"ABS to me is one of the better PC companies out there. They are basically a re-seller with reasonable prices, with the addition of a really good PC building team. I oredered and Ultimate M6 2 6800GT's and an AMD FX-55. I was able to build a computer through the company that can play Half-Life 2 at FULL aa filtereing with maximum details at 1280x1024 resolution without a hitch in the toughest firefights!. I'm glad I went through them, even if it was a year after one of my friends recommended the company to me. The whole sytem I congifured cost over $900 LESS than the almost exaclty same configured Alienware I was considering. I also considered the Dell XPS, but they did not have SLI at the time (March '05).
The only problem I had was just last week when my one of my onboard RAID controllers failed, it tunred out after talking with the helpful and professional tech support, as most of you seemed to have experienced of thier customer service, I only had to try connecting my 2 WD Raptor HDD's to one of the remaing 8 SATA connections. Unfortunately, doing this meant I head to do a complete re-install, as swithing RAID controllers(went from the OB Silicon to the OB NVidia). The GOOD news was, I did not have to send anything in and the tech support was patient and knowledgeable enough to help me solve the hardware problem. Their support is not like many other companies that transfer you to some phone center filled with non-national, non-interested person who only has lowly people skills who ignore you while they are trying to read something like the troubleshooting guide in the back of every electronics product. When I talked with the tech support, I didn't have to repeat anything and was left in a decent mood, even though I had lost all my data, I was able to reinstall everything and am back up and running playing HL2 and C&C Generals at full details and resolution(I have an LCD so 1280x1024 is my max). And I still got money to burn. My next computer will most likely be from ABS, but not until I really need to, probably a couple years from now when Windows Vista will be out and require more than a 1GB of RAM by itself...

"I had a problem with the sound card in my ABS computer.
I called Tech Support and was told by a very pleasant person that a Tech would call me back to help me resolve my problem.
As promised, about 30 minutes later, your Tech support person John called me back and very quickly resolved my computer's sound problem.
John was very patient, extrewmely knowledgeable and helpful.
Thanks for having people like John available to your customers. It keeps us as customers.

"Edit: Situation resolved. Appropriate fees were waived. My only frustration is that it took 7-8 phonecalls to get in contact with a person that was able to make this decision. I do appreciate that ABS Computer Technologies made the right decision to refund the full value of the defective computer. If this computer was not defective on arrival, I am sure I would be totally happy with the value and performance that ABS offers.

I am extremely unhappy with my experience with ABS Computer Technologies Inc. I ordered an Ultimate M6 on 8-15-05 and recieved it on 8-19-05. The speedy delivery was great, but unfortunately, the quality of the computer was well below what I expected.
Within 15 minutes of the first boot of the computer, I got two bluescreens. The computer randomly reset or totally froze multiple times per day. I attempted a system restore, and the system crashed again.

I work as a technician, so I believe I can say that I did the steps properly.

This machine is defective out of the box, and I am currently dealing with the phone runaround. I am unwilling to pay 400 dollars plus shipping, plus cost of the Operating System, okus the cost of the bundled software. I spoke with a customer service rep as soon as the phone lines opened this morning, and I had to wait approximately 90 minutes to get a callback from a technician. The technician directed me towards the customer service supervisor, and said I should expect a call within an hour. Two hours later, nothing.

I called up to check on the status of my phonecall, and got no answer other than the fact that I would get a call as soon as possible.

It is totally ridiculous that a computer less than a day old has these problems. Either someone at ABS did not do the burn-in test on this machine, or they neglected to fix the obvious problems with this computer.

So in closing, I was shipped a defective computer, and am being told that I have to pay 400+ dollars for a refund. That is horrible customer service.

"I'm a reseller who customizes platforms for clients with specific problems and needs. This is but one of many orders I have placed through the ABS company in the past year, and all have been delivered up to expectations.

This was the only order to have a problem on delivery. Calling tech support about the problem got me a promise of a callback--not instant results. ABS is a busy company and this was to be wxpected. When the call came later that day, the tech was friendly, articulate, patient, and listened to what I had to say about my diagnostics and solution attempts. It was obvious he was interested in my problem and in helping me solve it quickly. We walked through a series of tests and determined the culprit to be a botched load of XP. The tech finally recommended a complete reload via the company provided, menu-driven DVD.

I must say this went flawlessly. At the end of a totally automated proces, I had a fully restored, clean system, complete with all the proper drivers for my configuration. I have performed this process on other PCs with 'recovery' CDs from the mass merchandise computer suppliers and the ABS single-DVD method beats them all for simplicity and straight-forward operation. A regular consumer should appreciate this high level of security and simplicity.

The only other comment I can add is that this order, as are all my orders, was a custom affair and parts had to be obtained by ABS. This process took a bit longer than desired, but I got exactly what I wanted for the purpose intended instead of taking the next best thing off the shelf. In the end, it was worth the wait. Pricing was well in line with what I expected and quality and craftsmanship--a nearly obsolete word in this business--was, as usual for ABS, of the highest order. Beautifully clean layout and attention to detail. Not something you're going to get from TV ad boxes. Keep up the good work guys!

