"I read the reviews of this store AFTER I made my order. I got a little worried and thought about canceling my purchase. I ordered on May 29th and received a tracking number on June 3rd. I received my package on June 9th, which was kind of long IMO. Overall, if you have the patience go ahead and order from these guys. They are not all that bad and they ship things nicely packaged. I have not experienced their customer service yet so I have no comment on that. Knock off a star or 2 because of slow shipping."

"I orderd a DI unit the said they were in stock 48 hours later I recieve an email saying we are out ?!? We have tried to contact them to no avail and they charged us for it ! I finally got hold of some one nearly 4 days later and was told that this was their policy ...They are RUDE and OBNOXIOUS and dont care that they have a poor rating amongst customers I would NOT ever recomend them for anything even if they advertise it as free ... Update ... after contacting the SAG office I did recieve a refund ... they tracked me down on another site and denied mistreating me or any other customers ... The "owner" says I could have spoke to him , I believe I did speak with him and his words were nasty and full of venom ! Yet in the message he sent me he still REFUSED to give me a number to contact him directly !! I still would not ever order from them agian ! ... "
"Customer service was TERRIBLE. My shipment was never delivered but my credit card was charged. When I tracked my package, it seemed to be stuck between PA & NY (I'm in CT). I called customer service twice to let them know but never received a call back. I finally contacted a sales person at the company directly and asked for a refund - they credited the cost of the items but they've refused to refund the shipping charge ($9). I do tons of online shopping and this is the WORST experience I've ever had."
"BAD STORE TO SHOP. I made two seperate orders from AquariumGuys. Huge mistake. I will never buy from them again. I bought a wet/dry trickle filter but one of the hoses going from the overflow box to the sump was damaged. After 2 e-mails and a phone call I finally got a response to send it back. Finally I get the replacement but it is the wrong item. Another e-mail and they I get a response basically saying it is not our problem and I need to contact the manufacturer. That is so WRONG. If I ever buy an item and see that it is defective before I am done opening the box I go back to the people I bought it from. Everybody else in America does it that same way and the store fixes the problem without the run-around. I am happy I work in a retail pet store. I have recommended this outfit for items we do not carry. Never again. All because of a part that costs less than twenty bucks that I needed replaced."
"I showed my dad this website and the reviews that were on it but he didnt listen. he ordered a 250 dollar filter and he realized it was the wrong size. So the day after he had ordered it we had called them back to cancel it. they told us no problem. 2 days later the money was taken from his credit card. I decided to call them back and solve this whole problem. all they made was broken promises. it would be taken care of. finally after a month of waiting and 5 phone calls I decided to no longer be little miss nice girl. I called and pretty much hounded the girl on the other side of the phone. instead of friendly customer service she had the nerve to give me attitude. so i threatened and gave her an equal amount of grief.
In the end they are a shotty company with terrible customer service. If they were a person i would punch them in the face."
"Placed order with this company then read reviews from here and got worried. Ended up sending the company an unpleasant email based on the reviews and promptly received a reply stating my order would be shipped asap (This was on a Friday). Order was shipped out Monday via FedEx and received tracking number Tuesday. Order arrived on Thursday packed very well and complete. Am very satisfied with my purchase made."

The one item came in broken and I e-mailed them and never recieved a responce, so I guess I am out the money and the product. I did end up purchasing the same item from drfostersmith.com and had a great experience. I did have to contact their customer support and I love them. If you value your money and want to do buisness with a reputable company you WILL NOT buy from aquarium guys. If i could give a lower star than a 1 I would!!! "I ordered a medium piece of driftwood from here on Friday, 1/11/08. I got the order confirmation a few minutes later but accidentally deleted it. I sent them an email and they replied in less than 24 hours saying they would send me another one as soon as it becomes available to them(shouldn't they have it already?) and that my order will be shipping in the next 24-48 hours. This was Wednesday, 1/16/08. My order was on my step today. I was really pleased with them. I only live in New Jersey so the distance contributed to their speed. "

"I read the comments about this store the day after I placed my order, and they scared the CRAP out of me. I thought at the time that it was unusual that it had not shipped by then. I tried to call and cancel, but got an answering service as described by someone else. They could only tell me that my card had been charged already and that they would email the store to call me. I never got the call. However, two days later I got an email that it shipped (which was a Friday). I've been tracking it all weekend and it is due here on Monday. And this is between Thanksgiving and Christmas. So my experience didn't turn out as bad as I was expecting after visiting this sight. Probably won't buy from here again, though, because of the other reviews and I'm pretty impatient."
"Still no order. Visa charged 14 days ago. Weak email about holding order for 1 item. Advised to cancel item and ship anyway a week ago. No order shipped as of today.
Company used to be prompt and give great service. Now I feel like a victim of FRAUD.
I gave them until the 30th to ship, then I'm getting a refund through my Visa.
If you're in a hurry or actually need your order, buy it somewhere else!
12/01/07 UPDATE:
I received half of my order this week (the cheap half). I also received an email with the FedEx tracking # AFTER the box arrived. I sent 2 emails asking when missing items will be shipped, neither email has been acknowledged.
I am amazed at this company's business practices. If I treated my customers this poorly, I'd be unemployed.
UPDATE 12/03/07
The rest of my order arrived today (6 days short of a month) I was never sent a tracking #. None of my emails were ever returned.
Lesson learned. Never again.
Between Big Al's and petsolutions.com, everything Aquariumguys sells is available at very similar pricing. PLUS, they actually communicate with their customers and ship out quickly.
I'll pay more if it means knowing when my stuff is coming, and actually getting it in a reasonable amount of time."
"Good lord, I wish I'd read the reviews here before buying from this merchant! There was a small difference in price between aquariumguys and another merchant (which others have rated fine) - sadly, I went with the few cents of savings and have lost many dollars' worth of patience. They are truly, truly terrible, and I am not normally an especially demanding consumer. I placed an order 10/7, paid for it via paypal, and received an order confirmation. Aftet 2 weeks, I started to wonder where my order was. I called. They use some sort of outsourced phone service - the ONLY thing this service can do is e-mail the merchant and ask them to call. Did they? Of course not! I called twice more over the next week. I e-mailed. Never any answer or acknowledgement. When I finally, in desperation, filed a dispute with paypal, the merchant claimed I had "cancelled the order." If so, then why had they continued to keep my money? I know a lot of people slam paypal, but at least they were able to assist in some small measure and my money was refunded. According to one of their bogus "reps" I spoke to on the toll-free number, items are drop-shipped to buyers - in other words, they don't actually keep the items in stock, they order from a manufacturer or distributor and have them shipped to you. So they really have no way of knowing when the item will get to you, and have a complete lack of courtesy and honesty in telling you that. They tell you nothing and let you sit and stew while they have your cash. Avoid unless you are a masochist!"
"I've ordered things hundreds of time to this address with that credit card without problem however when I ordered here they sent me an address error. My fish need an RO filter and are dying. It arrived the 18 nearly two weeks later."
