"This retailer turned out to rather shady, and I definitely would not order from them again. We placed our order on a Thursday night, with 2-day air service because our previous camera had broken and we were in a hurry. We expected we'd receive our camera early the next week. Late Friday afternoon, however, I received a call from a salesman; he claimed that he was calling because we hadn't provided our shipping information, and he needed to confirm our shipping address. I gave it to him, and the then proceeded to hard-sell accessories and a warranty, which he said had to be ordered at the same time as the camera. I turned down the accessories but accepted the warranty because he said it covered accidental damage, and for that it seemed worth the price at $39.99. I questioned the salesperson closely; he insisted it covered just about anything short of deliberate damage, and specifically assured me that it covered any damage due to the camera being accidentally dropped.
After I hung up, however, I went to check my confirmation email, and sure enough, our shipping address was right there. Strike 1: they had lied in order to establish a pretext for calling. Then I looked up the warranty: strike 2, it didn't cover accidental damage after all. They had lied to make it sound more appealing. Strike 3, it clearly said you could buy the warranty any time within the first 30 days of camera purchase: they had lied about the urgency in order to get me to make an insufficiently-informed decision.
I tried calling back, but they were closed. I left an email message, which their website claimed would be answered within 24 hours; it was never answered. Strike 4. I called again Saturday, but they're closed on Saturdays. I researched them further online and found that they have a history of not actually sending the merchandise unless they manage to sell extras in their hard-sell call, and I began to wonder what I had gotten myself into. I finally got a customer service rep on the phone on Monday afternoon and explained why I no longer wanted the warranty. That rep insisted that the warranty really *did* cover accidental damage 'in practice' even though the warranty specifically excluded it, and that's why they had told me that it covered accidental damage. I had read enough about the warranty online at that point to know that that's not the case, however -- in fact, the warranty backers seem to have quite a problem with claiming ALL damage is due to accidental damage and not covering it, keeping the camera for several weeks or even months, returning it in worse condition than it was sent in, etc -- so I admantly insisted on a refund of the warranty. I was told that it couldn't be changed at that point -- although as I discovered later, the order still hadn't shipped -- and I'd just have to return the warranty after it arrived, and they'd refund the money to my credit card.
The camera didn't actually arrive until over a week after I had ordered it, which made me rather resent the $20 I had paid for 2nd-day air. Strike 5: they *could* have shipped it on Friday, but it turned out that they held up the process so they could do their hard-sell phone call, and they're closed on the weekends -- so they held my order for 5 days before ever shipping.
I sent the warranty back by certified mail because I was concerned that they might not be ethical enough to admit receiving it, which cost me an extra $5 and a fair bit of hassle, but was worth it for the peace of mind. They did refund what I paid sometime in the past couple of weeks, so that part turned out ok. I also have no problems with the camera itself. Given the rest of my experience with this company, however, I don't trust them in the least and certainly wouldn't do business with them again. "
"They are crooks. If you order anything from them, you will be asked to confirm the order by calling them. The salesperson will try to make you buy unnecessary accessories. If you refuse to buy them, you will be told that your product on back order and you have to wait. Eventually, you will have to cancel your order and buy the product somewhere else.
I had horrible experience dealing with these crooks when I tried to order camcorder Sony DCR-DVD403.
Do not buy anything from these crooks."
"I ordered Sony DCR-DVD403 camera. 3 days later I got a call from a salesman that wanted me to buy overpriced accessories. I told him no and was then told the camera would ship in 1 week (web site says 1 to 2 days). 2 weeks later I called them and was told it was on back order from Sony (web site still says 1 to 2 days, but price went up). I immediately canceled order. We will have to see if they charge my credit card or not. "
"Update: I make no claims other than my own experience. In my opinion, these guys exist in a shady area between retail and hustlers. Shop at your own risk. PLEASE do your own research, read reviews from a variety of sources and make up your own mind. I order quite a few things from online retailers, and this was by far the worst I've ever dealt with. Maybe I don't venture into the dark side of retailing enough...
My own experience is that they do not answer email, and did not ship a camera I had ordered and paid for expedited shipping. They did call, and leave a voice mail telling me to call about the camera I ordered, and sent one email telling me to call them. All under the guise of "confirming" the order. Ask yourself why none of the major retailers does this. Oh, could it be because they already have all legal details needed from the information provided from the online order? Also ask why the phone number provided (you can put in any number you want) when you ordered is more legitimate than the credit card information which has to be verified through a variety of means. During 30+ years of credit card transactions, I've been called exactly once to verify a purchase - and that was from the bank which had issued the card.
