Allposters.com - great merchandise, poor shipping practices and terrible customer service

"On 4/24, I purchased six posters from AllPosters.com at a great price +$9.94 for shipping. It also turned out I live in Columbus, only 40 minutes north of the location they ship from, Lockbourne, OH. You'd think this would be a pretty quick and easy local delivery and Allposters could pocket some extra revenue. However, the original delivery date, 4/29, (already 5 days, and again I live 40 minutes away) came and went and no posters. I tend to be a patient person so I wasn't upset.
That was a Saturday. On Monday, 5/1, at about 2PM I sent an email to customer service. I also posted a message to their facebook page figuring maybe I'd get a response. Having received no response by 6PM I went ahead and called customer service and, after a very short wait, got a human being and explained the situation and that the estimated delivery date had changed from the 29th by end of day to just "pending". In a very ho-hum response I was just told to wait a few more days.
So the next call was to their "shipping partner" FedEx where I was able to put a trace on the package (something the AllPosters CSR probably should have done).
At this point, I'm still not upset by any of this. I'm more just amused and somewhat amazed at the incompetence of it all.
So on Tuesday, 5/2, I wake up to find an email response from Allposters (arrived at 11PM the previous night) with another "ho-hum, that's just how our shipping works" response, telling me the package should be delivered by 5/4. However, I also received an email from FedEx telling me the package has finally been delivered to USPS and will be out for delivery on 5/2 (which tells me the Allposters CSR never actually even followed up with FedEx themselves). Not surprised but it makes me chuckle and shake my head.
So a bit later in the morning I get actually get a response to the facebook message I sent with yet ANOTHER "ho-hum that's just how our shipping works" message, this time going a little more in depth as to why the cost. Again, mostly amused I send back how amazing it is that it takes a week and my manual intervention to send a package to what is, for all intents and purposes, a local address, and how that doesn't instill confidence in their services.
Knowing this person just works in Customer Service and probably has no real insight into the shipping department's operations I include a message that outlines what a package the size and weight of mine should cost and the ETAs associated. Shipping nationally through USPS for what I paid (Priority Service) I should have received it within 1-3 business days. After having had to call FedEx myself I've received the package at the very outside of the Media Mail ETA (2-8 business days and half the cost).
I actually laughed out loud (and scared the cat) at the response I got, that they didn't want to sound indifferent but that someone living close to Lockbourne would have a different perspective than someone living across the country. Not once did an Allposters CSR offer to track down the package. Not once did they offer to reduce or refund the shipping cost for the inconvenience (and I'd like to stress that I don't care that much about the shipping cost but if you want to keep a customer that's the correct thing to do). The only thing I got was an explanation over and over of how their shipping works except in this case their shipping and their customer service was a failure. I'm left feeling that if I hadn't taken the initiative to call FedEx myself my package would still be sitting on a shelf or in the bottom of a truck somewhere. Sorry Allposters. Dismal failure on all counts.

"Not much to say, really. Easily searched website; very attractive and frequent sales; huge selection; speedy order fulfillment; reasonable shipping charges. Can't ask for more.
