"I had an issue with my AIW 9700 Pro AGP overheating in my PC. ATI has been HORRIBLE at best at dealing with this issue. They have sent me 4 (four!!) differnt video cards, all of which had the exact same issue.
To check that it wasn't my pc, after the first video card problem, I purchased (and later returned) an ATI 9800 AIW Pro AGP and had no issues what so ever. However, Customer Support still was suspicious of my claims of overheating.
Now it's Feb 2004. I still haven't gotten the issue resolved so I went and purchased (to keep this time) another ATI 9800 AIW Pro, installed in my PC and it has been running fine ever since. Now I'm stuck with an usuable 9700 Pro at $400. Crap. "
"Ordered some things from ATI like tee-shirts, baseball caps, posters, etc.. They say they'll email you with UPS tracking number, but that was total horse manure. The package just arrived upexpectantly today with everything but the 9800 poster. These people are very difficult to reach; almost impossible, and it's long distance to Canada folks... I was on hold for over 10 minutes and still was only transfered to a recorder where I left a msg.. Am waiting for somebody to call me back or email me..."
"I ordered a few cables from them that are necessary to install my Radeon 9700 pro All-in-wonder. The service thus far has been horrible. There is a dearth of information on there site concerning orders. Vital information like, the status of the order is suspiciously missing. There is not expected ship date only a very uninformative "Requested Ship Date" which means little to me since it is the same as the day I submitted the order (which was a Sunday). I have yet to receive any information other than the order confirmation about my order. So I sit 4 days after I made my order still waiting on its status. I even submitted a request for information through there even less useful "webform". Which doesn't have a category for order information requests (they ask you some silly questions that didn't really apply to me like "Do you own the item?" - how am I to answer that? I don't own it yet, but I WANT TO!!). It has been about 36 hours since I submitted the webform and I have yet to hear anything back."
"Ordered Radeon AllInWonder 9800Pro from another vendor but made sure it was "Made by ATI" as I wanted an original product.
I received the card and it was defective upon cold boot with corrupted video in boot up and windows. I have since learned that this specific card appears to have problems as numerous others have experienced the same problems. Others have had to RMA thier first "two" cards to get a working card. My reseller has been very helpful but ATI must know of thier problems with this card.
I had fond memories of my original 486 powered by ATI. It appears that their attitude and quality have suffered badly.
I don't think I will buy ATI again. I hope Nvidia resolves their problems as their cards have always performed and been trouble free.

Update: 032604
My 2nd card developed the corrupted video problem and had to be RMA'd. Within 14 days ATi had sent me a replacement card (not bad for RMA). This was now my third AIO Wonder Radeon 9800 Pro video card from ATi withing the last 7 months. Upon opening the package I observed that I had been sent a well used & damaged product. Cooling fins n the GPU heat sink were bent some one way/some another about 8 cooling fins in all. The bracket mount looked well "screwed". I just wanted a working card. Put the card in my machine and got corrupted video on first boot and was unable to turn anything off in the mainboard BIOS (AGP 8X and/or AGP Fast Writes) that would allow installation of WinXP to get the video drivers loaded. This card was worse that the one I just RMA'd and looked rode hard and well just sent to me. I hope ATi is reading this. If this is your product reputation and RMA services you will give Nvidia all you have worked so hard to earn. UnHappy with ATi"
"Im not sure what my invoice number is but I just found out about this web site a few days ago and just wanted to thank ATI for its prompt service. I bought an 8500 all-in-wonder pro from a company about 8 months ago or so and it started having some freezing problems. I filled out on RMA form on there web site and gave them my serial number etc... and recieved a responce the next day with an rma # and adress to send it to so I did. I got it about just about 10 days later saying that they could not dupicate the problem but they replaced it with a new one. I was very surprised that it only took 10 days to get the card back (from the day I shipped it ground) and they send me another one. A+ in my book"
" The adapter arrived as stated with complete packaging, and was operational out of the box."
"I ordered the Radeon 9500/9700 DVI to Component adapter from these people. Since this is the ONLY place to get the part, I didn't have a choice.
So I tried to order.
But what do I get? A website that says in BIG BOLD LETTERS "IN-STOCK"...
Who are they kidding! I placed the ordered and was told it was on back-order.. Off to a bad start. So a week later I get an email saying the part is in and ready to ship.
The part weighs MAYBE 1/4 pound and it smaller than a roll of scotch tape...
