WF is full of lies. He has lied to me for 2 months. This company needs to be reported to the better business bureau. I see everyone is having the same problems with this company. I sent them my computer 2 months ago. He has told me lie after lie about how my computer will be sent out this date and that day. I finally was told my computer was sent out. The next time I talked to him he said that he will check on the tracking #
He got back on the phone and told me the computer wasnt sent yet. He told me that he will send it out on Monday. I called tuesday for a tracking # He gave me a tracking # and have been waiting for my computers arrival. I tried locating it online with the tracking # he gave me and it is an invalid #. Imagine that.
I am hoping that others who read this message will heed my warning and others to STAY AWAY unless you are looking for some more DRAMA in your life. As of this date 2 months after I sent them my computer still havent received my computer. Sent it to them to repair cracked LCD. I took it apart It took me all of 5 minutes to do. I sent them the computer with all the screws out and the LCD just needs to be lifted out. I wish I would of went with my first instint was too send them just the broken screen so I could just install the new one. Now I am without a screen or a computer and $395 the check cleared in less than a week of them receiving it. will keep you updated on this information. I talk to this guy almost daily or try to if I am not getting a message machine.
Sept 2 reported portablecomputer.com to BBB in sacramento and CA electronics and repair licensing board who I am hoping will find will help me in this situation.

"BEWARE of PortableComputer.com! They repair laptop computers and also sell a product line of laptops. Before I sent my computer in for repair they assured me that they had all the necessary parts and gave me an estimate of $125 as a maximum repair fee for the problem I had described and they promised a return ship date that was a week after they had received it. I had to pay before they would commence the repair. When they received it, they told me I needed a new motherboard and the cost would now be $315. They never repaired it even though I was promised many ship dates as if it was just about finished. They finally admitted after having it for 6 weeks that it was not repaired and offered to return it and refund my money. Since then, that have promised me many dates that they were going to return ship my computer and my refund. All LIES. It seems as if I have lost my $315 + $20 shipping fee and my laptop computer. If you want more information, I have kept copies of our correspondence.
Follow-Up I finally received my computer on Friday, July 29. I was told a full refund of my $315 would be included with the computer. I sent it in for a keyboard repair. Now NOTHING WORKS on the computer. No display, nothing. It powers up; I get a BIOS beep and that's it. THE REFUND CHECK WAS NOT INCLUDED. I sent in a computer in May for a keyboard repair, sent them $315, waited nearly 3 months and received a trashed laptop back from them. I have never been told more lies by anyone in my life."

"I was quoted to have a LCD screen repaired on a Micron laptop. After 6mos of back and forth dialogue, which resulted in a final admittance that they could not repair the unit due to inability to locate parts, they sent back the laptop. However, I am still waiting almost 3wks later for a refund of $175. They shouldn't be quoting jobs that they do not have the parts in stock to repair. They should not take 6mos to finally admit they cannot fix the problem as promised. And they DEFINITELY should not be taking 3+ wks to issue a refund."

"A really tricky company. They can not fix my laptop and after three months and lots of online chattings, they finally send me back the laptop without the refund check ($290). and my powercord was missing. I still have not get the refund check yet after almost half a year. It is not easy to solve the refund problem because they only accept check insead of credit card. I am trying to report this to corresponding agency that may help.
Update Apr.14: I got a UPS tracking number from this company. Will update with new information when I received the package.
Update: may.16: I have received the refund check of $310. Also another used powercord. The powersupply did not work with my laptop. It seems someone else is going to miss his powercord like me."

"I was quite displeased with this company and would never do buisness with them again. I had a simple problem with my motherboard which required the motherboard to be replaced. First off the company was HORRIBLE with emails, the constantly sent out emails that I never received and even once I contacted them directly by phone to clear up the issue it still took them nearly 1.5 months to get the item fixed. As of October 12 I still have not received my laptop back, nor have I received any explaination about the matter. I will be contacting them directly soon but I was very displeased. My last communication with them, stated that they shipped out the laptop about a 1.5 weeks prior to today by UPS ground, but of course they refuse to give me the tracking number over the phone and of course thier emails never get to me. SERIOUSLY BEWARE!!!!"

"I ordered the backlight inverter for my laptop from protablecompuer. The price was good. They don't take credit card, but you can fax a check to them, which is not too diffcult. The only issue I had was it took 6 days for me to get the part. This is slower than other famous online retailers (e.g. newegg, buy.com and etc). But other than this, I am very satisfied with their service."

They're unable to repair as previously quoted (motherboard replacement instead of repairs) so I sold them. Still waiting for money (around 1200$, they're still trying to convince me they have some financial difficulties or unable to send cash or trying to find any option which give them other delay).
I gave many phone calls and only one conversation. They don't reply to my latest emails.
I've no trust to them anymore.

"Falsely advertised that computer was in stock and would be shipped within three days. They do not answer their telephone. He emailed me, telling me one lie after the other. I sent him $1,150.00 in cash in March 2003 to buy a computer. I had to file many complaints to obtain a refund, which finally cleared my bank in July 2003. I wanted a computer, it was never my intention to either donate or loan my money to him for the operation of his business. I would never recommend him. It was a grueling and time consuming experience. I personally, would not beleive a word he
