"i ordered samsung 1066 RDRAM from this group, and it ended up arriving in a box with no invoice. inside were 2 sticks of samsung memory, but they were labled 800 by samsung, then relabled with a sticker that said '1066, Void if removed'. Unfortunately for them, the sticker they used was see-through, so you could see the real speed rating. This has happened to at least 3 other perople, all ordering memory for the recently released ASUS p4t-533.
This is blantant fraud, and i have emailed their customer service about it and gotten no response. Since i live in their home state, i am considering pressing criminal charges against them by going to the Irvine District Atty. If you also have well documented fraud, please send mail to honeywagon at hotmail.com. I wrote out 'at' because email trawlers can grab it and end up putting it on even more spam lists (sigh). please subject the email with 'Components Direct Fraud'.
Finally, it might be hard to actually end up with documentation, as ALL the other memory victims were shipped their orders without an invoice (not a coincidence).
Just to summarize, DON'T BUY FROM THESE PEOPLE, the only reason why i got suckered in was because i didn't check here first, and they were one of very few online shippers offering the memory i wanted. they don't have a poor rating for nothing."
"Purchased some RAM two years ago that we had to return. We returned it promptly and have never received our refund, despite call after call after call, faxing them receipts, etc. This was specialized RAM costing $1600. Buyer beware! I'm happy for those who have had a good experience with this company, but ordering from them is akin to playing Russia roulette."
"I bought some 2 RDRAM modules, Samsung PC1066 from componentsdirect.com
I got them and they wouldn't run at PC1066 speeds. I looked at them closely and noticed that componentsdirect had put a sticker that said "VOID IF REMOVED" over the part of the module that said PC800. This sticker had their logo on it. It was not placed there by Samsung.
THEY REMARKED THE RAM AND SOLD IT AT INFLATED PRICES.
After 4 phone calls, they have agreed to send me some Kingston modules instead.

"The order left shipping in about 3 days, and arrived about 9 days later with ground delivery. I ordered 2 sticks of 256MB/1066 a P4T533-C Mainboard and a P4-2.4Ghz/533FSB. All are installed and working - I am satisfied with my order. As far as the memory being marked with sticker covering the "CM8" on the part number, it works as "1066" which should be marked as a "CM9", I called them and they said it was like a pre-production release of the Samsung "CM9" and that it was the same thing warranty and all - he even offered to exchange it with Kingston brand if I wanted. Bottom line - it works and I am satisfied."
"Disapointed in their service. It seems like that they are only on the phone to answer questions during a 3 hour window. There Samsung 1066 ram is all fake overclocked crap. They are the only place to cosistantly have 1066 ram in stock and it sucks how bad they are. So if they didn't have the ram I would never shop there again."
"Components Direct from my experience does not deserve the bad rap they are getting. The shipment went out three business days after I placed my order, which is about average. However, as soon as I emailed customer support to ask, they replied (within 20 minutes) and I got the shipment tracking info from UPS an hour after that. I am quite satisfied with there business, and would purchase from them again."
"Just got my memory delivered. It came on a saturday. It is in fact pc1066 and all working fine. I cannot believe they delivered on a saturday. I am very happy with my purchase seeing as googlegear just raised their price to 179.00. I will try componentsdirect again in the future

"Samsung PC1066 I bought from componentsdirect.com. Turns out that the Ram is actually PC800 with the Void if Removed sticker conviently covering the PC800 markings and model number on the original Samsung sticker. Thanks to some help on this board I found some info on the Samsugn ram I had.
Anyway I wrote them an Email and thought I would post it here to see what you guys thought:
Nick,
I spoke with another gentleman on the phone concerning order #******, and he mentioned you were the manager. I recently purchased 2 sticks of Samsung 1066 RDRAM, from Components Direct, and after installing them on my ASUS P4T 533-C motherboard, my computer refused to run at the 1066 speeds. So I reseated the the RAM, and when I did I noticed that underneath the sticker labeled “Memory Direct RIMM 256 1066 Void if Removed” that the original Samsung label said PC800. After a little investigating I found this link:
http://www.samsungelectronics.com/s...us_big_sale.htm
and part number MR16R1628AF0-CM8 on the memory is actually 40NS PC800 RDRAM. Normally when I order online I realize sometimes there are going be mistakes, but in this case the sticker labeled “Memory Direct RIMM 256 1066 Void if Removed” directly covers the PC800 on the original Samsung label as if to hide it. After working in retail computer stores, I understand how ordering and vendors work, and am not blaming your company for false advertising, although the ram is clearly not PC1066. I am upset though that I paid top dollar for something that doesn’t exist yet, as confirmed through Samsung that they have yet to release a 256MB PC1066 module as of yet.
The gentlemen I spoke with, explained to me the return policy, which for most cases is understandable but in this particular case I believe something else to be warranted. Since Samsung does not make a 256MB PC066 as of yet, you cannot replace it with a Samsung Module. I would ask that you do one of 2 things to fix this situation. 1) You can replace my 2 sticks of remarked PC800 with another brand. Kingston is the only manufacturer with actual PC1066 256MB modules for sale, or 2) you can refund my full purchase price including the 2 day shipping charges at $269.76.
Your prompt attention on this matter will be greatly appreciated.
Thank You,
Jonathan
I was trying to be as cordial as possible cause I am pretty upset."
"Ordered a Kingmax 128mb micro-dimm stick of RAM on 3/15 and got no confirmation at all about whether it was in stock. On 3/19 Components Direct charged my credit card for the RAM, but still did not confirm whether it was in stock. On 3/21 I emailed for confirmation about when I could expect a tracking number. I got no response. On 3/22, I called to cancel order; was put on hold for 20 minutes. While on hold I called on another line, got put on hold, but then they picked up on the 1st line. I cancelled the order. As of 3/25 they have still not rescinded the charge on my card. I just received a response to my email saying they'd cancel my order and get back to me about crediting my account by the end of the week.
Stay away from this merchant."