Yes. This machine had a problem. ABS was responsive, intelligent and well prepared to overcome the situation without causing me excessive effort or any grief. In the final analysis, I have a very satisfied client and guaranteed repeat business.

"As a few others before me, I will post an ongoing review to detail the progress of my purchasing experience.

07/21/05
Customizing the laptop I wanted was pretty easy. Nothing complicated. I have to say that ABS's optional zero dead-pixel policy (coming at a very reasonably price) was one of the deciding features for my choosing them. I just placed an order today at about 11:30am and left to go to my workplace. I go back to home and I am told that a representative called saying that they started assembling my laptop. I have to say, this was delightfully surprising as I was not expecting any feedback other than shipping notices.

07/22/05 Friday
Tonight I just checked the status of my order on ABS's webpage and found that my laptop had finished assembly and was being prepped for shipping. Excellent stuff considering that the site stated a maximum of 5 days before shipping.

Just received my Mayhem G3 and all I can say is that it is AWESOME. Packaging was nice and all but what I really like was the binder with all included CDs and statistics about your computer. Awesome stuff. My computer is running great too. Everything is as I expected to be. I heartily recommend ABS.

" Back in 03, configuring and ordering online was a breeze. The shipment was easily tracked. The PC was packaged very well. My custom Ultimate X5 system has been a dream...even after the nightmare of a system crash that happened in July 05...ABS tech support helped me save ALL of my programs & data. "Hello, I just ordered an ABS Desktop Ultimate M6.
I thought I'd keep an ongoing review as I go through the process of getting the computer.

Okay, I actually ordered my comp on 5/29/2005. Boy, was I excited. I couldn't wait to get the duo GeForce 6800 ultra's powered by a sweet Athlon FX55. Finally, I'll be able to PLAY Half Life 2, instead of seeing still photos of Half Life 2. Of course, it wouldn't be that easy. My order wasn't approved right away because of some problems with my bank and some of my information not matching my credit card. This, of course, was not ABS' fault. Which is unfortunate because I was angry(i'm so impatient) and had to kick my dog to get rid of the aggression. Okay, okay, I didn't kick my dog. He's fine. Wait, I don't even have a dog. Anyway...
I finally got everything straightened out and my order was approved on June 6th. During that first week of trying to get my order approved, I spoke to 3 reps from ABS. Two times, I called and I was on hold approximately 10 to 15 mins each time, which is in the bounds of reasonable. They were both pleasant and tried to help me. The third rep made a return call to me. He was pleasant, but he also was foreign. No, this isn't a negative, because I'm a racist Indiana boy(the only people I don't like are Carnies...Scary!). It's just that a lot of times it is very difficult to understand people with thick accents. Luckily, I was able to understand this guy pretty well and after speaking to him my order was finally verified.
Okay, so my order was basically placed Monday. It's now Wednesday, and the order is on step 7 of 8(being prepared for shipping). So far, so good. That was quicker than I expected. Once I get the computer, I'll be having my computer geek friend help me check it over to make sure I have the correct parts and that it's running correctly. Then I'll update my info on here. Hopefully, everything will be great and I'll be blowing up stuff and marvelling on how realistic it looks.
I'm already happy with the excellent price I'm getting from ABS, unbelievable compared to the competition. I just hope when it's all said and done, I'm not kicking my dog. errr nevermind

Update:
Okay, I received my computer on Monday, June 20th. Of course, my computer was here in Indianapolis on Friday, but FedEx wouldn't let me pick it up early :(, but that is beside the point.
I came home, ripped open the box, and was on my way to dreamland. The comp was packed very well, by the way. The Tsunanmi Dream case was quite choice, and I would recomend it to anyone building their own machine. The blue LED lights really showed off my SLI Vid cards.

Okay, now for under the hood. I had the mad professor come over and inspect my case. Of course, he didn't get to it right away, because he was too busy berating and gawking at me for not buying a soundcard.
quote"You buy a three thousand dollar computer with all the high end components and you didn't get a sound card". I retaliated with"Well, the ASUS motherboard comes with a nice integrated sound card". I should have never said that, for that made him laugh even louder.

Okay, so we're checking things out. First thing. ABS sends a sweet organizer that holds the manuals. They even sent me info on the benchmarks they took on my computer.
The professor checked all my components and everything they sent me is what I ordered.
A couple of things though. My video driver wasn't completely up to date, so we downloaded the latest one. There might be a reason they didn't have the latest installed, but I wouldn't know. Half Life 2 worked well before and after the new driver installs(except now, of course, I don't get a message stating that my vid driver needs updated).

