"So VERY disappointed. I should have remembered that the last time I tried to order with them I had an issue. This one is worse. I placed my order in December 2011 and I'm STILL waiting!! The good news for me is that they have not billed me for anything (yet). I have been doing business with Century Photo for more than 25 years and I can't believe what is going on now. I have always been more than satisified with their service and their products. This is such a shame."
"THIS COMPANY SUCKS! Like the other reviews, I put my order in June 2010. I only received 1/4 of my order. I was told a time or two that the additional items were back ordered. I finally got ahold of someone last September (2011) and was told I would receive a refund in 4 to 6 weeks. Well, it is now January of 2012..... no refund yet! I tried the 800 number and guess what... DISCONNECTED. What a bunch of BS I hope they get taken to court. "
"I also made a purchase in November of 2010 and haven't received any of my merchandise. Every time I called they would say 6 more weeks. Eventually they stopped taking phone calls...you could call and get a voice message or you could send an email. They don't respond to emails. I just tried again to call and their phone number isn't even in service anymore. I didn't think twice about ordering from them...when my kids were little I ordered from them regularly. Each child had a personalized photo album set. When one got filled we ordered another. Last year I wanted to start the tradition with my first grand child. Guess that won't be happening. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS COMPANY. THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND THEN IGNORE YOU. (PS: I only gave them one star because you have to. They deserve no stars.)"
"I wish I would have double checked here. I have ordered from Century Photos a handful of times, and my mom has been ordering from them for as long as remember. But something is up with this company and i have a feeling they are in the process of going under, or someone has taken over the company to see how many people will provide them their credit cards before they get caught. I placed an order in 2010 and it being delayed several times I finally cancelled my order.. I decided to try again in 5/2011 assuming that any supply issues would be resolved. Nope, last contact I have from them is in July where they confirm the item is on back order. Their customer service drops you to a voice mail, at least before I would get a live person to speak to. And worst part is they charge the credit card right away. STAY AWAY... This company must in the process of closing its doors, but is doing so in a very slimy way to steal money on their way out."
"I placed an order Sep 30, 2010 for $132.75. The full amount was charged immediately to my credit card, but I only received a $5 item from the order. I called to inquire about the remaining products and was told they were on back-order due to lack of vendor with appropriate materials and it would be about a month. I accepted this wait and called again only to be told the same story. Finally I asked for a refund and as of Aug 26, 2011, I still have not received it. I was told my credit card could not be refunded then the check would be mailed within a few weeks. I have made 29 phone calls attempting to get resolution from Taylor Clark as Customer Service Supervisor, Sheila Williams as Call Center Supervisor, and Stephen Johnson as Assistant to President. I was refused connection to Gabe Bristol as President, as well as, Accounting Department. I understand FTC’s mail order rule allows 30-day shipment of product and if not available then credit issued to bank card within one billing cycle. Century Photo has far exceeded these time limits in violating the rule. If the product I ordered is available, I would like to receive it; however, if it is not available then I expect an immediate refund. My family and I have used the company since the 1980's with great satisfaction until this occurrence. It is a shame."
"I am writing this review to save others the trouble I have had. Hopefully this review will reach many. I placed an order from Century Photo June 20th from their website. The order went through nicely. All seemed to be fine. About 3 weeks later, when I called to see where my order was, I was told that it was back ordered and to wait 3 weeks more. I felt like that was something I could do, so I did. It has now been 7 weeks since I placed my order. I called to check on it again only to find that it is still on back order. I was told to wait 3 weeks more. I think that is ridiculous. I asked the person I was talking to, to just cancel my order. She said they would be happy to do that and would be issuing me a refund check. So, yes, they did bill me even though they hadn't shipped anything. Oh, and the clincher? I get to wait 3-7 weeks for my refund check. Thanks Century. You just lost a customer."