Final point: This retailer is sensitive to pricegrabber.com ratings. I once again leave it to you to figure out why. Go there, sort the ratings by rank, and you will find a 100% denial of any wrong doing from clickfordigital (by the way, they do business under other names. Do the research...)It seems that every negative rating was motivated by deceit, lies, and some mysterious motivation to damage this... company, according to their responses to negative ratings. My experience there was no different. They answered the description of my experience with a claim that they had sent me email after email trying to rectify the situation. In reality, they ANSWERED exactly one, and that happened after the negative pricegrabber review. In that email, they offered to overnight the camera to me. Do some more research. A curious amount of positive reviews were posted after the retailer offered to make things right if a negative review was amended to be a positive one. Something I disagree with on the pricegrabber site is that one's comments are very limited; if you choose to amend a rating, the old one is overwritten due to lack of space. Does not seem very useful to me.
Make your own decisions, and beware the low price!! I paid $30 more to order from another vendor. No phone calls, and it was here in 3 business days with confirming emails and shipping tracking numbers. Priceless.
Un-be-lieve-a-ble. Stupid. Greedy. All these would apply to me. I broke my own rules and in a fit of cheapness bought from these... predators of unwary buyers. I deserve what I'm going through. First off, I've read some posts in these forums where people consider it normal that a online company calls to confirm an order before shipping. This is an unethical practice designed to part you from more of your money. All they are trying to do is sell you the "extras" you already passed up online. These people know very well it's harder to say no to a pursuasive salesman. I was stunned to see no confirmation email for my order after 24 hours. A quick check of these forums revealed they do this to everyone. I had paid extra to get it here by xmas. But they don't ship, or email, until someone calls them back. I'm used to email confirmations within minutes, if not seconds. I found they did leave a voice message... which my wife listened to... the one who was supposed to get the camera as a surprise. That's really besides the point, but illustrates one reason this is not standard practice. I've canceled the order. USE YOUR COMMON SENSE. IF IT SEEMS TOO CHEAP TO BE TRUE, THERE MUST BE A REASON. Do some research and enjoy business with the many reputable companies out there."
"I ordered a DSC-F828 for about 740 before shipping. They tried to sell me a few things but were not pushy. When I refused Mark responded that my item would not ship until late the following week then would not arrive until late the week after that. So almost three weeks after purchase I would recieve the camera. I asked for any type of shipping upgrades and he said none were available because they would be closed in the following days ie the middle of the week, and weedays in the following week. It takes one to two days to ship it and it was in stock. I say bull. Another company from a long list that just tried to snag me into wasting money on astronomically overpriced accessories who give a cold shoulder to those just wanting the camera."
"I ordered a sony camcorder DCR-TRV950 form their website for $1369 + $30 shipping on 3/3/04 and got an email receipt. On 3/8/04 I called to get an updated status and was told by Frank that it would be 2-3 more days. On 3/12/04 I called and was told by Mike that the item was back ordered and that It was selling everywhere else for more. It would be 5-7 more days at least. So I cancelled my order."
"Be very, very careful with these folks! After my order, I received the standard call to confirm from "Mark S". There was a bit of pressure to buy other stuff, which I turned down. After that, the camera that was listed as in stock at time of placement of order was not in stock per Mark, but would now be shipped on Friday, January 16th. I checked their website and saw that they had raised the price by nearly $100. I had made it in under the wire at the cheaper price, but would never see the product from them. Strike 1.
Jan 15th, 2 days later, I receive this email from Mark, "We regret to inform you that the product you ordered is currently oversold. We will be able to fill your order in approximately 2-3 weeks. If you do not wish to wait we understand and can cancel your order. Please reply to this e-mail whether you would like to wait or cancel your order. We appoligize for any inconvience this may have caused." Strike 2.
In the interim, I found the same camera elsewhere for less money, ordered it, and had received it. I could now play the waiting game with them to see how long it would really take.
On Jan 22, 9 days after ordering, I received this email, "Please be advised that your order is still on hold and should hopefully be in in 2 weeks. If you would like continue to wait or cancel please respond via email."
Every day I would check their website, and every day the camera would say "Available". And it was always at a much higher price than my order amount. Strike 3.
On Jan 26th, I asked how it can be that every day their website says "Available", yet they email that it is not in stock. Their response, "We currently are taking orders for the camera and the price was raised because of it we should have it within 2 weeks." Not really an answer, plus now another two weeks. Strike 4.
My opinion of what they were doing is that they were waiting for their purchase price to drop back down to below my order price, and until that happened, it would not be "in stock"."
"I decided on a fuji 3800 and searched for a good seller, had good reviews and recommended through a dealtime search. Click for digital provided me with a good price, ease of ordering, a cursary check if acc. were needed without a hard sell, and super quick shipping (recieved camera in two days ). They were a pleasure to deal with and i'm very happy with my purchasing experience, thank you CLICK FOR DIGITAL. Will do business with them again."
"Bought a Refurb C2100 Camera and was found to be defective on inspection and on taking preliminary pictures.
When contacted the Seller for an exchnage, was told that the camera was out of stock though their web site showed it to be on stock and that I would have to wait atleast another 10 days before they can ship another one.
The Seller knew that brand of camera was selling hot at that time and did not want to take back the product for loosing out the current demand for that product.
Was also charged an exhorbitant price for extended warranty, high pressure selling.
And 2nd day shipping (30 $$) arrived after close to 7 business days.
