"The laptop battery I purchased from BattPros was exactly what my daughter needed. She is thrilled.
The main reason I bought from BattPros was the Free Shipping offered on my $55.41 order. The other sites I looked at would have cost more when shipping was included. I upgraded the shipping to UPS
Ground for $1.95, as my order was a Christmas present. I would normally have gone with the free shipping and the 8-10 day delivery time. Apparently the upgrade was a waste of money as the laptop battery arrived in the same time frame as the free shipping would have. I know it was just before Christmas but why not either drop the option for the $1.95 upgrade in the shopping cart, leaving only the more expensive overnight/2 day upgrades, or at least include an explanation that the $1.95 upgrade would be arriving in the same time frame as the free shipping so consumers can save their money and not generate any potential unrealistic expectations and bad feelings. I looked for such an explanation and found none on the website or shopping cart page. I assumed the $1.95 extra for UPS Ground would arrive faster. It did not. Again, let's blame it on Christmas.
I note that my order was placed on Friday Dec 17 around 1:17pm PST, per confirmation email I received, but did not appear to be processed until Mon Dec 20. Apparently my order was so deep in the queue that it missed being processed before the 2pm deadline that day or the product was not in stock. I checked the tracking on it several times over the weekend and found no status update until Mon. In any case I received no follow up email informing me that I could expect a change in arrival time as promised on your Shipping webpage:

I am not unhappy. As a consumer I am just pointing out what appear, from my perspective, to be a couple of rough edges in the ordering process. Your ordering appears to be handled by others, as opposed to in-house. I am not new to ordering on-line. I have been doing so for several years. I will be in the market for a new battery for my Dell laptop in a year or so and will include you in my search for that product.

"The battery I was sent was defective. The company said it did not have a battery it could send me in exchange, and asked me simply to return the defective battery. Though I paid for shipping in both directions, the company initially told me that its policy did not include shipping reimbursement (see company email below). Here is the email from the company:

Awful business practice – particularly when I know that companies make a good profit margin on shipping. That means your company profited from a totally defective product, while I got cost and inconvenience and delay. Not much of a customer experience.

I then posted the first version of this review.
The company then contacted me and offered me more reimbursement for my shipping costs, claiming that its policy was in fact to reimburse for shipping charges in both directions and that the customer service rep who had told me otherwise had erred. Here is the company's second email, which appears to contradict the company's actual policy as stated at http://www.battpros.com/return-policy.html:
"I understand from your feedback that you returned a defective / incompatible battery to us but were not credited for shipping charges. I am writing to explain the situation and ensure you that issue will be resolved today.
"We have a system that generates prepaid UPS shipping label and make them available to customers (upon their request) who are retuning a product. In the past, our customers were required to use one of these labels to return a product. Later we discovered that it was of inconvenience to some customers if they are asked to return a product only via UPS. For this reason, we decided to allow returns to be made by any shipping method of our customers’ convenience. Customers still can request a prepaid UPS Shipping Label to be emailed to them.
"Our record does not show that you have ever requested a shipping label to be emailed to you. On the other hand, it doesn’t show that our customer service agent has ever offered you this service. I believe cause of the problem is the failure made by our Customer Service Representative.
"In order to meet your satisfaction, we have decided to reimburse you for the shipping charge you incurred to return the product. In addition, the $3 shipping fee that you paid while you were placing your order will also be credited. Please let me know how much it cost you to return the product and I will request a cheque to be mailed to you today."
This initially sounded very good to me. But then I looked at the link the first rep had given me. In fact this most recent contact does NOT appear to have correctly stated the company's return policy. The link provided by the first rep leads to this: "Shipping charges, if any, are non-refundable. You are responsible for any cost associated with shipping the product safely to our return facility". If you must return something to BattPros, be prepared to post a review of whatever policy you actually are offered.
Although BattPros appears to have been motivated to grease the squeaky wheel here, rather than to modify its refund policy, I have increased my overall rating from 1 to 2 stars.

Only down side is when ordering it said, item was in stock and available for same day ship out. I ordered on 12/17/10 hoping to have a Christmas arrival but my card wasn't charged until 12/22/10 and it arrived over a week after Christmas. Overall I am pleased with the product and price and would order from you again.
