"Ordered a Samsung television through Abes of maine after a recommendation from one of my coworkers. Was concerned about getting the correct high priced item over the internet, the process of shipping and receiving in one piece and customer service. All my worries were relieved when my television arrived in 8 days from when I ordered it. I am still cautious about delivery so I purchased the white glove delivery. The delivery men placed the TV in the room I wanted it in, plugged it in and tested the TV for me. They beat the price of major retailers by hundreds of dollars even after including the price of their "White glove" delivery I would shop here again "

I researched this product very thoroughly before making my purchase and the salesman at Abe's of Main was able to get me the best price out of all the other online retailers. "upsell is standard practice, told me a bunch of bull about the price being offered was only for a commercial samsung tv unit. samsung knows nothing about commercial vs retail units, all the same according to them. Delivery was a debacle to say the least, eventually showed up a day late at 9:30 pm after waiting at home on 2 different days per their "white glove delivery service". Do yourself a favor- stay away.
Addendum 9/3/14: Frank J from Abe's reached out to me today and after reviewing the case has done his best to make things right. Still can't give them 5 stars after my experience but have upgraded to 4 stars."
"I ordered a canon xa20 camcorder with these guys and it was an international model. The guy was nice enough to call and let me know that it was an international model but this courtesy call felt sketchy and put me on guard immediately. It seemed as if he was trying to upsell me on their products in particular the USA model of the camera I ordered. The camera retails for $200 more than the international model and I wasn't in the market of putting out more money. When I told "Ted" that I'm sticking to what I ordered he said that it would take 2 weeks to receive my international model because they have to send for it overseas which made no sense because the website said that it was "in stock". Mind you I paid $15 for 3 day shipping because I needed this for a wedding I was shooting for the upcoming weekend. So I decided to cancel the whole transaction because the website led me to believe that I would receive everything by the guaranteed date. Fast forward 1 week later and I'm still waiting for my refund. So when considering these guys for electronics or such proceed with caution. You get what you pay for!"

"I ordered a TV and when they called to verify, I got the bait-and-switch spiel about how there was no warranty on this TV, firmware updates wouldn't work, and it was not made as well. This was because it was 'commercial' and not retail. And if I paid an extra $300-$500 I could get the exact same TV I had ordered with the exact same part number, but this one would be much better. The word commercial, or any similar indication, does not appear anywhere on the page describing the television, and Samsung's website confirms a 1 year warranty and firmware upgrades for this part number."

I finally received my package, and here is the final verdict.
Pros:
* Low price - even after what some would call bait and switch tactic, Abe's still offered a good price, 7-10% cheaper than competition.
Cons:
* Slow processing - It took two days for someone to call and verify my order, one more day for shipping label to be created, one more day for it to be picked up by UPS.
* Broken promises - The whole reason Ted called me was to insist that I get the "US" model which came with manufacturer's warranty. I purchased (1) a camera with lens kit and (2) an extra lens, both of which were supposed to be US models with the new order. The extra lens contained a 3rd party warranty, and the camera with lens kit came with no warranty at all.
* Unethical - Abe's offered free items in order to get me to rate them higher. I don't consider it to be a respectable practice. At the least they could be more subtle about it.
Would I do business with Abe's of Maine again? - NO
Would I recommend Abe's of Maine to friends? - NO

Two days after I placed my order online for a digital camera and a lens, I received a call from Ted, like everyone else. He told me that the camera I ordered was an "international" model. The lens I ordered was clearly marked international in red, bold letters, but the camera body is not marked clearly. Only after the fact I realized what "Brand New Factory Fresh Import Model" meant.
As with everyone else's experience, Ted offered a US-model for additional charge. I agreed to change my order since it was still a good deal compared to prices from other sites. I shall see whether he makes good on his words.
I am rating Abe's of Maine 3-stars because of the bait and switch tactic, but not as dissatisfied (yet) since they offer good prices even after this. I will update my ratings after receiving my order."
"I decided to order a new Plasma TV from Abe's of Maine on August 4th. It stated "in stock" and "ships in 7-10 days". I received a call from a manager last night, August 17th, that they will be shipping my TV in the next 2 days."

"Ordered a canon 18-200mm lense. The agent keep calling me, and pursuade me to purchase a more expensive version. After I insisted to get the one I ordered originally, he cancelled my order without any notice.
Somebody called me after I wrote this review, and it was a pleasant conversation. My order got shipped Immediately after the phone call. It could be some mis-communication. I will update the review again after I receive the product.
