"very satisfied with the service from compudirect.
my computer was wired excellently and booted right up. fortunately, I have not had to deal with tech support yet, but I'm sure if do it will be prompt and helpful.
I would recommend compudirect to anyone purchasing a new pc.

"Overall a good ordering experience, I got a Dell 2407FPW for about $75 less than Dell wants for it, with a better warranty too. Item arrived reasonably quickly, but the box it was shipped in was not taped up very well. The monitor works fine, despite probably having a bumpier ride than necessary."
"I purchased a Dell UltraSharp 2407WFP 24" Widescreen monitor from Compu-Direct. I was initially very skeptical of them because they say that they're not affiliated with Dell, their price was significantly lower than Dell, and the site said that the monitor comes with a 5 year warranty (Dell's default warranty is 3 years unless you pay extra).
To ease my fears (or confirm them), I called Dell directly. Dell's representative looked up Compu-Direct's website (compudirectpc.com) and the monitor I was purchasing. They comfirmed that the 5 year warranty was 100% legitimate and was, in fact, a Dell warranty. Apparently, when resellers purchase their items, they can pay for extra warranty periods and that is precisely what CompuDirect did!
The shipping was by DHL (much better and less expensive than UPS or FedEx) and the item arrived in perfect shape. The monitor is beautiful. One day after I received it, I got a follow up call from CompuDirect, asking if I received the item and if I was satisfied. I couldn't believe these guys--they're an online shopper's dream come true!

"I got my money and I am satisfied. They came through and took care of my complaint"
"I ordered a Lite-On 9016G VCR/DVD recorder from Compu-direct. I had been looking at these and could only find refurbished models. The Comp-direct website did not identify the Lite-On recorder they were selling as either open box or refurbished, but the price seemed a little low so I sent them an e-mail asking them to confirm that it was new and I got the response that the unit they were selling was "brand new".
What I received was a recorder in a brown box. When I took the recorder out I saw that the sticker that should have been on the back with the serial number had been removed, with some of the adhesive remaining. The box looked like it had been opened and then resealed. Also, I looked at another website that sells clearly marked refurbished units and their pictures showed a brown box (exactly like mine) with a sticker on the top from Lite-on that said it was refurbished. Looking at my box I saw that a label of that size and at that exact location had been removed. Lastly, and oddly, my unit seemed to be missing footpads that were on the unit originally.
I do admit that I did not pay the retail price that these seem to sell for and I tested it and it does appear to work fine.
I sent Comp-Direct an e-mail with these observations and asking for a response. Two days later I had not received a response to the e-mail but I looked on their website and they had added the words "Brown Box. (NOT RETAIL BOX)" to their product description and raised the price $30 to $109 (I paid $79). I did not see any words saying that the unit was refurbished.
In summary, brand new VCR/DVD recorders do not come in a brown box with the serial number sticker removed, but as long as the recorder continues to work, I got my money's worth. I'll leave it up to the readers of this to decide if they should do business with Compu-Direct.

"I didn't read any reviews on this company before I made my purchase. I'm surprised at the negative reviews, I had a good experience with them. I purchased the Dell 1707fp, it shipped the next day and arrived at the location I sent it to two days later. Works great, packaging was fine, I really had no complications, so props from me."
"Ordered an 'open box' Dell 2005FPW monitor for a terrific price, even though the previous reviews of CompuDirect here gave me the chills.
Received the monitor without a DVI cable nor a CD with drivers/user manual. I emailed CompuDirect about this and they didn't even bother to reply.
I just installed the monitor today and found that the onscreen display buttons don't work at all.
Fortunately, I can change monitor settings via my graphics card.
The monitor itself is a gem and I'm not about to incur a 20% restocking fee by returning the monitor. However, I will never deal with these folks again and will discourage others from doing so likewise."
"Called these guys to confirm they had a AMD Athlon 64 X2 4200 939 CPU in stock that showed availble on their website. Was told it was in stock and would ship the next day. Placed order, and checked status the next day. The order still showed in progress. Called them again to ask why it had not shipped and was told it takes 1-2 days for them the ship. I again asked for confirmation that this CPU was in stock and was again told it was. Another day went by and check my 3 orders again for this CPU. Now, not only had the orders still not shipped, but they had also changed the addresses on 2 of them. I again called and asked what was going on. Was again told that the CPU was in stock and it would ship the next day. Also asked them to call me back and tell me what the status is. So, what do they do, they cancel the order, and don't have the guts to call me back and tell me. These guys are terrible. Be careful if you order from them. They have terrible customer service."
