"I bought a Gainward TI4 4200 witch according to compusa web site was to have video in and out connections. When I opened the box I found that it only had a CRT connection. When I showed the manager their descrition from their own website he look totally confused. I asked fro the card they had advertised, but they told me the card I wanted they don't have. I ahd printed out the description from their website, and I am glad I did because on the following days checking the website they had removed that item. I feel this is a true case of "bate and switch"."
"Big reteller store, however, seems to have cons more than pros., they cancled my order even after it said shipped on the website. Whatever, since the items was shipped I considered it as mine, it just like you bought something from the local store and then some manager run to you and take the stuffs back and tell you "this is the price mistake, I will take it back".
Rebate from them is untrustable, today I have to called them for the status since it never show up on the tracking page. They promise to give my money back. It will be just the first and the last time I do some rebate thing with compusa. "
"Had to write about blatant mis-information given to me by a worker at COmpUSA. I went in to buy an epson printer in May of 2002 after seeing a good deal on their website. The printer area was a disaster... paper on the floor, half the printers out of ink or clogged so bad you couldn't get a test print. Anyways, I find my printer and go to pay for it. The guy behind the counter goes into his speach about the extended warranty. Now, on certain products I DO get the warranty, so I listen to his speal. As his capper, he says, and I quote: "and you're totally covered if it breaks. Even if you were to knock it off the table and smash it" Now this grabs my attention, as no extended warranty I've ever had covers accidental or intentional breakage. I ask him point blank," so, you're telling me if I pick up the printer and drop kick it out the door, it's still covered?" He says oh yes, any breakage whatsoever is covered. I told him I was interested, and asked him if he had a copy of the warranty. He gives me a pamphlet as he continues to ring up my items. I flip to the back, and ask him again if breakage is covered. He assures me it is, that the warranty is a great deal, and can he ring one up for me. At this point I QUOTE TO HIM FROM THE WARRANTY BOOK, where it states, in bold print, that damage from misuse or DROPPING is specifically excluded from the warranty and not covered. To which he replies, "Oh...well they still cover it. I've seen them do it. You're covered." At this point I asked the guy at the next checkout counter if dropping the printer would be covered under the extended warranty. He also says yes, it's covered. I read the exclusion to them again, and the first guy gets snotty, saying he heard me the first time. I had him call his manager, who was maybe a year older than this kid. He did apologize, and said he would talk to them about it. Well... I went back about a week ago to buy some PC Speakers. Lo an behold, I get the same kid at checkout... and guess what happens? HE GIVES ME THE EXACT SAME STORY ABOUT BREAKAGE!! At this point it's not a mistake, an oversight, or a mis-understanding, It's outright fraud. I asked the same questions as before... is it covered then if I smash it on the ground.. he says yes. I looked him in the eye and said" You don't remember me do you?" he looks at me for a minute, then says "oh" ... that's it, just "Oh". I gave up at that point... I'll do my business someplace else. "This is the second time I have ordered from CompUSA auctions and my first experience has extremly good. I did have some problems with the first computer and had a terrible experience with HP. After explaining the situation to CompUSA, They responded in a very professional manner and corrected my problems completely to my satisfaction.
My contacts were with Wanda, and she handled all the transactions professionally.
I am having some problems with this present computer but, I do feel comfortable that they will be taken care of, as in the recent past.
It should be said that the problems with the computers were not the fault of CompUSA auctions.
Best regards,
Bill Giardina"
"Nine months later, still no mail-in rebate received and nothing but excuses when I call them."
"I had purchased Micrsoft Office Standard for domestic purpose with $150.00 mail-n-rebate. They lost the UPC label code which I had sent and they declined the mail-in-rebate. Moreover, the customer service is horrible, where they talk very badly and never get back to you inspite of several reminders. I would NEVR do any kind of business with them and ask other NEVER to do any kind of business with them....it was a nightmarish experience with COMPUSA."
"I purchased an item with a $90 rebate. Company went bankrupt and never sent rebate. I called CompUSA and they promptly sent me a check for $90. Great service! I usually don't shop there due to higher prices than other local sources but would buy from them again."
"I ordered 3 speaker set from compusa auction. The item arrived in a box that was smaller than the speaker set box. They packaged the item in a box and then taped it once. What an idiot!! I was lucky that the speaker set didn't fall out of the box. I will never buy things from compusa auctions!!!"
"I know that some people are having some trouble with some of the compusa stores, but I was rather impressed by the one in Boise, ID.
I met a guy there named Jeremy that really helped turn around my viewpoint of retailers. He wasn't an ass and definitely wasn't a moron. I was just going into the store to check if they had a couple parts I needed for a system I was planning on building. I was very surprised to learn they were building systems again AND they were of high quality. I took a look at a couple of their demo machines and was really impressed. It was all brand-name high end parts. Since it was cheaper than buying all the parts seperately I got one of their builds and it has been great. It outperforms the benchmarks I've seen for alienware and falcon northwest machines and they warranty it for 2 years. Their add-on warranty is really good, but it's usually too much, but they included it so I was happy. I did talk to another guy named Soloman and he just seemed like an used car salesman, but Jeremy was really good and wasn't a hard sell at all."
"Good price. Honored that price even though the item was out of stock. Shipped it quickly. Rebate process wasn't particularly friendly, but it works. "
"Their customer service is the worst! When you have a problem, they couldn't have sold you non-functional products and they want to charge you to test the products sold."
"I purchased an ACER laptop few years ago (Extensa 501T P-266) and a maxtor 20GB 7200rpm Hard Drive few years after. The laptop was an excellent purchase, no hassles, express delivery to Canada. The HD purchase was a headache. First they said it's out of stock, then took 1 month to go out!!. However, they offered a discount on the price which was satisfying. I would assume they grow too large too fast. Excellent shop but you may experience slight problems.
I never tried their Technical support so I can't speak for it."
"Custom Build PC's for people and use CompUSA very otfen to locate and purchace top quality parts. Prices are reasonable, and are easy to deal with."
"I was one of the eager beavers to pre-order a Microsoft Xbox. I placed the order a month and a half before the release date. The shipping date for the Xbox was Nov 16th. I waited eagerly that day for my shipping confirmation. I got none. I sent an e-mail inquiring about my purchase, and two weeks later I recieved a reply saying that the demand was so great they sold out and I was on the next shipping list. I seriously questioned this and went to the Electronics Boutique accross the street from my office and purchased an Xbox off the shelf with no trouble whatsoever. That was Dec 2nd I got all the games and accesories I had ordered from Compusa. I immediatly cancelled my order with them and told them not to bill me or ship my order since it still had not shipped. A week later Compusa shipped the Xbox minus most of the games, and all the accesories. I called and requested an RMA. It took two weeks for them to send an e-mail with the RMA #. The Xbox was promptly shipped back. A few days later (Dec 16) I recieved a shipping confirmation that they decided to ship the rest of the accessories. I requested yet another RMA #. It is now March. I have no RMA # and an un-opened box of Xbox accessories in my garage. I will never do business with Compusa again."
