"Ordered a Claro DR sim card with extra data for Dominican Republic trip. Got the card with instructions in time - no issues here.

Upon arrival tried to activate the card as per instructions - didn't work (USSD codes resulted in all kinds of obscure error messages in Spanish). Used hotel WiFi to get in touch with MrSimcard, so after a lot of trial and error (at least 3 different codes tried) they declared it a success and data started flowing.

After about 15Mb of data spent (measured on my broadband modem) data stopped working. Again, back and forth with the company, different codes tried, simcard repeatedly switched from the phone to modem and back. Ultimately they gave me another code that resulted in "more data" allocated.

About 15 Mb later, the data stops again. You know the drill by now... Half an hour later they declare that my money on the card has all been used up.

I am not trying to imply it was they who they cheated me out of almost 900Mb of data, but the whole point of using the intermediary instead of going directly to Claro DR was to avoid all nuisances setting up a temporary data plan locally. Which is exactly what they failed to do instead happily pointing fingers at Claro and declaring that it was not their problem.

Bottom line: don't bother with them. Get yourself a plan locally."
