"This may be a broken record but I tried to by a Cannon Scanner at $300 below market price. I called to check on the status and was told that it was backed-ordered by 3 weeks but I could buy one with a warrentee immediately for sbout $75 below market price.

They claim that they post this policy of selling GREY Products on their site but I could not find it.

THEREFORE A WORD OF CAUTION: If you want the original manufacture's warrentee, look elsewhere than Broadway Camera or be prepared to pay about list price. DO NOT TRUST THIS OPERATION!

I CANCELLED MY ORDER.

"I have been shopping online for a mini dv camcorder and have settled on the sony trv25.
I found one for 600.00 (900.00 MSRP) and then happened upon broadway photo. I called and sure enough the price was 400.00. The catch came when I asked about the warrianty. I was told that the factory warrianty was not availiable because the units are imported, but that I could buy an additional warrianty for 200.00. Aren't all of the units imported??? They are made overseas right? I could already smell the stink surrounding this company.

I called sony and they said that a factory warrianty not only depends on the serial and date of purchase, but also on the price. Hunh? It turns out that sony wants you to pay the "retail price" or "very close to the retail price". Oh well. I was very pleased to find this site and will be checking all of my facts here from now on. DO NOT BUY FROM BROADWAY PHOTO!!!!!Hope this was helpful.

"Hello,
My name is Henry Choi from state of Arizona. I recently try to purchase a mini DV from you guys. The web site was great with user-friendly surf, nice graphics, and great information about products. After I put in my order, I notice I had a typo on my address. I called the 1-800 number to notify the issue. Next thing I know I get transfer 20 times from one representative to another, waiting more then 15 min. Finally I hung up and I told myself I could try it next day. Several hours later, I received an email stating that I have to call the 1-800 number with extension 213. I called couple time, but nobody answered. I tried to reach the number today Aug 28, but the number was busy for hours. Finally I got through and I got to talk to representative on extension 213. He ask me if I needed a extended battery and couple other items, but I said no since I wanted to try the camcorder first to see if I like it. I asked him couple questions about shipping and cost, he answered in a really rude and disrespectful way. When I put in the order, I chose 3day shipping. I asked him if I can received the product by Friday 30th . He told me it wouldn’t get there until 3 or 4 weeks later. When I ask why, he told me he couldn’t hear me and he wanted me to call him from regular phone line. He just hung up. I called right back to cancel my order. "Not sure why I didn't check this site before ordering from these scam artists; it would have saved me a month of my time and I'd have had my camera 3 weeks ago.

They are nothing more than what these posts indicate: a bait and switch scam artist.

I placed an order with them on 7-17 for an Olympus C-3040Z and their website gave no indication that the item was out of stock. Quick confirmation email, etc., all looked good.

Then I got the "you need to call us to confirm your order" call, sigh. They're getting slightly slicker because this call was played off as a "we wanted to let you know the item is out of stock for 2-3 weeks and wanted to verify you still want it" call. The salesman did try to sell me some accessories but but I told him that I already had everything which stopped the pressure.

Two weeks later, no sign of the camera. While checking the website for an order tracking, noticed that there were two Olympus C-3040Z cameras listed with *identical* descriptions but $200 difference in price. Called to inquire and was told that the more expensive one was their executive package with the optional accessories. I was then told that my camera was going to take another 3-4 weeks to ship but for only $50 more I could have the updated model - I said no thanks, was pressured further, argh. For some reason I didn't cancel the order then.

Two more weeks go by and called again to inquire... Yup, it's still 3-4 weeks away and, hey, now they'll sell me the updated model for only $70 more - apparently they think the more desperate you become the more they can milk you for.

I called another company to verify they had the camera in stock (yes, it's about $30 more expensive but it IS in stock and will ship the next business day). I then called Broadway back to cancel the order and got treated to some of the rudest B.S. I've ever gotten from a business. The line was that they weren't engaged in any fraudulent practices because the camera was a discontinued model and they couldn't get it in, sure. I still don't know if the guy cancelled my order correctly but he better well have.

