Pictureframes.com has a peculiar system of calculating frame and mat sizes in which they take the measurements the customer provides and then subtract 1/8 inch on all sides for overlap - apparently assuming the customer doesn't have the wits to factor in an overlap without help. I wish they had clearly stated that they would be doing this - the finished size of my frame was 1/4 inch too small as a result. Fortunately, my watercolor had a generous border so it wasn't a disaster. But it very easily could have been..."
