"Oh man, where to begin with these clowns...I was looking for a Garmin nuvi 255W package (case, 512 MB memory card) and like many others was attracted by the initially low price (unfortunately didn't know about this site yet). I place the order and get that call and confirm spiel. The salesman on the other end tried to get me to add a 1 gig memory card for $69!! He claimed without the card it would only hold "half the maps of the US". I called him out on that and told him it made no sense to sell a package with a memory card that would not hold even the basic North America navigator. He kept trying to get me to commit to the card, offering "bargains" of 50, 40 and finally 20 dollars. He was extremely rude and even said he was "trying to help me," and that I could "take it or leave it." I told him that he shouldn't talk to customers like that. I eventually got the product, but I will be staying far away from them and their entire shady network of websites. I urge anyone reading this to do the same and to tell everyone they know about these con artists. "

"This place is the usual scam. My story is the same as all the rest, bought a Garmin Nuvi 770 for $209, far cheaper then anyplace else. The web site said they were in stock. A few hours after placing the order, they called. When they told me they were calling about my order, my reaction was "Oh no, I have a feeling this is a scam." Clearly, the guy at the other end was use to this reaction. He said I would get my item in 3 weeks - which means it will never ship. I went onto the website and my order was listed as backordered. It was easy to cancel. My guess is, they don't want to waste their time and they are tired of disputed credit card charges, so if you are not easy to bait and switch, they just don't want to sell to you and they don't want the headache of fighting with you.

For those who don't know the drill, they have no intention of selling the products they advertise at the price they quote. If they can't upsell you, they won't sell you the merchandise, but they won't tell you that, they will just give you a 3-6 week delivery time. The item will never ship. No point in getting mad, just find someone reputable.

"Yep, me too. I should have checked this site first about these guys. Ordered a camera and 3 days later I received my "request for confirmation". Called the company and was told the camera was not the US model (but I could buy one for $299, a price higher than most legitimate web sites). I told him no thanks and then he wanted to sell me a $149 battery because "the one that comes with the camera only lasts for 20 minutes", and a charger since one doesn't come with the camera (I didn't tell him I know that the battery is charged while attached to the camera). I said no thanks to those also. About 10 minutes later I checked the website and saw that the camera was now "backordered". I cancelled the order on the website and then sent a confirmatory email requesting cancellation of the order. My credit card has not been charged yet, but I will check it a few times a day until I am certain that I have heard the last from these guys. Don't make the same mistake; buy only from reputable vendors!"

"Yep, I fell for their low prices too. I ordered a Garmin Zumo 450 for $319 which was the lowest price I'd ever seen. Several days later I got a phone call asking me to confirm the order and telling me I had to buy memory to make it work, etc. I declined all upgrades. The next day I get the now infamous '2-3 week backorder' E-mail. It's been 4 weeks and they refuse to respond to my numerous E-mail messages and phone calls.

On the plus side they haven't tried to charge my credit card but, just in case, I have warned the card issuing company not to accept any charges from them.

So, lesson learned.

"Almost a month ago (tomrrow being a month) I placed an order on CloseOutGenius.com for a new Panasonic digital camera (which cost around $280 with shipping). This company tells you that you need to call them after your order has been placed so that they can ship the item to you. In the process of calling the 800 number it was busy for nearly a week straight and then I had finally got through. Once the representative gets on the phone he tries to talk you into purchasing additional items (ex. SD memory card, battery upgrade, case, etc) so I caved and spent an extra $120 for a better battery (a free case was included).

My camera has yet to arrive, so I placed a call to the company once again today. The representative (I believe the same person) told me that my camera had been lost in the shipping process and the camera has been discontinued, and that for an extra $50 he could send me a better one. So first off he could have had the decency to notify me about the camera issue and now he wants me to pay more money for a “better” version of the camera. I refused to pay his $50 so then he offered me $30 and finally I was just like “can I just get my money back” and then he said “hold on; let me talk to my supervisor”. Also he had the nerve to ask me that “you must be a hard working woman, what do you do for a living? Real Estate, Car Dealer…?” ok…that’s taking things a bit too personally for my taste. After his 1 minute of hold time as he claimed to talk to his Supervisor he told me he’ll ship out the camera free (okay so we went from $50 to $30 to Free…hmm).

