"Closeoutdigital is a company I plan on doing future business with. I ordered a camera lense from them and before it was shipped they made sure the lense was for the correct camera. The original lense offered was for a 35 mm camera but I wanted one for a digital camera. When the lense did arrive, it was the correct zoom but smaller diameter than I wanted. Closeoutdigital worked with me and exchanged the lense to the correct one I wanted. Their customer service was friendly and professional. Thank you for your help in getting the right lense. "

"I recently purchased a Canon 580EX-II Speedlite Flash from CloseoutDigital. Free Shipping was estimated at 12-15 days. Contacted Merchant several times to get a Shipping Tracking Number within this two week period with no luck. Finally contacted by merchant 13 days from purchase and informed I was dropped as a customer and all my records deleted due to a delay in shipping from the manufacturer. Checked the web site and the same model is still on sale stating 1-2 days to ship with a higher sale price. Also found in a separate pop-up window listed under specifications that the product was a gray market item and was not warranted by canon."

"I would NEVER recommend this company. I can understand minimal delays at times, as long as there is communication. But a month and a half and still no camera or lens or guarantee of when they would arrive, I had to turn them in to the fraud department of our credit card company from which it was paid from. First the lens was out of stock... only finding this out the day it was suppose to arrive and I was always the proactive for information. Not once did they contact me by phone or email. They kept promising me more stuff for my trouble... but nothing EVER arrived. This is not sour grapes, this is a warning to potential buyers. I had to cancel 2 jobs since I did not receive the camera. They also hid shipping charges of $99 in the purchase price. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!"

"I ordered a Nikon D600 in early July 2013, because CloseoutDigital had the lowest prices I had seen. I also paid for three day shipping. Five days later, and still no camera, I got a phone call while on a business trip. They informed me that I had purchased a “gray market” camera from them, which essentially was a Japanese market camera with a plastic body and no English firmware (note: Nowhere on their site does it explain this). The rep went on to tell me I could get the US model for a significant upcharge. Otherwise, I’d be subject to a restocking fee. I said okay, and I’d take the US model. Another two weeks go by and still nothing. I finally call on July 22nd and the guy says “Your camera is in Chicago, and is stalled in shipping because of a bad zip code.” I gave them the right zip code, and he said it would be on my doorstep no later than the 26th. This proved to be a blatant lie by their rep, since the product had never shipped in the entire three weeks since I paid for it. The 26th comes and goes, and on July 30th, I call again, and cannot get through to their customer support. I finally just went through their sales line because they will pick the phone up. I complain that it’s still not here. The guy says he’s now shipping it and even sends me a tracking number (which they would not provide me earlier). The good news is that it finally arrived on August 2nd, a full month after I purchased it. The camera appears to be the right one, and in good working order.

Long story short, this company is making their money not on selling an inventory of quality products. They make their money by a bait and switch method of getting consumers to love their “low” prices, only to inform them they “accidentally” selected the wrong item. Then, they purposefully drag their feet, provide misinformation, and make empty promises to hopeful consumers. All the while, they make money on restocking fees for cancelled or wrong orders, or pocket 3-day express shipping fees (almost $200) when they have no intention of getting the product there in time. I imagine the company consists of three frat-boy types who run the whole thing out of their apartment, and are good at smooth talking angry consumers. Don’t be like me, and assume the other comments in this board are the outliers. This is their business model. At a minimum, it will be incredibly frustrating. Worst case, it could cost you dearly.

The biggest harm is that they hurt their own industry of independent electronics resellers who sell online, who I must confess I will avoid from here on out. Those of you resellers out there who operate your online business with integrity, you should be all over these chumps and shut them down.

Update: Reseller saw this posting and offered to refund my three day shipping costs (close to $200) in exchange for removing my post. I declined.

"On July 29th I ordered a Canon T4i and 18-135 mm len from their website for the advertised price of $587 and received an email order confirmation immediately. Next day I got an email asking me to call to "verbally confirm my order". When I called I was told the camera was no longer available. When I asked him why the T4i was still on the webiste, he said the IT people only come in on Tuesdays and Thursdays (LOL!).The rep then attempted to hard sell an older model, the T3i with same lens, for $749!"

"First I have to say that I have never received a phone call from customer service making sure that I ordered the correct item, THIS BLEW ME AWAY! So I made a HUGE mistake and due to the people actually caring at CloseOutDigital.com, my $1600 mistake was taken care of with ease. I talked with a man named Ben who immediately understood my situation and worked with me until my issue was resolved. I have to say, I've dealt with a lot of customer service in my time and this company is "TOP NOTCH". I would like to personally thank Ben and the rest of the CloseOutDigital.com Team. "My experience with CloseoutDigital.com bordered on fraudulent. I placed an order (for over $700) on June 20, 2013. I received an email asking me to call and verify the order, so I did on the 21st. At this time I asked when I would receive a tracking number and was assured it would be sent to me that day. The following Tuesday (25th), I called again to ask for a tracking number, I was told that it had been packed and shipped,and a tracking number was on the way. When I had nothing by the 27th, I called again, and got the same response. Still having nothing on July 2nd, I called again, I was told my package would arrive on Friday the 5th and my tracking number would show up 48 hours prior to delivery. When I still had nothing on July 8th, I called back and was told it would be delivered by the 12th. I asked for a tracking number and was told I'd have it by the end of the day. When I still didn't have it on the 13th, I called and cancelled my order. I was threatened that I would have to pay a cancellation fee and a restocking fee. I asked how that oculd be possible when I have no proof that anything was EVER packed or shipped to me and still cancelled the order. I called back later to ask for an email confirmation of the cancellation and was told NO. I was told that I would get one whenever the package was returned and back on the shelf. I called my credit card company immediately and filed a dispute on the purchase. It should NEVER take 18 days to get someone a tracking number if you have actually shipped something. Customer service was terrible and I will NEVER purchase from them again.

In response to the reply by CloseoutDigital, I will reiterate, I NEVER received a tracking number, I still have not received an email acknowledging my cancelled order, and I have still not received any correspondence informing me of my refund.

"The information on the web page was not as clear for me as I guess that I needed. It may have been totally my fault. I didn't realize that the lens had two variations for both digital and non digital. Fortunately, the man who called me about my order knew there was a difference and changed my order for me.
