"Called to order a sony trv-900 camcorder and after declining on overpriced accessories I was told to order thru web site after which I was sent an e-mail telling me to call and "verify" order. After long phone wait finally got to talk to right person who said that the item was not in stock as I was told the day before so cancelled order. Very frustrating!"
"Had a difficult time getting someone on the phone to take an order the first few times calling.
Finally got someone on the phone to take the order for a Sony digital camera. The salesman identified himself as "Vinnie".
There was a bit of the usual rigamarole about selling accessories, but no heavy sales pressure. Just a few suggested items such as extra battery, filter lenses, and bag.
In fact, at his suggestion, we opted for the extended time battery at a cost of $79, which seemed a bit expensive. But having done no further research I didn't pursue the price further.
Once the order was placed, we asked for a tracking number. They did not have this info immediately available, but said we could call back to get it later.
Was able to call back two days later and get the tracking number without a hassle.
I was annoyed with the initial difficulty in placing an order. My secretary was actually on hold for 30 minutes the first time and eventually gave up. But this did seem to improve on subsequent calls, so maybe just hit them on a bad day.
They were lucky my secretary was persistant....I simply would have moved onto the next retailer on the list.
BOTTOM LINE: It wasn't the best experience I've had with on-line retailers, but it was far from being the worst. I'd be willing to give them another shot, as long as I didn't have to wait on hold for more than about 10 minutes."
"Simply. I re-iterate everyone else's negative comments. Olympus C-4040 was 600.00 at the time but when they were done it was 991.08. bait and switch...all that....and the camera never really took a good picture. I realize the C-4040 is probably the most difficult digital to operate but i have decided to send it to Olympus and let them hash it out... and yes it was the unbelievable re-stocking and shipping that made us (forced us) to keep it. we would have had to pay 250.00 just for the pleasure of test driving it. I have contacted the office of the state's attorney general in my state and they are interested. I think they may have violated some Federal laws also. I guess we'll see. Maybe they have pushed their proverbial luck too far."
