I am a Staff Member at Columbia University and periodically assist other employees with PC computer hardware and software issues.
Just last week, someone with a Sony Viao laptop and 1.0 GB of onboard RAM memory downloaded the University site-licensed version of MS Windows 7 (32 bit)...immediately slowed the laptop down to less than a crawl.
I ordered the RAM maxx for the machine from Crucial---4.0 GB on two (2) chips, one for each memory bank. Opened the UPS pack, installed the RAM, and suddenly, Windows 7 came to life: fast boot, nice graphics, snappy response, Everybody Happy.
