"Ordered discs from their "RentAnime Overstock" sale... one of my worst DVD-purchasing experiences ever... the sale noted that "most discs are brand new, with only light wear on a few"...

The discs I received all exhibited wear, some extremely bad wear, and all had horrendous barcode stickers on them that I did not remove for fear of damaging the discs. If that wasn't bad enough, two of the discs had been completely mislabeled on the website, and were totally different than what I had agreed to purchase.

Returning the discs was annoying, and I had to push extra hard to receive a reimbursement of costs to ship the discs back to them.

"Have never had an issue with this company ordering a variety of merchandise multiple times since 2001. Latest purchase was a pre-order for an import figure, which was just sent to me in great shape. Sent frequent emails to update on status; especially since import figure release dates are never set in stone and this figure was no exception. Prices are reasonable, but not the best; merchandise selection is decent. Would consider ordering from them again, although they are not my first choice for anime/manga goods."

"wonderful site. I ordered two things from them (one was available, while the other was preordered), and I was eligible for free shipping and so I decided to give it a go. Since Economy wasn't trackable, I decided to wait for one of my items to arrive. Alas, 8 days after their confirmation (which arrived to my inbox on the 20th), I recieved my Final Fantasy VII: AC Ost in the mail safely packaged in a orange envelope with air bubbles inside. So far, I'm very impressed by this and their messageboard was pretty helpful, as well. I will definitely order from them again in the very future.

edit: I will edit this post once my purchase of the Cloud+Fenrir motorcycle figure comes next March. I will expect this item, due to its fragile-ness, to come in one piece. Will return sometime during March once it ships to my house. ^_^

Edit 2/2/06: AN got their shipment of the Cloud + Fenrir toy much earlier than they expected! Yes! The item shipped to me few days later and arrived yesterday and the toy looks awesome. It was carefully packed with paper and the toy is in excellent condition. thank you AN!

"Excellent people! Every single time i've ordered from them my CDs have been sent from Tampa up to Ottawa Canada, and arrived in MINT condition. I called them a few times about a couple issues, and they were some of the most helpful people i've ever delt with. Very good prices as well. "

"I ordered a CD from Animenation on the 10th of July. Only the 11th, they sent me an email saying that the item was not in stock, with no notification when it should ship (this was not indicated on the webpage when I purchased the item). On the 14th, I sent an email to cancel the order, and purchased the CD through another company. I received no notice about the cancellation, so I sent a second email on the 21st to cancel it. On the 28th, I received notice that my order had been shipped, and my credit card had been charged.

I'm extremely disappointed that they disregarded both emails to cancel the order. I'm in the process of seeing if they will refund my money. I will update when I receive more information.

Besides that, I dislike the fact that you can't see if they have an item in stock, and you can't view or cancel or order through the website. It's unfortunate because their prices are pretty good compared to their competition.

UPDATE: 8/6/05

It's been over a week since I sent an email asking for refund information, but I've received no response. I've decided to give up hope in getting anything from them, and will instead resell the CD. This is the worst customer service I've experienced so far (at least I got the item though). Shop here at your own risk.

UPDATE: 8/12/05

After sending a complaint email to their sales email address, I finally received a response from their customer service. The person who responded said he answers most of the email for the company, and he honestly never received my emails. I find that strange, but I do believe him. I'm in the process of returning the item for a full refund.

Final update: 9/3/05

I have returned the item for a refund of the purchase price plus shipping with no problems whatsoever. I still wouldn't recommend them until they improve their customer support and website (it would be nice to be able to track order status online and know which items are in stock before purchasing), but my opinions have improved a bit.

"Their website is okay, but it never actually tells you if the products are in stock. I ordered the Katamari Damashi soundtrack from AnimeNation, but was never informed that it was backordered for 2 weeks. Once I emailed customer service on where my order was, I finally got my response that it was backordered 2 weeks, and that I was supposed to recieve an email that said that it was backordered (which I didn't). I would highly reccomend that you find what you want to purchase somewhere else and buy it there. Their shipping options are also highly limited, with either USPS First Class or 2nd Day Air as the options for ordering within the United States.

EDIT: It is now the 2nd week into May, and my order still has not shipped. AnimeNation keeps claiming that the product wasn't in this shipment of imports from Japan. I HIGHLY suggest that you purchase from anyone else.
