"I've been a Newegg customer for 20+ years. I have purchased numerous motherboards, CPUs, hard drives and other items during this time. Recently, I bought a 6TB WD60EZAZ hard drive which arrived DOA. It was poorly packaged in a bubble wrap "envelope" that did not completely surround the drive. As a result, I am sure that it slammed the inside of the box numerous times during transit. I received a further TWO replacements and all were packaged in the same way, and all were DOA. I finally opted for a refund and have purchased the same drive from Amazon.
I will never buy another hard drive from Newegg. They used to be packaged in such a way that the drive was "suspended" inside the box and could never make contact with it. Not sure whose idea this "cost saving" measure was, but it has to be costing Newegg. Plus, it's frustrating for the customer. To add to the frustration, the second drive was shipped "UPS Mail Innovations" which dramatically slowed down the replacement process. Fortunately, the third drive was sent UPS all the way, and it arrived much sooner.
Newegg service is always good. They haven't once balked about returning the faulty drives at their expense nor about issuing a refund. I have called twice and spoken to someone, imploring them to package the hard drives more securely but I don't think the warehouse gets the feedback. I am writing this review in the hopes that someone will take notice."