How much do you think it costs to ship?
$15.00!!
Ok, $15.00 isn't bad for 2 day shipping... BUT WAIT, it's 4-6 business days... So far, I've waited 8 business days and still don't have it.
Besides getting ripped off on the shipping, only 1 out of 10 emails to their order department actually came back with a response other than;
"Thank you for choosing ATI. To purchase XXXXX, use our website."
If you can find the part ANYWHERE else, I would suggest you buy it from the other company.
The ATI store is horribly designed, horribly updated, and horribly supported by their employees.
I KNOW I'm not the only one ATI has raped when it comes to shipping. A customer should never feel like an abused piece of trash.
CONGRATULATIONS goes to ATI for spearheading this new approach! What a great way to retain customers!"
"I ordered the Radeon 9800 Pro 256MB video card. Quick service. I ordered it on a Friday, i selected 3 day shipping. It processed and shipped out Monday, and i had it on thursday. No problems with ati.com Probably do buisiness w/ them in the future. "
"Lying. How cute. Not terribly bright, but cute.
I had ordered a 9800 via a highly reputable and service oriented dealer. However, ATI has proven themselves to have a rather poor understanding of service. They seem to think that lying to their business partners is an acceptable practice. "Oh sure, those 9800's are on their way!" they proclaimed. "They're just hung up en route to you." But were they ever shipped at all? Err... no. ATI was just jerking the proverbial chain. The ETA is now set (by ATI) at nearly two weeks from their initial promised date. (For some strange reason, I am having trouble believing them.)
Being late with a release is not a big deal for me. If they are going to be late, be up front, let me know and I'll be just fine with that. But lying I can not tolerate. I am cancelling my order of the card (but still keeping an order open with the vendor) as ATI doesn't deserve my business. I would strongly recommend going with another company if at all possible. These guys need pay for their dishonesty, IMO."
"I ran-up $160 of long-dist charges because their thec support phone number is an 'international' call from the US. They should have either a tool-free # (800 - ... ) or a US phone number. At the very least, their thec support people should 'warn' customers that they are calling an 'international' number."
"ATI's online store was having a free shipping promotion for the holidays. I was need of a new videocard. I decided to get the best bang for my money and that was an ATI Radeon 8500LE. Did a lot of research on this card. Because the OEM cards are almost always underclocked and might be poor quality. So everyone that knew about these cards in few forums told be to make sure "It's Built by ATI and Made by ATI". So I bought one from ATI's online store and was happy until I received it. It was an underclocked card that everybody warned me to stay away from. I thought, How could this be? I ordered from ATI. They don't sell crap cards. When I told the people I had researched the card from. what happened. They didn't believe me. The assumed I bought from some Shady online company. When I showed them the invoice they couldn't believe it. They where sure ATI made an honest mistake. Nope, called ATI and spent a fortune [no 800#] They explained that ATI has the right to sell any clocked card anytime. Well I had to spend $15 bucks to send the card back. Now I'm waiting for my money back. ATI you lost a customer for life. I wouldn't keep a Video Card from you if it was free. BUYER BEWARE ATI SELLS UNDERCLOCKED 230/230 RADEON 8500LE"
"I dislike this company extremely especially for their practice of giving you 30 days of telephone support after paying $350 for their product. They are inexperienced but they do have good products. I needed help with something and they simply turned me down."
"I bought the ATI AIW Radeon 8500 128MB TRADE UP program for $360 including my sending ATI a used working video card. The $100 rebate has not been received as of September 9, 2002 despite our numerous attempts to contact them or their representatives. So I am out of $100 because of ATI's deception and fraud."
"Good products? Couldn't say.
Worst service I've ever encountered though!
I think that ATI products are good if they are working. Paying 2.95 a minute to call a 1-900 number for the service they should be more than happy to provide is no way to run a business. They seem to decide ad hoc which hardware to support in which OS. The past few days I've been involved in a battle trying to get an updated driver for Windows 2000. Their web site loads after 5 minutes of waiting (I'm on a T3) and the first response I got demonstraited that whomever sent it failed to read my letter concerning my problem. But, they did suggest that I could reply to the e-mail for further assistance. When I did so, the message was bounced back to me having an invalid address at ATI."
"Been using their Video Cards for a few years now. The AIW series are excilent. I am not useing the AIT 8500DV with no problems, Fast GPU, great TV tunner, and Firewire is just wonderfull. I will be using ATI for a long time to come."
