"I tried to order a Nikon D200 from this company, figuring it was a scam. I did not get any upsell call, but as suspected the product was on back-order and my order cancelled. Another bait and switch company that will never deliver equipment at the price you see. Be prepared for add-ons or a cancelled order. It should be illegal to do what they do, but apparently bait-and-switch is a legal practice. "
"I decided to buy a NIKON D80 with the NIKON lens 18-200 DX VR. And when I wanted to place the order over the phone the sales representative I spoke with just provided bogus information:
- You need to upgrade you battery to a 5 hours
- You need fast rreading memory card
And the thing that crack me up was:
- The 18-200mm F/3.5-6.3 Dc Aspherical (if) Sld Autofocus Lens from SIGNMA is from far away better than the NIKON since it is a DC lens even though it has not a built-in stabilizer system.
(by the way they are selling the SIGMA at $1299.99 whereas after checking to my local store the market price is around $380).
Since I am pretty new in the digital photo world I trusted the guy but what a surprize when I received the package:
- The battery was the same as the one usually provided by NIKON and was not in a box, obviously no upgrade has been performed
- The lens was used and not performing as good as the sales guy was telling me and moreover I tested the NIKON lens I wanted in a store and it worked much better !!
Then I contacted them to do the excahnge within their 7 days grace period and they told me that it was impossible... Finally after sending them 2 emails they asked me to call them. So I did and they finally agreed to provide me a RMA# to exchange the lens but then another question raised from the sales person:
- Do you want a plastic or metal mounting system ?
I told them I wanted the metal one since it is the standard material used by NIKON for this 18-200mm lens, and then I was told that it will cost me $179.00 more due to this "upgrade"... How weird since NIKON only does a metal mounting system, so I am wondering how they can offer a plastic mount ?! Moreover when you go on 1WAYPHOTO website they advertise the NIKON lens at $719 and not refering anything about a plastic mount.
DEFINITELY 1WAYPHOTO is my worst online experience and they are just interested in your money and try to fool you how far as they can.
PS: so far I am still fighting with them for the replacement of my lens without paying these $179.00"
"Wow, these guys are slick. Unfortunately I purchased this camera before any comments were posted on RESELLERRATINGS.com. I ordered a Nikon D80 b/c they had the absolute best price out there. Little did I know that the reason for this low price is that they ship you a Japanese release not a US release. Yet, my displeasure with this company came well before I even noticed this.
5 min after my online order was complete I got a call from one of there sales reps and the SUPER UPSALE process began. I need this card, I need this battery, I need this lense, I need this warranty, I need rapid charger, etc. Apparently the camera comes with NOTHING even though their executive packaged deal comes with all the obsolete versions of these things. So after a 15-20 min battle, I finally got out of there alive "only" having to spend an additional $400 above what I originally thought I was going to spend.
It did not stop there, once I received my shipment I was "accidentally" sent out the wrong battery and memeory card so that cost me and extra few dollars to ship back. (still waiting for the replacement)
So now I am at the point were I just realized that Nikon will not warranty this camera b/c its is not a US release and was advised by Nikon that this information HAS TO BE disclosed per NY statutes. They do get around this by saying THEY offer a "US Warranty". So I contacted them today and they were ready to ship me out the "correct camera", but quickly retracted that statement and offered me a free tutorial DVD and a spare battery.
I purchased the extended warranty that I confirmed will cover this camera so I did not return EVERYTHING as I had originally planned. Still disgusted at their tactics and I am not sure if this headache was worth the discounted price. Should have known better with how cheap it was going to be.
Also, LOL at the "positive" comments on their home page"
"I'm not satisfied with my order at 1way photo, so I decided to return the product within this week.I order a nikon D80 over their website because their price is cheaper compare to other website.Unfortunately, I contact the Nikon cust service to check for the warranty and found out that the item is under a gray market because of the invalid serial number and it would not be covered for a US warranty. I'm very disappointed with this mechant."
"On the contrary to their statement on this website they are totaly unrelayable. Enough said that they accepted my order for Canon 5D and the in the phone conversation they wanted to sell me this camera in plastic body!!!
I placed my order shortly after midnight and received a phone-call from 1 WayPhoto later this morning with that insane offer. In addition, their representative was rude to me over the phone. I canceled my order immidietelly."
"i ordered a camera and a memory card from 1wayphoto it was shipped right away no questions asked althought i did have to call up for a tracking # and they did tell me i lucked out and got one of the last d200's available"
"definately do not reccommend. If it seems to good to be true... Placed an order for D200 body only, out of stock, order cancelled. ordered D80 w/package, recieved email to call and confirm order. phone call was very unprofessional. got "disconnected" twice. I reiterate, he was VERY unprofessional. i read more about scammers like this online. called and cancelled my credit card immediately. today "scott" from "express camera" called me about the order that I placed with them online. (I placed it with 1wayphoto!) he immediately asked me for the 3-digit code on the back of my card. told him I didn't have it with me... I asked him about the battery, and he said he was just about to ask me about it, he told me about the "20 minute disposable" battery, and asked me if I wanted the upgrade for $149. I said no. he asked me about the upgrade on the CF card. He was actually friendly, and it wasn't a high pressure call. I asked him when it would ship: 5-13, and from where: NJ. I told him that he might have problems with my card (cancelled), and he said that was no problem, and that they will contact me when the unit becomes available. I will admit, I would very much like that camera for that price, my D70 treats me great though.
Oh, and let me add that I notified them that I would contact the BBB and post negative feedback here on resellerratings.com. (there was only 1 "very dissatisfied" review at that point, 1 review total). Since then both of the glowing reviews below have been posted, frankly I'm a little curious...
Remember when "scott" said he was calling about my order at "express camera"? check their rating here on resellerratings.com. go ahead do it...."