"I appreciate the phone contact by the company. Quick response to my order and very fast shipping. I will use CompuDirect in the future. "
"Good pricing, though a device conflict resulted in their swapping video cards without informing me or giving me the option of whether i wanted to go up in price or down, they gave me a card that listed for $44 less than the one I originially specified for my system, without telling me and without giving me any sort of credit on my account until about 4 phone calls later. They also gave me a refurbished drive different from the one I specified though I saw it as a lateral switch and did not press that issue with them. If you do do business with them contact them frequently during the burn in period to make sure that they are putting the parts into your computer that you requested."
"I ordered a flat panel Thursday night and it arrived the following Tuesday. Order acknowledgement was prompt and shipping notice came a day later, and was right on target. I've placed two orders with CompuDirect recently and both have gone smoothly. I haven't had to deal with their customer service, nor have I tried to cancel or return an order, but both orders I've placed were shipped quickly and accurately. No complaints from this customer."
"I placed an order for a Dell 9150 PC on March 2nd, using Compudirect's website. The estimated shipping stated 3-4 days. This was completely untrue. I sent an email to Compudirect after a week, asking for an order update. No reply. I called, and after 5 minutes was told it would ship "in a couple of days".
3 days later I called back (after 2 more emails had been ignored), and I talked to somebody with a thick Russian accent explaining to me that Dell hadn't shipped THEM the system yet, and it was all their fault. It would ship with 3-4 days, and had I placed the order over the phone, I would have been told this. He did not explain why they offer web-based ordering if he expected me to use their phone service. Rude isn't the word for it.
I received the PC on March 21st, 5 minutes before I had to leave town for 6 days (I had placed the order 2 weeks earlier, assuming I would have had it long before).
However, the deliveered system has the incorrect CPU (I placed an order for an Intel D930, yet this one came with a D830 - both Dell's service tag and several system checks confirm this). I also did not receive a Windows XP OS CD (even though I placed an order for one).
Both the invoice and the order confirmation state that I ordered these 2 items.
1. If I email CompuDirect about this, I will never hear back.
2. If I call, I will get a run-around story about how Dell doesn't sell a 9150 system with a 930 CPU, and that they don't sell XP CD's (which they do). The point is that CompuDirect specifically let me order and pay for a system they could not deliver.
I also custom-configured the system with a nVidia graphics card, which was installed. However, Compudirect neglected to un-install the ATI drivers that originally shipped with the system (they ordered the Dell with an ATI X300), causing initial boot up problems, and blue screens of death. I knew how to correct the problem, but shoddy driver installation from a computer reseller is ridiculous.
I will eat my losses, and purchase my own 900 series CPU (Compudirect claims it takes 4-6 weeks to refund money). My advice: AVOID this store like the plague. I've learned my lesson, and will order directly from Dell from now on."
"This company is unbeleiveable! We placed an order for a brand new Dell monitor and when we received the box we had doubt that it was brand new because it looked used or refurbished. The other end of the VGA cable that was attached did not have any protection on it and was basicaly loose in the box. The cd had been opened and had scratches and fingerprints on it. The CD was in a large plastic ziplock bag that obviously used to contain more than just a CD and that bag was taped to the protective cover on the LCD pannel. there was no manual, no instructions no warranty card. We called Dell to investigate this and Dell asked us for a Dell order number. They also said that we would need that Dell order number in order to get the warranty on the monitor.
So we called Compudirect to get the Dell order number for our monitor and they gave it to us. We then called Dell back and with that order number Dell confirmed that the monitor was NOT new but it was a refurbished monitor.
We called Compudirect about it and they kept denying this, even though Dell had confirmed it and it was all too obvious from the packaging that it was not new. They told us that they are openeing the boxes to test the monitors to make sure they are not defective.