So he now claims I’ll get a tracking number sent to my e-mail tomorrow and if not…I’m going to call him again. I’m supposed to get this camera within 5 days (better be in my hands by next Wednesday) according to the representative. I bet once this camera does arrive, if at all…it’ll probably be a piece of junk and I’ll have to send it back or something, only to get the run around again. Worst case scenario…I call my bank and tell them they stole my money (they’re good about online ordeals). Maybe I should have told the representative that I’m a cop or FBI (not really of course, lol) and I don’t make a living by being an online thief. Why did he act like it was so hard to give me back my money anyway? It’s pretty bad that I had to repeat my zip code 3 times to him…idiot.

The next day I didn't receive an e-mail with a tracking number. Online Buyers Beware! I will never do business with them again or probably any online company that doesn't atleast use PayPal.

"Absolute SCAMMERS. I helped my dad place an order for a GPS and just like others report, they requested a call to verify security info. My dad, 75, called and was sold a $150 SD card that I could get him for $15 at Walmart. My dad was mad and confused and when I called to cancel the card, "John Davidson at extension 202" said it was already shipped and could not cancel it with out 20% restock and cancelation fees. I told him I would just call my credit card and cancel and he said we were recorded on the order and they would still get the $! Just mast my blood boil to think about how these guys treat people. They should be jailed. STEER CLEAR of this company and report them to everyone you can."

"This company needs to be STOPPED!! I ordered the Garmin Nuvi 770 and got an e-mail and a phone call to confirm my order for "security" purposes. I got the same upsale pressure that everyone has talked about. I bought the stuff thinking I could return the things I didn't want. I got my items, but no invoice - also I was missing an antenna. I started e-mailing them to get an invoice and calling only to get no response and the same inability to get through. Finally, when I got through I said since I didn't get an invoice, I felt that voided their policy - plus they had never replied to my e-mails and I couldn't get through on the phone. Very rude guy said I was the first person to fail to get an invoice implied I was lying and then said they'd never gotten my e-mails. I also said their company was all over the Internet for their fraudulent actions. When I told him I would report him to the State’s Attorney General, he said who did I think they would believe - the company or me. I told him they'd believe me because I'm a teacher with 35 years of experience and his company is all over the Internet as being bait and switch. So please all of you - flood the New York State's Attorney General Office with complaints about these guys. Just Google New York States Attorney General or the IP is http://www.oag.stateny.us and the complaint form is online. It takes about 5 minutes to fill out and one stamp to send. The two addresses for the company are 102 Avenue O Brooklyn, NY 11204 and 1405 Vegas Valley Drive Las Vegas, NV 89102

I hate to tell you how much I got ripped off for- but my total was $949. I found the same things that I had purchased for $572.99 on their web site. That means I overpaid by $379. I said that should be my refund. I was offered $39.99 for the antenna I was never sent. By the way – the invoice got e-mailed without a single price for the specific items I ordered. I was told because this was sold as a bundle.

"1.) Bought a Panasonic Lumix LX3K from their website for $245. The online specs indicated that the product would have a battery and charger.

2.) Called to ensure receipt of my order. Was told that the product would not include a battery and charger. I said I was interested in getting it. And was then told that the camera plus battery and charger would cost $510.

3.) I said I just wished to cancel my entire order. At $510 I was better off buying from another merchant. They said that they had a 20% cancellation fee on the entire $510 -- and not just the $245 I had originally paid, because I said I would buy the product.

Their sales representative was extremely rude and kept bullying me to buy the entire bundle from them.

I CAN'T BELIEVE THEY ARE CHARGING me $100 TO CANCEL AN ORDER I NEVER CONFIRMED!!! They are extremely fraudulent and should be put out of business.

