Elite seals are prestigious banners given to retailers who are loved by their customers. To get one, a retailer has to consistently get high scores over time
"Lost over $1,600.00 through gunbroker my first time using them. About 10 days after I won my bid and sent payment I got a email saying that the transaction was most likely fraudulent. The seller was verified through gun broker. It’s been months and still haven’t got one penny back. I will never use this company again. Customer service is nonexistent! I would give zero stars if possible!"
Way too intrusive to register, reading the reviews here...
"... makes me wonder how well all the intrusive "anti-fraud" measures are working out. I saw there is a charge to register if you use certain email services, and another fee if you plan to sell there. That of course presumes you have already given them your date of birth so they can basically run a credit inquiry on you to verify your identity. It's been described as the "eBay of gun sales", but even eBay is nowhere near as intrusive.
On top of all of this, I see guns listed for way more than other sites that are NOT so intrusive. $900 for a Glock 30 that sells for around $550 at other sites? Yeah, right."
"Paid for a listing what I sold and when I asked for a copy…..crickets! I have emailed them 10 times and …. Crickets!
I am through with Gunbroker. Anything has got to be better than this.
You asked for an invoice, there is at least a hundred I can’t get info on. Invoice is random from those."
"When they began unnecessarily collecting sales taxes and their 1% “compliance” fee, I dumped them especially when the majority of the sellers couldn’t tell me where these sales taxes went to. We/they surmised GB had found a new revenue stream as the sellers aren’t responsible to submit the ST to anyone! Many other gun auctions and selling sites out there, I’ve dumped GB and I hope their business really suffers…"
Gunbroker has no support, no phone number, no chat, nothing.
"2 non paying customers at the end of last year bought things and I was charged for the commission and one was cancelled by gunbroker due to fraudulent account but the other just ghosted. Opened a credit request for non paying customer, no way of tracking and no response from anybody. Still got charged though, they have all of my information to contact. There is no support and luckily I didn't ship the firearm under the suspicion that something was wrong. I paid for posting and commission without selling anything and no support. Not using gunbroker ever again. Hope some other person starts something better. Until then, its Gun stores and gun ranges for posting things. Good Luck"
Non-Existent Customer Service and Sketchy Transactions with -0- Protection
"As literally everyone else has pointed out, GunBroker's customer service is nearly non-existent. They don't have a phone number, they don't have a live chat, and any email you send them is either completely ignored and never responded to, or you will hear from them a week later with a generic response that isn't helpful or even accurate in my case. Their registration process is ridiculously long and confusing. They keep telling you that "this is the last step" or "you are now ready to sell!" and then when you actually hit "sell now" suddenly you have another step in the process to complete... I've been trying to register for 2 weeks now and still haven't finished... Lastly, after researching more, I don't think I even want to sell on GunBroker... Horror stories GALORE of people getting scammed by both sellers and buyers. Gunbroker offers -0- support and -0- protection or recourse. Basically, you are completely on your own so be very careful when conducting a transaction. Gunbroker basically charges you a bunch of money for the privilege of listing your gun on their site. And that's as far as their service goes..."
Totally Useless and zero customer service or contact
"I can't rate the buying or selling experience because I have spent a week trying to get my account verified to even be able to buy, Identity verification failed because it "couldn't properly see my face" I email customer support and sent the required documents, days passed with no response, so I sent the documents to a different email listed on their website and days later still nothing. at this point I'm afraid to buy anything if they ever do approve my account because apparently customer service is non existent"
"I have bought/ sold through GB for a while. Never had an issue- sales went smoothly. On 9/14/21 bought 'in stock' rifle through a seller in IN. Thought GB would be similar to e-bay for gun buyers. Money taken out of my account immediately. Watched the progress through GB and that stopped at waiting proper FFL paperwork etc. E-mailed seller at least 5 times with no response. Contacted GB through help section asking what 'buyers rights' were and that they weren't returning calls. Relatively quickly received automatic response with useless links not answering issue. I e-mailed back it doesn't help. I did see, however, that seller's aren't required to respond (really?). Never got back to me other than they received my response. Seller difficult to reach by phone- usually busy- but if it rang and no answer- no voicemail. Did finally reach them and they said that 3 of the guns (a very difficult to come by Henry) were rusted, had to be returned and they expected them "any day." Told them to keep me updated- and they promised. Never heard anything. Finally decided to cancel order. Again, after several attempts, was able to reach them. No apology but did get money back- relatively quick. As of right now GB still has the same thing posted on the order- Waiting for FFL...."
