"Been with them for several years. Had a customer get so much water in the boat that the motor sucked water into the engine. Customer reported that the boat ran bad all day, customer continued to use the boat. Customer ran into a wave that came over the bow of the boat. Take the boat to the dealer, both dealer and surveyor say it was customer negligence. Boatsetter left me holding the bag for 9k on a new motor. And had the tenacity to offer me $50.00 more per rental for 10 rentals. When I met with them a couple years ago, I ran a scenario simular to this and they said that I was covered no mater what happens while the customer has the boat. Well apparently not and it does not even warrant a phone call from any one."

"I have been renting my 2 boats through Boatsetter since 2014. Obviously the experience has been positive since the relationship continues through 2019. If pressed, I'd say the one thing that would improve the process would be more up-front vetting of potential renters by Boatsetter. Currently any vetting of renters regarding their boating experience level is done by the owner. "

"Boatsetter makes it so difficult to rent because it is so controlling. They disallow any personal contact between the owner & renter which disuades trust and likelihood of purchase. They're also dishonest about why they do so...telling you it's about security when we all know it's about paranoia that the renter and owner will "cheat" the system. What I don't understand is why? The value is holding the money and the insurance...why would people cheat the system when the value is in insurance and safegarding the transaction? Sure, some people will cheat (those same people will also get burned) but not many...I can only imagine how many rentals are lost because of untrusing policy....I know I backed out about 20 times. It makes me resent the company and its philosophy. Looking forward to a competitor with shared values or un-paranoid CEO."

They supported us through the whole experience. From set up to clean up with a phone call in between, they were always available and super positive. If we come back to this area we would only rent from the two of them! Wonderful!"