Conclusion: Do not waste your time with this company. Even assuming you could call, verify that it is exactly the model you want, it is in stock, and will ship within 2 days for the price on the website they simply do not deserve anyone's business. Pay a little more somewhere else but get real service.

"This company has no intention of selling a camera at the advertised price. The camera is priced low to up first on search sites. If you don't buy the outrageously overpriced accessories, they don't sell you the camera. The worst part is that they don't have the guts to tell you. They take your order as though they are really selling you something. Then your order just dies. When you call back, they just tell you the camera is on backorder. I called back (the last time) more than six weeks after ordering. They said the camera was on backorder for 21 business days. My advice would be STAY AWAY FROM THESE LOSERS!!!!!"

"I had the same "bait & switch" experience as many other posters.

When the rep on the phone put me on hold to "check with the shipping department" she was only gone for about 10 seconds... they're not even bothering to fake it!

I wouldn't deal with this place again if there was no other way to buy consumer electronics. I'd live in a cave first.

"Another bait and switch operation. I tried to buy a Sony TRV340 at their web site but I couldn't get the web site to accept my order. The "Submit" button didn't work. I called them to order by phone. The salesperson first took my credit card info and then he told me the camera's standard battery would only last 15 to 20 minutes and that I would need an extended life battery to be able to use the camera. He then said a $200 filter set was also necessary. Then he said the camera had NO warranty because it was "International"(Gray market)and I should pay $100 extra for the USA mode that has a warranty. I politely declined each offer. He then said he would check to find out if the camera was in fact in stock. He put me on hold for a few seconds and then said the camera was out of stock. He said it would be 21 days before THEY get the camera since it's coming from over seas. I said fine, I'll wait. I don't expect them to ever ship me this camera. It's way too cheap and since I didn't buy their overpriced accessories, I feel sure they are going to loose my order.
Update: It's been three weeks and Bway says the camcorder is still backordered. This is bull, the camcorder is widely available. They'll never send me this camcorder unless the price drops to what they are offering it for. I've cancelled my order. I checked the "WhoIs" at http://www.geektools.com/cgi-bin/proxy.cgi and found out that Broadway Photo is the same outfit as DigitalLiquidators.com, another SCAM outfit.

"Classic bait and switch operation. After I placed my order on their web site for a Sony TRV340 camcorder I received an email asking me to call them "for verification purposes". I called and the rep put me on hold and when he came back he told me he had just sent someone into their warehouse to make sure the camera was in stock. While waiting for this, the rep told me the standard battery would only last 15 to 20 minutes and that I would need a long life battery to be able to actually use the camera. He then said a $200 filter set was necessary. Then he said the camera only had a 90 day warranty and I should buy their extended warranty. I politely declined each offer knowing full well that he was lying to me about these shortcomings. He then said he would check to find out if the camera was in fact in stock. He put me on hold for a few seconds and then said the camera was out of stock. I said that the web page said it was "Available". He said the web page doesn't get updated everyday. He said it would be 14 to 21 days before THEY get the camera and then they would ship it to me. I said fine, but I don't expect them to ever ship me this camera. It's way too cheap and since I didn't buy into their lies and purhace their overpriced accessories, they are going to loose my order.

Update: It's now been over 2 weeks and Digital Liquidators says the camcorder is still backordered. This is bull, the camcorder is widely available. They'll never send me this camcorder unless the price drops to what they are offering it for. I've cancelled my order. I checked the "WhoIs" at http://www.geektools.com/cgi-bin/proxy.cgi and found out that Broadway Photo is the same outfit as Broadway Photo, another SCAM outfit.

"I placed an order on the website for a sony Digital Camera. The order form showed the item in stock, and the item was featured as a special. I added 2-day FedEx air shipping.

A little while later I received an email confirmation that my ordered was in and the item would ship.

The next day I received a second email asking me to call and clarify some details about the order.

First, I was told that the camera came with a "20-minute" battery and I needed to upgrad to a high capacity battery. This is the Sony F707 camera, and this info from the salesperson, who identified as the manager, Jake Miller, was not true.

