"I had previously ordered a new OEM pull tuner card for a low price ( less than $7 ) with free shipping, after I configured it for my system I was very impressed with how well it worked . I decided to order a second one and when I submited the order the was a rather large shipping charge ( over $9 ). I called Compuvest and was told the free shipping applies to first time customers only. I was dissappointed but the card was still worth the extra shipping fee. It is not clear that the free shipping applies to first time customers only, if I had been aware of that I would have order two cards the first time. My thinking was I would order one card and make sure it worked with Mythtv and then order the second."

"Sorry this is so long, but I am still in the throes of my indignation...I'm too wordy as it is and that just makes things worse.

I ordered some Epson receipt printers. When I searched the site for the model I got a list of the same model, but different mfr codes. I contacted Epson about the different codes and they said I should accept the description of the product that their reseller gives me to know the difference from one model to the next. Of the 7 listed one specified in the listing that there was no power supply included. That was good information for the customer. And that told me that since the others had no such limitation that they would have power supplies.

Uh, no. Their listing specified for one of the configurations that there would be no power supply included but for the rest they simply said "Input Voltage : 24 V AC". The only conclusion a customer can come to is that one has no power supply, the rest do. On none of the others did they specify that there was no power supply.

OK, at this point I'm still fine. Stuff happens...let's get it straightened out and we'll all go on about our business. When I contact them about it they said, 'Yeah, that model doesn't come with a power supply.' I said I wanted to exchange them for the printers that were exactly the same except they came with a power supply and were $14 CHEAPER than the ones I bought. They said that was fine, but I'd have to pay a 15% restocking fee. WHAT! They failed to include a vital bit on info on their listings and I HAVE TO PAY FOR THE OVERSIGHT?!

Then they said that to avoid the restock fee I could buy new power supplies from them. They normally cost $55 but she claimed to be a sales manager so she could make a deal with me & sell them for $45. (EDIT: A CSR says that the price quoted was actually $35, not $45. I don't have a copy of the session and I was seeing red by that point so I have to concede that this may be true.) I checked the site...$45 is regular price! She's acting like she's doing me a favor, all the while extorting more money out of me because their listings were incomplete! They failed to include a vital bit of info on their listings and if they can't get the restock fee from me their next solution is to UPSELL MORE PRODUCT THE LISTING MISLED ME INTO THINKING I WAS GETTING TO BEGIN WITH, all the while having the nerve to act like she's doing me a favor?!

I didn't want anything unreasonable...their listing was incomplete and all I wanted was a straight up exchange for an identical product with the missing part, one that was actually cheaper than what I got and they could even keep the difference...I just wanted the product specified in the listing straight up – no refunds, no extras, no mea culpa required...just make it right.

I wasn't even upset about things at the beginning because, as a website owner, I understand how stuff happens. But I also go out of my way to make things right with the customer when they point it out to me; I DO NOT TRY TO EXTRACT MORE MONEY FROM A CUSTOMER THAT I HAVE ALREADY WRONGED ONCE WITH AN INCOMPLETE WEBSITE LISTING.

"They had a great deal on what i was looking for. It was somewhat deceiving though as it showed up as new on one page on their site, and when i discovered it was New with an OPEN box when i got it, i went back on the site and saw that it was listed two ways on two different pages. One as NEW and one as NEW WITH OPEN BOX. The page that i landed on from a google search result showed it as new. If you don't look at it on the correct page on their site though, you won't notice it is open box, so do your research on their site to know what you are getting. Im not sure if this was intentional or not but this aside however, i am very pleased with the condition it is in. It works fine, looks new and is clean and complete, so i am going to keep the product. It was also shipped and received exactly when they said it would be. I didn't try to contact anyone in customer service so i cannot comment on that.

The only other thing i wasn't crazy about is that this website stole my debit card info and opened a fraudulent account with walmart.com in my name and tried to buy gift cards. Good thing i caught it quickly and only lost $100 which i eventually got back. I don't know if the owners of the site did this, an employee, or if the website was hacked by a third party. Either way, that was shady.

Would i use this merchant again, most likely yes if they had what i wanted at a good price. Thats of course only as long as i could figure out a way to pay them without exposing sensitive credit/debit information to them.

"After receiving a defective product I went through the process of trying to return it for a replacement, I received an email stating that I had to pay the shipping to return it and that I could not get the shipping money back even if it proved defective. I was very upset and decided not even to bother so I wasn't out even more money, and just forgot about it. Now a few days later I received a call from Compuvest customer support (completely unbidden) that they were sorry I received a defective product but they didn't have any replacements in stock and were refunding my money!! Out of the blue. It is not often that ANY company let alone an internet based one tries to keep their customers so happy, though I am disappointed I could not get a working product I am VERY impressed with their customer service. Nice to see a company looking to encourage repeat customers which they just have."

"So far CompuVest has done a good job. They sent the VGA extender to me quickly. The problem was the extender itself was not very good. I bought it over the more basic model because it had multiple Monitor outputs. They listing states that it can transmit up to 500ft over Cat5 but, it was unable to reach the 187ft that I needed it to go. The guy from Startech was very helpful and told me that the one-to-one over Cat5 was really the best for running long distances. Having used that model before (and it last 5 years plugged in 24/7) I have returned the part to CompuVest and am awaiting there approval for exchange. CompuVest was quick in sending me an RMA number and instructions for returning/exchanging the item. Hopefully all goes well from here. "
