer all my questions, you have to be patient, but overall it was a good experience, and the chair is here in nice shape. would buy again."
"Whatever you do, do NOT order from here. They have NO customer service - I ordered something over two months in advance and only after I sent FOUR emails did they finally respond a week later saying that my items were now going to ship two months after they were originally supposed to. They have ignored my emails and requests for a direct phone line to speak to a manager. Pretty sure I am being scammed. Read their Yelp reviews and do not let MHD tell you they're fake reviews. Do not support this business!"
"I once applied for a job here. I didn't get it because I was not 18 years old. Needless to say, I didn't care once I saw the office. It was about 200 square feet. I know I had a lot more experience than anyone working there, especially as they were looking for someone to help with their GSA orders. God help us if this place ever gets a GSA contract. The only thing the government cares about is cheapness. I know for a fact that everything is made in China which is probably why everyone complains that everything fell apart almost out of the box. Of course they didn't want to hire someone in their 40's who might actually have done a good job (I see customer service is a big complaint here).
This place should be the poster child for what has gone horribly wrong with our country."
"I bought the replica Eames Lounge Chair & Ottoman from Manhattan Home Design about two weeks ago, after a lot of research. I went to their showroom and tested it out (I live in Brooklyn, NY) and got a piece of the leather form them to check out and was pretty impressed. I asked them loads of questions about it in person and by email and they were pretty helpful. Eventually I went for it and it arrived the next day (!), all in one box. Everything was really well packaged and I put it together pretty easily, so no problems there.
A couple of notes on the chair itself: I regularly sit on a Herman Miller Eames lounge chair (at work; I can't afford one for my apartment) so I know what it's like - the MHD version is aesthetically very close. The cushions are firmer than the Herman Miller one (although I guess they'll break in a bit over time) and the back of the chair has less flex than the Herman Miller one, so when you sit in it, it doesn't absorb you quite like the Herman Miller. The swivel is pretty good, it stays where you leave it, as it should, although there is a bit a of give in the mechanism that isn't there on the Herman Miller (if you move you weight side to side when you're sitting in it, the chair moves side to side a bit whereas the Herman Miller one is rock solid). The brackets holding the two sections of the chair's back together are made of metal (not plastic) and the plastic so-called 'shock mounts' seem to resemble the ones on the curent production Herman Miller pretty closely, as long as they hold up over time. The feet on the ottoman and the chair are Vitra-style, not Herman Miller, which personally I think look better. The leather is nice, it's real leather and smells like it which is great. The cushions fit moulded plywood pretty well - not totally flawlessly like the Herman Miller, but it's pretty damn good.
I've taken a star off the overall experience because as much as I was verbally assured that MHD operate a 'satisfaction guarantee' policy, there was a small defect in the chair's seat cushion - a small amount of stuffing is coming out from under one of the buttons. It's by no means a big deal, but I contacted them about it and they said I could ship that cushion to the manufacturer and ask for a replacement. Clearly, they weren't going be involved any further whereas I was under the impression that that guarantee was to cover things like this. I won't be shipping the cushion anywhere because it's relatively minor flaw and I dont want to have the chair unusable for a few weeks while I deal with it.
I left this slightly overly-detailed review because it was hard to find good, honest ones when I was looking! Hope this helps. Overall, it's a pretty nice chair (so far, it's been two weeks...) and it blows the old Plycraft repros and others like them out of the water, if you ask me."
"I purchased one of Manhattan Home Design’s Eames Office Chairs, which is an Eames Chair replica of the original 1958 the original Charles Eames Chair, which was a mid-century modern classic. The modern office chair is so comfortable as its made from Italian leather and has good suspension. Manhattan Home Design’s Eames Office Chairs has been reproduced to nearly exactly the same design specifications as the original Charles Eames Chair. I was more than pleased with the customer service, which was very efficient as was the delivery process. I would definitely order from Manhattan Home Design again and I'd recommend them."
"Manhattan Home Design is a total scam. I purchased an Eames Lounge Chair that broke 2 weeks later. Turns out the brackets that hold the chair together are made out of cheap plastic. I contacted customer service and they sent out another Eames Lounge Chair assuring me that they've never heard of that problem before. The replacement chair breaks 5 days later.
At this point, I just want a refund, because it's clear that the chairs are a total fraud. However, in order for a refund I apparently have to spend $500 shipping BOTH chairs back, disassembled.
Complete. SCAM."
"Ordered the Eames Lounge chair and ottoman in December 2010. Very pleased with the quality of the product and costumer service. Will order again....
Many thanks,
ST"
"Don't fool yourself in thinking you are buying a high-end design item on the cheap. You just can't get away fro getting what you pay for. You MUST sacrifice quality in materials and workmanship, there just sin't any way around it. My Eames chair arrived with split veneer, and one arm rest was significantly higher than the other. The leather and padding were stiff and not supple. Looks good but if you accept the premise of getting what you pay you might find the stuff acceptable. "
"Shipped on time,Packaging was OK. The lamp it self had a significant flaw. There were screws to hold the arms together that were too long and screwed into the wire and created a direct short!! Very dangerous. I had to rewire the arm with new wire I believe significant liability for the manufacture or your selves! "
"I purchased the Womb chair, I love it, it is so comfortable and I got it for such a great price thanks to the coupon I got from Manhattan Home Design. I was very satisfied with the customer service and I am sure I will make further purchases in the future."
"From the point of placing my order online to delivery, I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience shopping with Manhattan Home Design. The Arco lamp I ordered arrived in less than a week after placing my order. It is absolutely beautiful and a fraction of the price I would expect to pay at stores like DWR. I would (and have) strongly recommended Manhattan Home Design to others and anticipate ordering from you in the future. Thank you. Tyger L. "
