"I ordered a Toshiba laptop from CDW on May 18. The site said it was in stock. Two days later the online order status says backordered. Five days after that I got an email saying it was backordered. In this time I called and asked when a new shipment was to arrive. I was informed a shipment of 100 was coming in soon, but they didn't know exactly when. This satisfied me temporarily. Today on the June 7 I get a call saying the laptop was in fact discontinued. Their solution was to let me have the next model up ($680 more) at an $80 discount. I would have appreciated better communication. I understand that faulty information from Toshiba may have been to blame, but I would expect a large company to have better communication with their suppliers and I should have been notified within a few days that the laptop was no longer made. This delay has severely limited my options in finding another supplier."

I have mixed feelings on this company. I was building a new computer and upgrading another and purchased two copies of Win XP Pro at the academic pricing. I thought I had provided all info required to get the academic price when I was informed that I needed to provide more proof that I was an academic user. No where on their web site could I find information about providing proof of being a student, and I looked several times for this before making my purchase.

On the up side, the customer service representative was very pleasant to clear this issue up, and only asked that I email a scanned image of my student ID. After this issue was cleared up, the rest of the purchasing process went quite smoothly."
