"My order was with 7Bytes, but it's justt a
front company for Compu-terra.
I ordered 2 160 gig hds on the 18th
I receved the e-mail saying they got the order
was charged on the 21st, receved a e-mail from
them on the 23 saying they were out of stock
and would I like a 100 gig, phoned them,
talked to customer service got a story
about customs holding the drives and they were due
on fri and they would ship soonest after they got
them. called the following monday to confirm shipping
was told out of stock still and were not getting any
longer and would I like to take the 100gig, cancled order
4 days later got the refund,, all in all took 2.5 weeks
to find out they were never restocking the drive.
Update 6/21/02, checked on Pricewatch and now they have
the drives back online again for a higher price."
"front company for compu-terra
see my comments there"
"Hard to do business with, they never give shipping status and don't answer email, or the phones. place order on Monday, I had to call from Tuesday to Friday to find out status, finally on Friday I got someone to answer the phone, he told me order still had not even been processed! but of course they charged a hold on card the same day i ordered!! well the guy that hand walked in to shipping got the order shipped via Airborne, but provided me a tracking number but told me its was Fedex. Anyway package got here, it was correct, though the retial sepicial hard drive were not the special ones I orderd, I order 8m 120 gig WD's they sent the standard ones. NEVER EVER BUY FROM THESE GUYS PERIOD!!!!"
"I have purchased 2 barebones systems (Duron 950 MHz) and one complete system (bargain 300 MHz) and haven't had a problem. I ordered all off the web site so I haven't tried the phone orders. They have great prices on barebones but recently took them off of their website. I don't know if this is temporary or not. I hope it is because I am looking to buy a few more. All in all no problems so far, and no defective products. "

"I ordered through 7bytes.com. Site said nothing about the delay for shipping. 1st day - no product. 2nd day - no product. Called 7bytes. Voicemail mentioned Compu-Terra. Compu-Terra says oh, that order is not in our system. Gave the order verbally. Told it would ship that day. LIE. Paid the $27. overnight shipping only to have the product ship four days after I ordered it. The staff willingly lied to me about my order being shipped. I asked for the tracking # and they said oh, we sent it yesterday Fed_ex, here is the tracking #, but it won't show up in the system for tracking until tomorrow. LIE. Price was good - but definately not worth the hassle of being lied to over and over again. especially when my order was mission-critical."
"This Computer store should be kept off the internet! Horrible business. Horrible customer service and no leniency whatsoever on the shipping charges after sending ME the wrong motherboard"
"Prices very good and sales knowledgable and courteous. Phone tag possible but returned same day. Ship parts ONLY, dont have them built. 4th order and I can still recommend them."
"re: quick no-hassle exchange
:)
purchased a motherboard almost a year ago. exchanged under warranty, got it back within 2 weeks. i think this is a good reliable company. they even covered fedex shipping back to me. strongly recommended.
"
"HORRIBLE. This has to be the WORST online buying experience I have ever had.
They got my ship to address wrong, I asked them to correct it. They didn't correct it. Their shipping person sent the package out with an unreadable address! Fedex attempted delivery. I sent Compu-Terra an email about the problem. They never responded. I had to call Fedex and correct it myself. I WISH THAT I NEVER BOTHERED. AT LEAST THEN FEDEX WOULD HAVE RETURNED THE PRODUCT.
All I can say, is they misrepresent their products. I took the "Seagate OEM" drive out of the box, and it was a fake.
I have worked in the manufacturing sector for many year. Based on that impression, I called Seagate and spoke with their techinical support person. This person told me that the drive was not a Seagate drive and it was not to be sold under the name Seagate. I can ONLY guess what this means. They also said that some retailer bought "PC Peripherials" inventory (of counterfit drives) and that the retailer has been warned not to sell these drives under the name Seagate.
*** Seagate also ASKED ME for my contact information and told me that they would be in touch with me about this.
I requested that Compu-Terra pay the return shipping cost. They have refused. I guess they will just have to pay off some less informed customers to lessen the impact of my rating for them.
*** If you have any questions about the association between Compu-Terra and Compu-Choice follow this link with www.bbb.com :
http://www.cleveland.bbb.org/nis/newsearch2.asp?ID=1&ComID=0312000017003517
*** Read what the BBB says, and what Anita wrote below. She lied about the management.
*** They insist the drive is legit. I have told them I want a contact at Seagate. They point me to an online tool. An online tool which you punch a model number into ??? What kind of a fool do they take me to be? I guess I was a fool to try this company.

"yes!
great company! I belive that it is hard to buy great products at cheap prices, but when something doesn't work, tech support and customer service always help me to resolve my problems fast and professionally. I strongly reccommend this company to others."