"This company should be shut down. I had good experience with the company for many years. Then Oct. 2010, I placed an order for $128, and later received about $2.50 in merchandise. My experience is the same as these others. They charged my credit card account in full immediately. After many calls, a letter, complaint to the BBB, etc. I still have no products or refund. This cheating company even had the audacity to send out catalogs this past spring! I want my money back and then have this company put out of business. I wish your rating system gave a chance to register NEGATIVE ratings. They do not deserve even a "1.""
"I too wish I had read customer reviews before ordering, but since I have been a customer of Century for nearly twenty years, and had always been very pleased with their service, it did not occur to me. I had not ordered from them in a few years, and placed an order for over $100- on April 20. My card was charged a couple of days later. On May 12, I called to find out where my order was. After nearly an hour of waiting, being cut off, and waiting some more, I spoke to a representative who was singularly the rudest phone rep. I have encountered. (By the way, their "automated call back system" does not work, so don't waste your time.) I was told the albums are back-ordered and would arrive in 4-8 weeks. Subsequent phone calls yielded unfulfilled promises of emails and return phone calls. Supervisors are not available, and their voice mail boxes are full, so a message can not be left. Today, (June 14), I called again and was told the albums would be ready for shipment in four to six weeks. THEN, I looked for customer reviews. After reading the reviews, I called Century back and canceled the order. I was told that I would get a refund check in the mail in about three weeks. (No, they don't put the money back on the credit card they charged.) I am keeping my fingers crossed. I am disappointed that a company that once was so good is now the worst I have encountered. I wonder if ANYONE has received an order placed with Century Photo."
"HORRIBLE! Do not order from Century Photo. I placed an Order September 2010, card was charged immediately. In January 2011 I still had not received my product I cancelled my order. I still have not received a refund April 2011. I was told my card would be refunded in 7-14 business days 21 business days ago. Do NOT order from Century Photo."
"I am also sorry I did not check this co. before I placed my order. The pattern of my order matches perfectly with what all the reviewers said before me: my card was charged next day and three months later I still wait to be refunded after canceling my order, following three telephone attempts (40+ min each!) to resolve my problem. I filed complain with BBB recently and am waiting what's going to happen. May be all of you could try this course so that Century Photo takes a note. What else are we to do?! I have not called my credit card co. yet. "
"POOR, POOR, POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE!!! Wish I would have found these reviews BEFORE I placed my order! I also placed an order June 2010, and my credit card was charged immediately for the product. After months of hearing that the "raw materials are out of stock" I decided to cancel my order in November. I have yet to have my card credited back fot the original charge. The reason I've been given is that the company that handles the credits relocated to Florida & their computer systems are not compatible & they are "working" on a fix. Attempts to speak with anyone that will actually do something have been futile. I just waited on hold for 58 minutes for a supervisor & was disconnected before speaking with him. Absolutely unacceptable."
"A similar story to other reviewers...
My Nov. 30,2010 order charged immediately to my credit card, but nothing delivered. Called and was told that items are on backorder and would not be received for a 45 days. I called after 45 days and was told the items were further delayed for a month or more.I cancelled the order and was promised a refund on my credit card. No credit as been issued as of today (4/6/11). Multiple calls to them produced a response that (a) customer service being relocated to Florida and refunds should now be forthcoming, or (b) we don't know what's going on but we'll check into it and get back to you." Of course, they never get back to me."
"I placed an order in May 2010. It's November. Still waiting. They said they'd run out of material for archival photo pages and were looking for a new vendor. However, the FTC requires a seller to ship within 30 days or notify the purchaser and provide the option to wait or receive a refund. In violation of this requirement, Century Photo did neither. I called back monthly and was told each time "4 - 6 weeks." Each time, I asked why they still hadn't updated their website to inform purchasers of the backorders, and for six months was told "we're looking at updating the website." So they have accepted hundreds or thousands of orders without informing people they had no product! A week ago, I called to cancel and get a refund. And guess what . . . I'm still waiting on the refund."
