"I purchased a portable air conditioner on July 1, 2006. The charge was made against my visa on July 6. After not receiving the product I checked back with their website to check the status of the shipment. Their status page showed the product as having been shipped, and their customer service rep. confirmed that it was shipped July 5.
However, the UPS tracking number that appears on the status page is invalid and after 5 days they have been unable to provide me with a valid number. I suspect that they marked the product as shipped without actually having shipped it so that they could charge my visa.
It is against Visa's regulations to charge a credit card account BEFORE shipping the product. I called to cancel the order and of course they told me the order cannot be cancelled because it has already shipped. I am disputing the charge with my bank, who is now investigating.
I strongly recommend against buying anything from this company."
"CompactAppliance had the only mini freezer on the internet, and at a reasonable price. They were extremely fast with the shipping (they state it takes up to 3 business days to process but my freezer was shipped out the next day). My only gripe was the packaging. When it arrived it was poorly taped and was coming open. They probably could've spent a few more minutes taping down the corners and sides. Other than that, great store, top notch."
"DON'T BUY FROM THESE GUYS!!! Sent me much cheaper item than I bought. Said they rescheduled pickup but told me wrong terms for pickup in that fedex would call me and I missed fedex b/c I've a fulltime day job. When I called them, the customer service supervisor (Eric) was very rude and told me they had done their best and I would have to keep the package or pay to ship it back. I then complained via email and then they then said they would reschedule. Fedex never showed and finally I got an email saying that I was never home and they were cancelling the pickup. Well, I took the day off twice during that week just so I could be home to hand off the package. I finally opened a dispute with my Credit card company and ebay (where they sell). What a nightmare! One of my worst purchase experiences. Never ever make the mistake of ordering from them."
"Called Customer service on the morning of the 20th to ensure item was in-stock, and would ship on-time. Was GAURANTEED by the representative that it would ship in 24hrs, from a warehouse located in NY. After reviewing the ground shipping maps and estimates from UPS and FedEx, the two possible shippers, we determined that it would be able to reach my home in NJ the day after it shipped, guaranteed by UPS. Placed the order that morning (Dec 20th 2005).
The item remains "In Warehouse" today, December 23rd. Their Customer Service team is out of the office Today through Monday, ensuring I will not be able to resolve this breach of their guarantee by insisting they pay for shipping overnight to reach my doorstep in time. I am canceling my order with them first thing on Tuesday morning by phone to ensure it is handled properly, as they have completely missed the deadline for receiving this package as a gift for Christmas. I will instead order a better wine rack, for less money, that will simply take longer to ship, from winerackstore.com

EDIT: Requested via multiple methods (Voicemail, 2 different email contacts) that I recieve a call from a supervisor on the 27th, the day they return to the office. No call recieved. Called CS today to cancel the order, and they were unable to tell me positively that they would be able to cancel it. I am contacting my bank to inform them of the circumstances and request that they not allow this company to charge my card. should I not recieve a confirmation back from them by endo of day that the order was infact canceled. This company continues to dissapoint, and an alternate vendor has been contacted and ordered from."

"Compactappliances.com screwed me! I spent close to $1000 on a stainless steel stove. There were quite a number of delays in shipping, snafus with them saying that they had called, but never leaving a message, etc. The real reason I am steamed is that when the delivery truck arrived, the shippers took it out of the box so I could look it over and promptly got rid of the box. This seems to be a common practice among shippers. The shippers removed the box for our refrigerator before it even came off the truck, so I assumed this was standard procedure. Only after the shippers left, did I notice a significantly large area of the glaze on the top that was bubbly. Only after I noticed that, did I notice the small print of the document that was given to me AFTER the box was thrown away: Compactappliances.com absolves itself of ANY responsibility whatsoever if the original box is missing. Ok, so I understand that it would be nice to return the stove in the box so that Compactappliances.com could turn it around and sell the defective product to someone else without having to repackaging it. Still, at this point customer service could do several things. They could call up the manufacturer and try to get a replacement part.
They could reimburse me the cost of a service call to have the manufacturer fix the part. (Apparently, items bought through Compactappliances.com do not have any kind of standard warrantee. Something else that I had mistakenly assumed).
Instead, Compactappliances.com stated that if I no longer had the box that they would not speak to me any more. The manager refused to speak with me.
When I called again to get a different agent, that agent said that there was a note on his computer stating that there was nothing more to discuss with me. I was stonewalled. I informed him that I would write a review explaining what happened. He told me to include in my review that I was wrong, and made some obscure reference to what would happen to my soul if I painted Compactappliances.com in a negative light. Actually, my soul is really not feeling so troubled knowing that I might prevent someone else from using Compactappliances.com."
