They confirmed on the phone the item was available so I canceled the cancellation just to get another cancellation of the new order. I saw some stories on Reddit with the same kind of issues over a year ago, so whoever is in charge of this seems to be an idiot or just don’t care! Whatever it is, I won’t ever again order from them. Maybe I’ll even switch to Sony now, though about that a while anyway…"
"I bought an RF 100-5ooL lens. Received an email saying the product in stock and shipping would be 3-7 days. After 6 days I contacted the store as I had not received any intimation on shipping, to be told that the product is on back-order. I mentioned that the email from the purchase says it's "In-stock" and the customer service rep's reply was that he was sorry. That's it."
"Was forced to pay for return shipping for a huge printer. This is the first time I've had to deal with a retailer that dumps such a huge shipping cost to a civilian consumer. We don't have business shipping accounts - so to expect a customer to pay upwards of 50% of the cost of the product is JUST RETURN SHIPPING, is absurd. Never buy from the estore - they WILL Screw you over. "
"I ordered ink through the Canon website. It showed in stock online, gladly took payment and stated shipping would take 3-7 business days. I remained patients as I am fully aware of shipping delays in our area. But after 11 business days of waiting and no shipping confirmation email provided I called Canon customer service. The woman shared the item was out of stock and there was a block on the order. I then requested to cancel my order since Canon didn't bother to let me know this information. I had to call and find out for myself!! Of course, now its in route and my order was not cancelled. To my surprise the payment was already posted back on the 20th when I originally purchased the cartridge's. Now I see a pending charge for the ink as of today. How??? I will never purchase from the Canon website again. Awful Experience!!"
"Ordered an adapter ring. Canon web site showed it was in stock, my e-mail confirmation says it is in stock, web site continues showing it is in stock, but order status shows "backorder". Pretty much all online resellers ship these small things for free, Canon is the only one who charges for shipping - and misleads the customers on stock availability along the way! I ordered through Canon to get it faster (at a higher price, counting in shipping cost), to only find that it is not in stock. The corporate culture of misleading and lying? Also, one has no online cancellation options. One has to call and spend 20 mins on hold to cancel. I would rather order through a merchant with transparent stock status."
"It's been over 3 weeks since I ordered my ink, and it still has not shipped. When I call I am on hold for over 30 minutes, and can't continue to hold. On top of that, they asked me to fill out a survey, and when I rated them badly, they rejected the review. "
"I ordered a cartridge on 2/19. It said 3-7 business days for delivery... so... it`s March first, no cartridge, no info about estimated delivery date. The most perfect thing that the package NEVER reached USPS! They give you a tracking number but firstly it moves within their network. So at 2/24 it was in their facility and then nothing. Customer service (40 mins of waiting on hold) can`t help and can`t give me a refund as it didn`t reach me. They do not know when it will be delivered. Ever.
Advice: SEARCH for a local online or offline store. DO NOT buy from their online shop. Their customer service is worst, and they just do not take any responsibility. "

"I had the same experience of many reviewers here. The Canon website said the RF lens I wanted was in stock, so I ordered it and received an email saying it was in stock and will ship soon. But then nothing happened. I tried to call customer service, but it was IMPOSSIBLE to get someone on the phone. Even if I waited an hour, there would be no representative to talk to. And there's no email address. And the chat is disabled. So essentially there is ZERO customer service. Eventually, after waiting 10 days and hearing nothing, I called Canon professional services, which has nothing to do with sales, but they helped me and found out that the item I want is on… You guessed it – back order! Just as people here have explained, canon does this thing where they post something as in stock to boost their sales but it is really not available and could not be available for a long time. Yet they charged my credit card immediately! I have spent over $10,000 on Canon products and am a very loyal customer. I just can't believe that the company to which I have given more money than any other would treat me this way. Now I want to cancel that order because I don't want to wait for months and also because I don't want to do business with a company that has zero customer service and also tricked me into making an order. But I don't know how to cancel it since it is impossible to get through to customer support. So I might just have to dispute the charge with my visa company. What a waste of time and energy!"
"The Canon Online Store is showing products In Stock to attract customers and get them to put orders. As soon as your order is completed, you will receive a notification that the product is backordered.
I contacted Canon 6 days apart to explain the issue. Twice, they told me that they knew the issue and they were working on it. We are in 2020 and not being able to properly reflect your stock and/or correct it after few days is not incompetence, this is fraud. This allows Canon to get orders from customers and report good sale numbers even if they clearly know that they cannot ship the product.
A lot of other Canon customers reported the same issue.
This issue is currently valid with the refurbished Canon RF 28-70mm

"I've placed 7 different orders in the past few weeks. All say in stock all the way though the credit card process. I even get an email receipt where items still say in stock. Then a week or two will pass and I'll call in and each item is back ordered. I even called minutes after placing an in stock order and again I'm told it's backordered. Bait and switch with this website. All the reps claim it's a glitch in the system and the website doesn't show real time inventory. So a billion dollar company doesn't have up to date inventory but a local mom and pop shop does. Okay Canon. The best part is you have to call in to cancel your order since they run their website like its' the 1980s. Be prepared for a 40 minute wait to cancel an in stock item that is mysteriously backordered as soon as you hit the submit payment button!"
"VERY disappointed with my experience attempting to purchase directly from Canon USA for the first (and LAST) time! Ordered the R5 on Friday after seeing it was in stock. My credit card declined the initial charge due to the amount, but I immediately approved it & re-submitted order as directed, it went through & I received email confirmation the order was processing. The charge showed right away as a pending transaction on my credit card. Monday afternoon, I called customer support because it hadn't shipped yet, & after being on hold for ~35 minutes I was told it was awaiting payment authorization, and had been sent to their order fulfillment team for processing. I then called my bank & they verified the charge was pending and already approved with no holds on the account. Called Canon back (another 45 min wait) & was told everything was good-it showed the order processing and my camera should ship in 1-2 days. The next day I get a call saying they've canceled my order because they were unable to process payment, & asked if I wanted to place another order, though it's now out of stock w/ no estimated availability date! Unbelievable. They told me they didn't have the ability to run the card again if it's declined the first time (which makes no sense because they had already placed the charge hold on my account and it was NOT declined). I told the rep absolutely not, that I will not be placing any more orders with Canon from now on.
Also, in one phone call I had asked for help resetting my password because I somehow got locked out of my account and the password reset link wouldn't work, and they told me I would be contacted by the admin dept about resetting my password. Still waiting to hear from them, but it doesn't really matter now because I have no plans to have any further dealings with Canon directly, and will only order from B&H, Adorama, etc from now on."

"My experience, I mean nightmare began innocently enough...I simply ordered a printer, and the amount was debited from my Visa. I never heard a word about my order again, no confirmation email, no product, no nothing! I emailed custimer support about my issue, no response. I wasted 2 hours of my time today calling called customer service, spoke to countless different people, one told me she would look into my situation, she never called me back, the 2nd guy said he couldn't help me because his screen was not working, the 3rd person denied my Visa was debited even though I had my bill in front if me, the 4th person told me I couldn't speak to a supervisor because he wasn't in, and on and on and on and on with never ending excuses and NO resolution. In the mean time, I am out $$$ and the bottom line is this...THEY DONT CARE!!!!! "
