"I placed an international order from A E Bike because they offered the cheapest shipping charges. The item was shipped within two days and it arrived in India in about 16 days of placing the order.
Overall I'm satisfied with the transaction but I did worry about whether I'm ever going to get it because they did not give me a tracking number.
The order confirmation email had this to say: "Tracking Information: None available for this shipment type." I didn't see why they couldn't give me a tracking number. Then mysteriously, the email also said: "Please allow 24 hours for the tracking number to be viewable online."
I looked up their site several times but no tracking number was provided even a week after placing the order so I wrote to ****@**** asking for it. Never received a reply. I called them but got an automated message that they don't work on Mondays. Called them again yesterday and was told that they "can't provide the shipping information coz its going too far but they use USPS airmail...and they don't do tracking numbers."
I have no idea what that means. Going too far? Don't do tracking numbers? How do I know if they ever shipped at all?
I was concerned that the package might get stuck at customs and I wouldn't even know about it. Thankfully, it arrived today and there was no customs duty to be paid.
It was sent by USPS Priority Mail (not Airmail International) and the package did indeed have a tracking number: CJ35 0139 558U S. The number can be tracked on USPS.com at least until it leaves the U.S.
If A E Bike had given me the tracking info, it'd have saved me anxiety of wondering whether I will ever get the package or not.
Bottom line: I will order from them again but I do hope they change their policy and provide tracking info with order confirmation."

I am a new customer (all the way from Melbourne, Australia) to Alfred E. Bike (of Kalamazoo, MI) having chanced upon their store during a google search whilst browsing for some new accessories and bike wear I needed.
Over the past couple of months I have been making quite a few purchases of gear and I just so wish I'd found Alfred E. Bike much sooner than I did! It's not that I've had any issues whatsoever with any of the other great businesses that I've had the pleasure to deal with (in both Europe and the US). In fact those other businesses have been quite good in nearly all respects, however Alfred E. Bike have taken professional service to new heights for me.
From their straightforward and easy to navigate website, through their very extensive catalogue of almost anything that you are likely to want or need, to their VERY competitive pricing and reasonable shipping costs, the whole search, review and ordering process is an absolute breeze. But then the most fantastic and wonderful surprise was to find that despite the almost (as the crow flies) 10,000 miles (9794 to be precise) that lies between Kalamazoo (MI, USA) and Melbourne (Victoria, Australia) (thats 15,761 km's), not to mention the numerous transit ports for mail, transitioning through customs in the US and Australia, that my order of various odd shaped bits and pieces, arrived here on my doorstep with a friendly knock from my local "postie" just seven days after ordering!!! As I have said in separate thanks communication to the Stevensons and all at Alfred E. Bike, it is simply "bloody awesome stuff".
I will definitely be back to buy more gear from these guys, and I heartily recommend them based on my very successful experience of this week.

"This was my first order with Alfred E. Bike. I was referred to them by Planet Bike, because I was looking for a vendor who would ship a Planet Bike product to Japan. After a preliminary email to confirm they could ship internationally, I placed my order via Alfred E. Bike's online shopping cart. Soon after placing my online order, I received an email informing me that the shipping charges would be a bit higher than the automatically-quoted charges shown by the online shopping cart 'bot. I confirmed my acceptance via email as requested. Alfred E. Bike's website's shipping FAQ says that international orders may take up to three weeks to arrive, due to customs delays at the receiving end. I am very happy to report that my order arrived just 8 days and 23 hours after placing my online order! My complete order arrived promptly and intact. The only slightly mysterious point is that the online version of my order does not show the change in shipping and handling charges. The paper invoice that came with the shipment does show the change, however.
I am completely satisfied and pleased with Alfred E. Bike's prompt service, and I will purchase from them again. "

4) but best of all -- I made a specific inquiry/request with my order. they replied within 24 hours with a personal, very specific response signed by ....a real person.
Their website is rather primitive, but don't let that stop you.
They'll be my first stop for all bike parts, from now on.