We asked for a RMA number and we said that we wanted to return it for a refund because it was also obvious that we would never get the Dell 3 years warranty that the brand new monitor have as this one was refurbished according to Dell. Compudirect was very rude and said that they will charge us 20% restocking fee, still denying that it was a refurbished.
We returned the monitor that same day and ordered one from Dell directly. Few days later we received our BRAND NEW monitor from Dell and what a difference! The brand new monitor came in a very different packaging. It was not pre-assembled and the LCD pannel was well protected with 2 styrofoam molded pannels and a protective cover. It also had a clear protective plastic sheet on the LCD. The monitor that we received from Compudirect did not have that protective plastic sheet at all! That was our second proof that the one we received from compudirect was not new.
That's not all. With the brand new monitor we had receive a manual and also a quick install sheet. Also the VGA cable that came attached to the monitor had protective material so that it would not scratch anything.
From that point it was obvious that we had enough proof that the first monitor was refurbished. So we filed a dispute with the credit card company to get our money back on the refurbished monitor.
Now the cherry on the sunday? This morning we received a threatening phone call from Compudirect saying that they will charge us 20% restocking fee and that they will file a law suit because we had posted a review about our experience with them!
These people are unbeleiveable! If you want to avoid yourself the same nightmares, avoid this company. I can't beleive that they called us to threaten us.
BTW, the threatening will NOT stop us from posting our experience on review sites, quite the opposite. This type of behavior WILL NOT scare us from reporting this.
UPDATE.
to response to the reply of the merchant. We did not post this review because we were charged a 20% restocking fee. We posted this review because we had to warn other people about how we were abused and misleaded. We bought a brand new monitor with 3 years warranty and received an open package with a refurb monitor in it.
compudirect gave us the Dell order number for that monitor, and after contacting Dell with that order number they CONFIRMED that the monitor was in deed refurbished. Dell also confirmed that the monitor did NOT have 3 year warranty because it was refurbished.
compudirect did call us to threaten us of a law suit because we posted that review, they did not call us to tell us they will charge a 20% restocking fee because they had already mentioned this many times to us.
We wanted the monitor. If it would have been as advertized we would have keep it. We had absolutely no interest to order that monitor from compudirect and then return it and order it from Dell because we had not only to pay the shipping but also we paid a higher price directly from Dell. But we had placed an order for a brand new monitor and that's what we wanted. That is NOT what we recieved from compudirect.
There would be absolutely no interest for us to do this, no interest what so ever. quite the opposite as now we have to go into all the hassle of a crecit card dispute, Better Business Bureau etc.
I wish to avoid other people the same horrible experience as we had.
Read their policy! These people are making money out of abused customers. They ship misadvertized products knowing very well that people are going to return it, and they make good money on the restocking fee arterward.
A fraudulant practice for sure.

"Purchased Dell Widescreen UltraSharp 2405FPW and received it before promised. Shortly after receiving it I noticed that an entire half of the display had some magnenta color filled by every pixel. If the monitor had no input you could see it clearly for a second until the display turns off without input. Most colors this didn't have a problem with but on some colors it would mix funny causing the graphics to look ugly.
Either way I contacted compudirect via their website and opened an RMA on Monday the 27th February. After not hearing back anything through the week I decided to call them Friday the 3rd March.
They told me that they had already ordered a new monitor for me from dell and should have it sent for delivery either that day or the following Monday. That night I received an e-mail with shipping information that it was shipped.
Will update after receiving monitor and tested for a week.
Great marks on sending the new monitor first and allowing me to ship back the defective. It would be best though to keep me updated so that I'm not wondering if they are going to take care of this problem."
"These guys suck. I ordered one of those Dell 2405fpw monitors, I even paid for the pre-test so I would supposedly get a working product. When it finally shipped, the screen had a region where a bunch of random pink pixels would show up. I tried different video cards / cables so the monitor was no doubt defective. I called customer service to get a replacement and all they had to say about it was contact Dell. This lack of responsibility on their part shows they have no interest in the customer. The monitor also had a 100% satisfaction guarantee, which I mentioned, but I kept getting the runaround about how this is Dell's problem. If the price is too good to be true it probably is. I'm sure these thieves make a lot of money shipping defective products and then charging restocking fees."