"All of these lowprice stores are a scam. I tried ordering from 3 different ones and got the same runaround. Also, the invoice numbers all all similar, ending with the -W. Could they all be the same company? We need to get them off the web. Lets find out where they live. probably india."

"Ridiculously bad!
I would never recommend anyone to buy anything from them!
Very rude assistance on the phone, if you ever get through their 1-888 number. I have tried to call them about 27 times within 2 business days and their normal business hours, and managed to talk to some really rude assistant who nearly hang up on me because i did not want to buy any additional batteries or whatever else he was annoyingly trying to "feed" me with... I had to cancel my order after wasting some time because they turned out not to have the product I ordered.. They also do not really respond to your emails, unless you start "harassing" them by bombing with your emails. REALLY BAD!!!

"Ordered a Garmin GPS. Received email and phone message and called their customer service. They asked if I wanted the 2005 maps or the 2009 maps. I was then told after I received the Nuvi 760, I had to go to a website and pay $79 to download the maps. They were selling me a GPS WITH NO MAPS! Unbelievable. Totally in line with previous reviews. Not sure how fraudsters like this stay in business. Definitely go somewhere else. "

They are rude, crude and totally disrespectful. A business run by a bunch of unscrupulous individuals.
They stop at nothing to jam useless and extremely overpriced crap down your throat. If your stupid enough to call them after reading all the reviews then be my guest.

"All I have to add is more of the same. Placed my order for a Sony HandyCam at a great price. Got the confirmation number the next day but had to call to confirm. The extremely rude customer service rep tried to sell me a camera battery but when I told him I didn't need one, he asked how I could possibly use the camera if I didn't have a battery. I then had to explain that I already had one to which he confronted me and asked how I knew I had the right one and what kind it was. I hate being treated like a stupid woman. After he mumbled good-bye, I received an email less than an hour later saying it was now on back-order 2-3 weeks. I waited patiently. After a month, I sent an email with no response. I sent a second with no response and today I tried calling. What a nightmare! After getting passed around 3 different times and waiting on hold for 1/2 hour, I was hung up on. I called my credit card company and thank goodness, they told me there had been no charges on the account. I still am going to change my card number to be on the safe side. I usually am so careful about online purchases and wish I had read these reviews first."

"BUYER BEWARE!!! I ordered the Nikon D300 for 619.00 from CloseOut Genius. On an email requiring confirmation, when I called I got it out of them that it was a plastic body and if I wanted the magnesium body it would be 400.00 more. Close Out Genius advertised that this was a Nikon Product and said they were an authorized Nikon distributor which is a total lie.

I won't tell you how I got the supervisor,Jason Michaelson, ext. 212, on the phone as I used their tactics but it took me all day. He told me that there is Nikon USA and Nikon International that make two different Nikon D300 cameras and I could get the USA Nikon D300 for 1400.00, claiming it to be their cost. It went up another 400 from last offer.

I called the real Nikon company a couple of times and they informed me that there are not two Nikon D300 cameras made, even their international plants make the same one. I ordered this camera so it would take my autofocus lenses but the plastic 619.00 camera CloseOut Genius sells does not do that. They were rude, tried to sell me other cameras.

CloseOut Genius sells black market product and they are not only illegal for copyright and trademark infringement, it is false and misleading advertising. Nothing threatens them, CloseOut Genius say they have ways to get around any attorney; and although it said the camera is available on their site and advertised it as a Nikon which it is definately not, the excuse was well it is not available now. That is one way. This company needs to come down. In fact, they run under about ten different names. Close Out Genius or SL Genious, we need to all ban together and bring a class action suit against them before they take advantage of many more people. This is Bait and Switch for sure. Read this Bait and Switch fraudulent ad by SL or CloseOut Genious.

Rip Off Close Out Genius has many names. To name a few of these rip off Bait and Switch internet scam companies: SL Genius, Camcorder Genius, Navi Genius, Projector Genius, Plasma Genius, Receiver Genius, PC Genius, Cellular Genius .... BEWARE BEWARE!!!!
