Rent Elsewhere! Inadequate insurance

"Boatsetters has a deductible of $7500 on their insurance policy. We all hope that accidents don't happen, but an afternoon on the lake could end up costing you a small fortune. My friend had to sell their car to pay the deductible."

Renters go nuts, owners beware.

"As a boat owner I’ve used Boatsetter for a few years and so far it’s been good, not great. When my boat was recently damaged by a renter I felt confident that I covered, I was wrong, They gladly accepted each renters insurance premium but when it came time to pay for a legitimate claim they denied it.
Owner beware, renter have a blast.
I will not be using this sorry excuse for a company any more. Happy boating.

Never trust boatsetter

"A complete scam! NEVER EVER USE THEM! I booked a boat a month ago and they cancel 24 hours in advance when there are no other boat options available and essentially tell me tough luck and not their problem. Beyond unprofessional and never to be trusted"

SCAMSETTER

"I rented a boat that had mechanical issues. The previous renter the day prior to my rental had the same issue. I returned the boat then the renter put an insurance claim in that I caused the mechanical issue. This is incorrect I tried to contact Boatsetter they refused to let me speak to a person (email only) this email only auto responds the same message every time. Boatsetter charged me both rental days (the boat cost plus booking fees and insurance fees, 50% of the cost) outrageous fees, security deposit and stated they do not pay repairs under 7500$. They refused to communicate or investigate this boat owners fraud. I paid for insurance the boat owner pays for insurance and then the insurance doesn’t cover anything and they charge my credit cards.. STAY AWAY FROM BOATSETTER if this isn’t illegal it should be"

Beware of Boatsetter dangerous operation.

"Beware!!! First off Boatsetter should not be renting out boats that are not maintained for safety. We found out that the boat was not in proper working order when we were out on the water. The speedometer failed, the horn barely made noise and the engine was not maintained and failed. There was only one ore on the boat, inefficient for paddling that size of boat. We could not find a flare or anchor on the boat. The contact person did not have the training to be sending people out on boats nor should he be the contact person in case something happens. He kept texting about calling the coast guard. That is for boats 3 miles off the coast. He should have called the Orange County Sheriff Department immediately after we contacted him. Now Boatsetter is coming after us for $7,500. They are running a dangerous operation and do not take responsibility for the boats or your safety. "

Great experience using Boatsetter!

"Boatsetter's concept is very helpful and much better than what I've been used to before when it comes to renting boats. With all of the usual paperwork and verification taking place behind the scenes, it's much easier to simply look for boats I like and reserve them asap. Since it is a marketplace, there may be some boat owners who may be better at "customer service" than others, but thankfully Boatsetter's customer support was able to help me when needed. This is my second time using Boatsetter and can see that the company itself is doing a good job, even if there may be a few "poor" boat owners who slip through the crack."

DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY

"DO NOT TRUST THIS COMPANY. My fiancé inquired about a boat rental about a week ago, and the boat owner took it upon himself to book us for $1300 with no approval to do so whatsoever. When questioned, the boat owner (Asilbek) brushed us off and told us to take it up with the company. Our experience trying to get anywhere with customer service (the reps name is Riley) has been nothing short of miserable. Since there is no way to contact this company via phone, we have been at the mercy of their incredibly slow email responses. So far they have basically told us they are sorry we booked the boat and didn’t use it and that unless the boat owner wants to refund us, there is nothing they can do…Completely ignored the fact that we did NOT tell the boat owner to move forward with the booking. How are the boat owners running this company?? This business is incredibly shady and assumes no responsibility for the people they are allowing to do business on their app/website.. I would avoid them at all costs."

"WATCH OUT

WATCH OUT! We had a boat booked and paid for with Ryan. Ryan sent me a text saying he had someone that wanted to rent his boat for 2 days and then the next message, is a cancelation notice.

We had family plans for Father Day on the lake with our 4 kids. His response "It is refundable". He missed the point!

Slimmy way of doing business! Beware, he will dump you for a better offer and Boatsetter allows this type of vendor.

Horrible Experience

"I rented a boat on boatsetters for my friends 40th Birthday. YESTERDAY'S charter was terrible. After having discussions with Caption Gordon on the app. It was understood that the guest of honor only drinks white wine. I asked could we bring 4 bottles on board for her. I understood that to be ok. He said he would also get the type of wine she drinks. It was also understood that we wanted to be picked up and dropped off at Pier 6 the restaurant. Gordon said he thought i meant pier 6 where he docked. We chartered the boat from 2 till 6pm. He picked us up at 3:15pm. Said we could not have the wine onboard.  Then got into an argument with his wife CARRIE about not getting the wine.  We where dropped off at a different location at 515pm and forced to pay 300 for fuel 212.00 for drinks and a 320.00 tip that we HAD to pay by zelle or cashapp.  He said he would uber us to the restaurant. Our group was all women in a empty marina.  I called Gordon at 530 and asked what time was the uber. He said 6:20.  We had a 30 minute drive and we had restaurant reservations at 630.  His uber was t going to be there until 620. I have no problem paying for the drinks or the gas but TIPPING him for a awful experience NO! I have attached the INVOICE for the drinks gas and tip.  I tried to speak to him about refunding the tip.and he would not. Not to mention we paid for 4 hours and got two.