As far as gaming... I can play HL2, all the settings turned all the way up and not see one glitch or pause. It runs super smoothly. Unfortunately on older games that use more cpu than vid card power I still had some lag with settings set to the extreme...albeit waaaay less then my old computer(in which I couldn't even play at higher settings).
Well, that's about it. This was a successful order..at least so far. I guess, time will tell, but as of now, I'm very happy with my computer and would recommend ABS to anyone...and I'd even recommend getting a soundcard ;)

"I ordered my Mayhem G4 laptop through Newegg on Thursday, 4/28. It was in my hands on Monday, 5/2. I thought there'd been a mistake and a desktop computer had been shipped--that's how big the box was!

Of course, that was the shipping box, with plenty of foam cushioning the actual box the laptop was in. And omg...a BINDER?? With separate plastic ziplocked sheets for each disk, AND the CPU warranty booklet?? I've ordered Dells and not gotten that. Nor from HP. So far, I'm VERY impressed--and I haven't even seen the laptop yet.

So then I see the carrying case. I was expecting a cheap sleeve; this bag is every bit as good as my Targus (in fact, it's more functional!). But I still haven't seen the computer....

Finally, I open the box with the computer in it. MORE fail-safe packaging. I examined the entire outer case carefully, to see if there were ANY nicks or gouges. Not even the slightest smudge, and every single screwhole on the bottom was pristine (unlike other laptops I've had--HP, NEC, and Toshiba)--extreme care was taken during assembly.

Opening the case (minor quibble: dual catches are preferred to a single centered catch) revealed a very nice piece of plastic TAPED to the case, to protect the screen.

Booting, the battery was fully charged. No dead pixels (and there shouldn't be, regardless of dead pixel policies). Keyboard is clicky and responsive. Touchpad is appropriately sensitive. Documentation is a 7 out of 10.

There was one problem, however: I ordered 1GB of RAM (2x 512MB DIMMs); there was only 512MB reporting. Working with both Newegg & ABS, within 48 hours, my additional DIMM was enroute. Newegg took care of it after originally directing me to either call ABS or return the entire unit for exchange. When I complained via e-mail that a full exchange was unsatisfactory, I had the notice that the DIMM had shipped. In the meantime, I called ABS, and Omar worked with me to help ensure the missing DIMM wasn't simply loose. I was a bit concerned because I could only locate 1 DIMM slot, while the machine reported 2. He called me back this morning with instructions on how to find the second DIMM slot (it's under the keyboard), and assured me opening the case would not void my warranty.

The replacement DIMM was received on time, and when installed, the system immediately reported a full gig of RAM.

So all in all, I'd have to give ABS a 9.5 out of 10 for this experience. You can bet I'll be recommending ABS to my gaming friends--and as a volunteer manager for the Vault Network forums (the largest gaming message boards in the world), I have at least a little influence.

"I purchased a Mayhem G2 laptop from ABS last August on the basis of positive online feedback and recommendations from friends. It was perhaps a little more expensive than it would have been had I bought an equivalent model from another vendor, but there were no dead pixels or other obvious defects, and it arrived on schedule. When I began to put it through its paces on some demanding 3D games, it would consistently crash out in under half an hour. After a little research online I found new graphics drivers to fix the problem, and all was well.

However, I cannot recommend ABS to anyone in good faith because of their nonexistent customer service. I began having hadware problems with the display a few weeks ago, and tried to contact ABS to get the problem resolved. The emails I sent disappeared into the ether with no replies, so I tried phone support. After being bounced around from Customer Support, to Tech Support, and finally to Sales, I was instructed to download and submit an Advance Replacement form with the RMA # I had been given. I was told I would be sent a replacement part in 3 days, and should return the faulty one within 10 to avoid being charged for it. So, I dutifully filled out and faxed the appropriate form, and waited a week with no reply. Finally, I sent them a scanned copy to the email address listed on the form, with an accompanying note explaining the situation. It is now several days later, and I have no package, no response to any of my emails, and very little patience left. Unless ABS does something about their terrible support, I doubt I will ever buy from them again.

"The day after I posted this, I noticed that the system was getting ready to ship. After getting it I must say I am impressed. The system is very nice and they did a very good job putting the box together. The system really screams through graphic intense games. I was missing 1 thing from my order, but the system was well worth the wait.

Uncertain. I ordered my system last Friday, and money was taken out of my account on Saturday. I received an email that stated it would take 3-5 business days for a system order to ship. After 3 business days, and my order status still saying "Your system is being prepared for assembly," I decided to call and find out a status. Apparently because I had a different ship to address and it wasn't listed by my credit card company, they still had yet to verify my information. I can understand this and I appreciate their concern for fraud, but I would have liked it better if I was contacted about this. At any rate I fixed this problem, but after this was remedied, I received an email that stated it would take 10-15 working days for a system order. I'm just a little leery now that I've had more than $2500 out of my account for almost a week already, and now it might take up to 3 additional weeks for my order to finally get shipped. When I first ordered this on their website, it stated the system would ship around the 14th or 15th. The person I talked to today did mention that I would get free shipping, but if it takes 3 weeks is saving $60 really worth it?
