"I have had so far good experience over last 7-8 years but now suddenly, can't load their website now - getting message "server not found" thru many countries, mostly in Eastern Europe. I am traveling and right now in Romania but last 5 years, I have filed TaxAct online returns from overseas so what's going on now is a surprise - help!!

"Do not use this to file your return ! The software failed to list all my 1099s and now wants me to pay money to amend the return, when the error is theirs. I entered all the correct information but it did not come into the final copy of my return, which I already filed. Customer service is also no help. Do not use this free software."
"DON'T USE THIS TAX PRODUCT!!!!!!! It has been wrong the past two years. This year it is costing me $4000+ in IRS audit refunds reductions. TaxACT is stalling me with their answer (some mumbo jumbo indicating that the IRS might not understand how to interpret their many forms) telling me they will look into it and they have many (problem?) people like me who need help with the TaxACT returns (I'll bet THEY DO HAVE A MESS ON THEIR HANDS) STAY AWAY FROM ANY VERSION OF TAXACT."
"I used tax act last year very pleased, also used tax act this year very pleased with the service.What I'm not pleased about is the Endeavor Card or the Bancorp people and as a reflection that leads right back to tax act because they are associated with Tax-Act.I have a illness and I have a limited time left on this wonderful earth, but I don't have any insurance to pay for my blood work, my medicine and a few more vital things that I need in life all because the associates Tax-Act uses will not give me my IRS Refund.I was told to leave the Hospital Jan/28/2012 because of my insurance problems.I used Tax-Act to file my taxes this year, and was accepted by the IRS etc...I had my card Expedited so I could buy me some insurance and get my medicine for my illness, it only suppose to take 2-3 business days it's been 2 weeks and no card.When I talk to Endeavor custom service they hang up on me and say it's Bancorp Fault.When I talk to Bancorp they say it's Tax-Act fault.I don't care who's at fault, where's my money I'm dieing and I need my medicine and my blood work by Fri which will be in 2 days.I NEED HELP IF ANYONE CAN HELP ME GET MY MONEY FROM THESE GUYS, GOD WILL BLESS YOU AND I WILL PRAY FOR YOU.A GMAIL I CAN BE REACH AT IS ****@**** I NEED HELP!"
"DO NOT use TaxAct. I filed tax with electronic debit payment. Its software changed my electronic payment to mailing payment without my consent. After received "return accepted" I thought everything was done deal but 2 weeks later found out that the money had not been withdrawn. I went back the return and realized that taxact switched my electronic payment to mailing payment without my consent resulting my late penalties. My issue can not be solved at customer level so I asked for Solution Escalations Department info. The supervisor at customer service gave me incomplete address and customer service email instead of email of Solution Escalations Department. VERY CAREFUL WITH THIS COMPANY and it is merging with H&R Block."
"I wanted the security and privacy of filing my return through the mail. I looked at all of the software. I only found three that enabled me to do that and I had to buy them in a store. Some other software you could buy through a download, but either they had bad reviews or required electronic filing. I only had a choice of "the usual suspects", Turbotax, H and R Block's TaxCut and TaxAct. I wanted to steer away from Taxcut because the company had some legal issues with regulators and I like to deal with a company that seems fair with people. It is a good program, though. TaxCut did not live up to the promises on the retail box, in my opinion. It is cheap, yes, but once you open the program, you will find that to get the advice you expect, they want you to "upgrade" for 10 more dollars. I tried the phone support that came with the program. One time they answered my question. The next time they wanted more money. It says that it imports PDF files of your old return. All it took of my old return was some basic identifying information. Maybe my PDFs were not clear enough. I don't know. There is an option for a "retail refund", which I requested, but they would not tell me what the terms are over the phone. They said "send us an e-mail" and I got back an automated response that didn't answer my question. Turbotax is the best, because it is easy and comprehensive, but can you stomach that price?"

I e-filed my tax return using TaxACT. As I do with all companies, I gave TaxACT a unique email address so that I could track what they do with my email address. A few years later, I started receiving spam from many different spammers at that email address. When I complained to TaxACT, they at first denied any responsibility. When I escalated the complaint, provided evidence, and also filed a complaint with TRUSTe, they began stalling. TaxACT then claimed that their "Global Do Not Email List" was stolen through one of their advertising partners. When I asked for the name and contact information of this advertising partner, they ignored me. Whatever the case may be, you should never trust TaxACT with any of your personal information."
