"I have bought 3 items from monoprice which I had thought was synonymous with quality. But 2 items failed and one item never worked out of the box. The problem is, if you want to return the item (even a defective one), you have to pay for return shipping and they will not refund the initial shipping charge either. I bought a $15 item, paid $8 for shipping and it would have cost me $5 to ship it back. It simply was not worth it.
The other item I bought (a powered HDMI splitter for $30 and change including shipping) failed within 8 months. They did replace it under warranty but I had to pay for return shipping. The replacement also failed, one month after the warranty expired. They would not do anything for me and refused to stand behind their product.
After much arguing, they most they offered to do was give me a $1 discount off buying yet a 3rd splitter. But if 2 failed, I would assume the 3rd will as well."

"I ordered the wrong quantity of an item on an order the day before, but there is no option on the monoprice site to "modify order" like there is on amazon, so right away I sent an email to ask them to modify the order. However, it was Sunday night so there was no one there to address my email. Monday morning I opened up a chat with Victoria M., but she informed me that since the order had already been processed in their warehouse, it was too late to add an item to it. The only thing I could do was to place a new order for that one item and incur another shipping charge. Victoria kindly offered to give me a discount on the shipping of the new order, which was $4 off the $25.61 shipping charge. Not that much, but better than nothing and after all, it was my mistake. Also, I made the suggestion that monoprice add in a "modify order" option similar to what amazon has had for a while, and she said she would forward the suggestion to their team. Overall, it was a positive experience and I will continue to recommend monoprice. The ability to have an online chat with customer service is something I really like too - I find it much better than waiting on the phone."