"We followed all the guidelines listed on the Gunbroker website and the prospective buyer still backed out, but after the allotted time. Gunbroker went ahead and billed us for their commission, as well as the sales tax, even though we have sent repeated messages explaining the sale never went through. They are terrible."
No Customer Support, allows Scams with no buyer protection
"I purchased a sp5 from a user amalousek, Andrew Malousek with 90 positive feedback and an A+ rating, only to have them not ship the item and ignore me after payment on 9/4/21. They were a verified member as well. Gun Broker states that, "A Verified Member is a member who passed our extended user verification security screening. This distinction lets buyers and sellers know they are dealing with a user who has passed the GunBroker.com verification process." I received an email 2 days after the auction ended on 9/7/21 that the transaction may be fraudulent after I have already paid. I assumed that with the user being verified, along with their feedback, it was a safe buy. I am now out $3000.
I have used this site since 2017, I have seen Gun Broker as a safe marketplace and never had issues going off a user’s feedback and the fact they are verified, until now. I have spent thousands on the site and think it is ridiculous that I cannot trust the safeguards provided by the site. Especially the user verification. If this was a new user I would not have made the purchase. $3000 is a lot to loose especially when you are dealing with an established account and under the assumption you are dealing with a legitimate seller.
I reached out to my bank to attempt a charge back but do not expect that to be successful. The account is no longer registered but it still shows as verified. Gun Broker will not offer a full refund like eBay does so there is no buyer protection. The most you can receive is $400 after filing a claim with them if you are luck enough to get a response. They have no phone number so I have yet to hear from them since I have replied to the warning email.
Digging deeper I found that the seller reposted the item immediately after selling it multiple times. (Why is this allowed) I seen other sellers do this as well so I am sure I am not the only one who has experienced this.
After experiencing this scam and encountering shill bidding I will no longer use or recommend Gun Broker, the potential deals are not worth the headache."
"I listed 2 guns on my new account and had bids on one of them. Before my first listings expired they cancelled my account for what they called "fraudulent activity" or old account information. They offer no phone support and you have to be a "Gold" member or some such nonsense to even be able to chat with someone. As a result, you are left with email as the only option to communicate with them. Well, I have emailed them FIVE TIMES now and have failed to receive a response at all. Today, I finally got a response which was limited to updating my credit card info, which was up to date in the first place, but I CAN'T ACCESS MY ACCOUNT TO CHECK IT AND CHANGE, IF NECESSARY, BECAUSE THEY HAVE LOCKED ME OUT!!!! For some reason, the mentally challenged personnel in "customer support" have failed to comprehend this fact that I have reminded them of several times. So, I thought I would open a fresh account with new information and they have BLOCKED THAT ACCOUNT, TOO, BECAUSE IT IS ASSOCIATED WITH THE OTHER BLOCKED ACCOUNT!. What a bunch of imbeciles. There has to be a better provider of this service than Gun Broker because, simply put, they are the worst."
"Gunbroker ****. I was a member for over 8 years, bought many items and sold over 250. Than they locked my account because there system would not take my charge card. The same card they have been using for years. I contacted them over 10 times with no response besides their automate email response. What a way to treat people. Someday when they go out of business, and they will, they can reflect on how they treated people."
If you ever have a problem you will never get help
"Customer service is a Joke, I have never talked to a person through any form of email chat phone anything. tried every way to contact them. In response, I get a link asking me to pay for a membership package to get support. If everything goes good its fine but if you have a problem you are on your own! BEWARE you must protect yourself. I had a seller contact me after I bought the item he told me he wanted to relist because gun prices have gone up and he wanted more money for the item. He relisted so I left negative feedback, Gunborker took down my feedback and still do not know WHY."
"This site claims to have buyer protection. After repeated emails and form submissions I got ZERO response from Gunbroker. Be warned as a buyer that there is zero protections that you will be get the product at all. I would not spend more then your willing to risk. Their rating system prevents you from rating the seller after 3 weeks. So if you never get the product you can't give a bad rating."
