"We have a contemporary bed that looks best with an 8" thick mattress. I was concerned that a foam or latex mattress would sleep too hot, as I have an issue with hot flashes, but it is impossible to find a nice 8" innerspring. My local shopping experience was frustrating, so I decided to try online. I chose Bedinabox for its high ratings, plus the no-risk trial, and have been pleased beyond all expectation.

ORDERING EXPERIENCE: We ordered the PacBed Original and an Outlast waterproof mattress protector. I phoned customer service first to ask a few questions and they were very pleasant and helpful. Ordering was simple and the mattress arrived in 3 days. It was well-packed and easy to unpack and set up on the bed.

POSITIVES: The mattress is great! The cover is simple but well-made. The mattress is very comfortable both for me (side sleeper, 5'7", 120 lb) and for my husband (multi-position, 6', 193 lb). It is the summer, our bedroom is about 78 degrees at night, and I have slept cooler than on our old innerspring mattress. The mattress pad likely contributes. The Outlast pad was pricey, but reviews of the gold series pads suggest that they really work.

NEGATIVES: There was a slight foam smell for about 5 days, but nothing overwhelming. The mattress could be improved by having an edge support of firm foam, which I liked when testing foam mattresses in stores, but it is not a huge issue.

BOTTOM LINE: I was willing to spend $2000 on a mattress but this $700 mattress is perfect! I cannot assess longevity at this point but at this price, I could replace it every 5 years and spend roughly my allocated $2000. Bottom line, great comfort, quality, value and service."