I said I didn't need any accessories. Then Jake said he was going to have to refund my money for two-day shipping. I thanked him, but then he said that he just learned the camera was out of stock. I said that the website showed it in stock. He said that it was not possible to keep the website up-to-date. However, he said, eventually they would fix it, and if I wanted to check everyday I could.

Then he said he would put the camera on backorder. I asked how long? He didn't know. A couple of weeks or more. He said I'd receive an email.

I cancelled the order. Hopefully they have also refunded my money as he said he would do. I hope this doesn't end up a big problem with the credit card company.

Needless to say, I don't recommend this place. I don't know why this company and similar ones are kept in the search engines.

"I also tried this company, because it´s one of the cheapest resellers on the web (e.g. bizrate.com) I´ve ordered 4 Cameras to take them home to Germany, where digital cameras cost about 30 % more than in the U.S. I also got an email to call back for verification purposes. The didn´t ask me anything to be verified, but informed me, that the cameras where "greymarket" ones, without any "accessories", which are normally delivered (charger, flash card, batteries, WARANTY). I confirmed this order without any accessories, which are about the same price in Germany. And now the delivery time for the whole stuff was 4-6 weeks, despite they were "in stock" on their website. This was too long for me. And finally i found this page "resellerratings.com" through a search engine. I´m kind happy to order elsewhere. "

"Called them - talked to sales. Was going to buy a F707 digital camera. Sales agreed it was gray market, full (basic) accessories. and it was INSTOCK.

I refused to buy additional accessories. Hung up on me once. 2nd call back. Same deal - INSTOCK. Transfered me to shipping (did not take payment info, hmmm) - shipping said there were none available...

They aren't stealing but it's a DEFINITE SCAM.

"Actually, it wasn't that bad. Here is the given: (1) you will be pressured to buy overpriced accessories, (2) you will never get a camera if you refuse the accessories AND the mack warranty. If you are willing to buy their way overpriced warranty, you will get a camcorder.

Here's my experience:
Step 1: I call to purchase JUST the TRV900. I get put on hold and the line goes dead.
Step 2: Same thing.
Step 3: I realize that I will never get the TRV900 for 1100 as advertised, but I figure that even if I get the 400 3 year Mack warranty I am still coming out ahead when compared to B&H's prices. So I call back, state that I want the TRV900 and the warranty and I am instantly put through to a salesman named Jake. He puts me through the accessories routine. I decline, but eventually he offers me 2 "high-definition" Panasonic tapes ($30 each) and the overpriced $220 filter set for an additional $110. I know it is a ripoff, but I didn't want to get called back with the out-of-stock routine so I went along with it. He takes my CC info and shipping info and I am off the phone.
Step 4: I decide that I really didn't need the other stuff for $110, so I call back and ask for the overpriced $200 tripod instead (obviously for $110, to replace the other stuff). He agrees.
Step 5: I call back the next day for a tracking number and it isn't available, but they claim that it shipped. I waited about 4 minutes before I spoke to the customer service person.
Step 6: I call back after one more day (this time I got through instantly), and I get a tracking number. I plug the number in online and it says "Out for Delivery". I live on the east coast, and it showed up at my door about 20 minutes after I talked to BPhoto.

I ordered:
1. TRV900 - Grey Market (i think. they call it "international version")
2. Mack 3 year warranty
3. Crappy tripod, although it's good just for stable shot. Bad for panning.

I received:
1. TRV900 - USA version. Complete with all accessories and the SONY USA warranty.
2. Mack 2 year warranty (it makes up for it b/c I got the 1 year SONY warranty. That's probably what they would say if I called about it)
3. A tripod which was crappy, although not as bad as I expected.

Total Price including shipping: 1690, which is less than B&H before shipping and a warranty. Plus Macks are reasonably good warranties.
Final Evaluation: If you want to save some money, this really isn't a bad way to go. Someone else suggested taking up time to gain leverage with the salesman: THIS WORKS. Definitely do it at BPhoto, stay on for 20 minutes minimum or else you may get screwed. But if you want to spend 300-400 extra dollars to go with a reputable company like B&H I certainly encourage you to do so.
