"Soft Surroundings' on-line returns and customer service is the worst I have ever dealt with. I bought a dress on sale. I wore it only once and washed only once according to the manufacturer's instructions. Upon close inspection after washing, I found a frayed place on the sleeve. When I contacted their customer service I was told I could not return it or get a refund because I had washed it. They offered to give me a $25 discount or a $22 price adjustment. Really?? Their customer service said their number one goal is to make sure that I are thrilled with my purchase from Soft Surroundings citing their "gracious 365 day return policy", however couldn't offer it to me because I had washed the garment. Really?? Like another dissatisfied reviewer, Beverly H on 1/14/17 said, "customer service is nonexistent." I would advise not wasting your time or money purchasing anything from this company."
"Oh no... I had just spent $275.00 on the phone with SS since the shirt that I wanted is only available via phone purchase. The number that the website gave me is ***-***-**** and the purchase was the Linen Button up shirt and I ordered 3 of them altogether. The person who answered my orders were speaking with a very thick accent and I hope he's a legit person from the company... So far, I have not receive my confrmation emai yet. I wished that I had read the reviews before making my purchase.. Crossing my fingers now.."
"I would absolutely NOT shop with soft surroundings. My grandmother will be celebrating her 93rd birthday this Sunday and I wanted to get her something really special to wear. She could care less about what she wears but because we were having a big birthday party for her at the nursing home she wanted something special to wear. Unfortunately for her, she fell in love with an outfit from soft surroundings. I received a catalog in the mail from this company and showed it to her. I had never bought anything from this company and was concerned that I wouldn't get the outfit in time so I called and spoke to a customer representative. I was assured if I paid all the fees and paid by credit card there would be no problem. So I went ahead and paid for everything I even bought an outfit for myself for the occasion. Well, needless to say the order didn't come the next day. I called and was lied to and told that my credit card didn't go through in time to get the order out. I checked with my credit card company and THERE WAS NO PROBLEM!!! The transaction went through w/o anything having to be done again. I knew it went through immediately because I received a text as soon as I placed the order. My credit card company does this to prevent fraud. I would never have placed this order if they would have told me the truth that I wouldn't get it in time. They could have cared less that I didn't get what I was promised. This was a $385.00 order and I went to the extra effort of confirming before I purchased that I would get this order in time. Telling my grandmother is the worse thing. She didn't want me to spend $198.00 just for her outfit but I could tell how much she liked it when she saw it. I wanted her to have it and wear it proudly!! The company could have fixed this if they cared. I didn't need this outfit till Sunday. I placed the order on Thursday expecting to get it on Friday. They could have paid extra for Saturday delivery. Instead, they just lied to me and tried to blame my card company for the reason they couldn't keep their promise to me. I'm so tired of these companies lying and blaming others for their poor performance. Spend your hard earned money somewhere else than with this company. They don't care to keep their promises to you or your money. Save yourself the trouble and don't shop here they don't care at all."
"I am a frequent on-line shopper since we live in a rural area. I purchase pet items, ceramic supplies, jewelry, bed and bath linens, specialty food items, small appliances and lots of apparel. I love clothes – shoes and purses and lingerie and dresses and pants and tops – oh my!!. The nearest shopping mall is a six hour round trip which is a long way for a fashion loving woman to travel to get her fashion fix. Overall my experience has been favorable, the items have met my expectations and the customer service has been helpful. However, I just purchased several items from Soft Surroundings and paid an extra $7.95 for 2nd day delivery for a total of $27.90 shipping (as opposed to the 2 to 4 days for $19.95). The shipping was for $244.80 in merchandise. The vendor provided on-line tracking through FedEx which showed my package sitting in Houston, TX for three days. After 8 business days, I called “customer service” twice to inquire. They claimed that they had only the information that was available on the FedEx web site and had no ability to provide any more information. On the second call, I had more information, and requested a trace be put on the package. I was informed that I would need to wait 7 – 10 business days for a trace, even on a 2nd day shipment. After I explained that it was 8 business days (one day past the 7 days), the “customer service” representative backtracked and told me it would be 10 days before they would issue a trace. Also during that call I learned that one of the items was overcharged by $20.00. I had a copy of my order right in front of me. They have agreed to credit my card for the $20.00 but based on my experience, I will not hold my breath. There are excellent on-line retailers out there and many even offer free shipping if you spend a minimum amount. Unfortunately, Soft Surroundings does not appear to be one of them – poor customer service. "
