"In 1999 I bought components from Aberdeen. In order to return a defective part, I was given an RMA number, I had to buy a replacement, and I wait for credit. I had to dispute a credit card charge in order to get the credit (took over 2 months).
In 2006 I bought some memory chips from Aberdeen. It was the first items I bought for a new system, and among the last to be delivered. Their prices were higher than average, and I bought because they agreed to match another vendor's price.
The sales person was friendly and accommodating, but I just have a hard time justifying using them again."

Unfortunately, there was a mb system failure within a few minutes after start up. I returned the board with the processor and memory. "Aberdeen is a shell of what they once were. I had placed a small order in 2002 with them- and it shipped late.
This most recent order I had placed was for five hard drives. It was supposed to arrive on the 17th of March 2004. It SHIPPED on the 18th. When checking UPS tracking, i realize it was being bounced and rescheduled... the package required a signature. Why it needed to be signed when sent to a HOME address when i did not request it is absolutely beyond me.
Customer support seemed nonchalant until i mentioned that i have been in their customer database since 1994. Well consider me to be a non-user since 2004.
I have cancelled the order. The package will be refused. I will not deal with them again. Multiple chains of failure, no thanks. My $$$ is going elsewhere and i advise others to do the same.
*** UPDATE ***
I have finally received my refund. However, it took some serious micromanagement. First- i had to call back Aberdeen and the same unhelpful CSR i spoke to earlier thought i was making an 'exchange'.
Captain Obvious doesn't need to get involved to make a note that a completely unopened box being returned is indicative of a product exchange. Also the logs of notes and my own self make no mention of a product exchange. In fact i pointed them to this very website to explain - NO EXCHANGE, FULL REFUND -
In fairness i did finally get this escalated to a VP/CSR who made some sort of effort to make the refund happen. No substantial attempt was made to keep me as a customer, nor was any accountability taken. But in either case J. Tateel did make a serious effort to make closure to the deal. He was the ONLY one to actually reply to my emails as requested. A few business days later, i got my $$ back. "
"*WARNING! WARNING! WARNING!* They advertise on Pricewatch.com for FREE shipping. First of all, this is a form of bate and swap. They lure you into free shipping and then at the last page, bingo +$10.00 shipping. Go search around if you're lucky to find the rebate, most likely you will have to email someone to find the hidden link. Then you will NOT get your rebate, this is straight up 100% FRAUD! They will not accept your phone calls, and put you on Eternal HOLD, if you call and complain, they will not respond to emails or anything of the like... I have a dozen unanswered emails, saying "where's my rebate?", "where's my rebate?" "where's my rebate?" No answers. Then after I said "this is the Last Warning!!!" I gave them 1 MORE full other month, and no reply. Not one, and I emailed every address on their webpage.
1. They never replied to any of my phone calls, or emails.
2. Then they said they "never received it"
3. Then they said, “Oh um… after you emailed us a million times and we realized you weren’t going away, we actually started to open our mail and.. um.. well… we found it.. but…”
4. They said ***I*** filled out the rebate form incorrectly, So…
(I change Documents into PDF Fill-In Forms for a living and every PDF I see I make it into a form and fill it out, digitally, thus leaving no room for some fraudulent rebate company to say, "it was illegible" or some crap like that.)
5. So emailed them, and gave them a *PERFECT COPY* of my rebate form, the same one I typed, and low and behold, it WAS filled out correctly. And they were like "...um.... well... um...."
6. 6 You didn't put in a copy of the invoice... which is CRAP!
Why on earth would I spend all this time, if this wasn't true for a measly $10?

"I was shopping for a barebones system to replace my computer that was dying, (bad mobo)so I had a pretty horrid connection and was trying to shop. I placed one order with a company that did not have a telephone number. They never responded. Imagine my shock when I was immediately transferred to the sales director without being forced to listen to endless advertising and piped music. He answered all of my questions, took are of pricing for special things and even told me how to get shipping rebated. He followed up with an email. I was impressed. My system shipped today, I hope to have a happy conclusion. Also in subsequent phone calls I have found that customer service is exceptional, I worked for The Four Seasons Resorts and I have rarely seen this kind of customer service outside the hospitality industry."

"A few years ago I bought all the hardware needed to build a new PC. The prices were great! I built a great PC for half the price it would have cost me to buy the same PC in a store! All parts were of high quality and I still use this PC today! More recently, I have purchased some BareBones systems for the company I work for and the first few systems came in good condition, until this last one I got. The hardware works great but the case had a few problems. I was able to work around them so I would not have to go through the hastle of returning the product.
The company's online order system could be better. You don't get any order confirmation by email like you do with other vendors, but they do send you an email when the order is shipped. I will buy from them again!"
