"I was impressed with the speed of the order processing and the time it took for me to receive my order. I ordered on a Wednesday, received on Saturday. However, that was about the only thing I was impressed with. The quality of the items I ordered were fine; trendy and made well enough for a season or two of wear.
One of the items I ordered did not fit so I decided to return. I used the return label that came with the package, read the return instructions, indicated I preferred refund over store credit, and dropped off my package the following Monday, 8/26. After about a week, and even waited until after Labor Day weekend, with no word from DailyLook regarding my refund, I decided to email customer service on 9/3.
They gave me the same spiel all online retailers give regarding refunds: "Please allow up to 7 business days for refunds to be processed blah blah blah." Ok fine, I thought. I'll wait it out, no biggie. I asked them to provide me the tracking number for my return so I could follow the status myself.
This is the part that gets interesting. Turns out, DailyLook uses a third-party company to process their return shipping. Their returns facility is in Ontario, CA but the third-party company is located in Sparks, NV. My package left Los Angeles, sent to their third-party agent in Nevada, then back to Ontario for processing. Even though Ontario is about 50 miles east of LA, the package was not received by their returns center until 9/4 -- more than a week after it was sent back. I live in LA so it probably would’ve been faster if I had driven myself and the package to Ontario! Exasperated and annoyed, I waited the full 7 business days and finally emailed them again on 9/16 as I still did not receive confirmation on my return.
The response I received was all the more frustrating. They told me that my return was processed on 9/13 as store credit. Since I used their returns label that came with the package and did not indicate whether I wanted a refund or store credit, which was incorrect BTW -- it was marked on the return packing slip that I wanted a full refund -- they automatically applied store credit of $40 to my account. They further stated that if I wanted refund back on my credit card, they will have to deduct $5.95 for return shipping. I immediately called customer service and asked that they return the money to my CC but that I refused to pay the $5.95 for return shipping since the policy indicated the $5.95 only applied to orders less than $75. I ordered more than $100 worth of stuff. When their rep reread the policy back to me, I was FURIOUS. Their policy is worded in such a way that most people will completely misunderstand and be misled. Annoyed, I told her I just wanted the refund back on my card, even if they were going to deduct the $5.95. The rep was very understanding and told me she will process the refund on my card and not deduct the $5.95 and apologized for the misunderstanding.
Though I appreciated her effort and her patience with my annoyance, I will never shop at DailyLook again and this is my final reason why, aside from the fact that it took more than two weeks for a return to be processed. The item I was returning retails for $49.99. I used a 20% off coupon for my order, so the sale price was only $39.99 + tax. Remember I said earlier I only received $40 in store credit? So……WHAT HAPPENED TO THE TAX I PAID??? I emailed DailyLook again because I refused to speak to another rep regarding another issue I had with this company. This was their response: “You are absolutely correct! Our system doesn't automatically add sales tax so when we did the return, the tax was not added. We went ahead and credited you the $3.59 in your card as well.”
Well, thanks, I guess. But does this mean that everyone else will need to catch this mistake and bring it to the company’s attention in order for them to be credited/refunded correctly?
DailyLook's motto is "premium fast fashion". But after this fiasco, I'm more inclined to think this company is more concerned with making some "fast cash" off of young, unsuspecting women. Soooo over you, DailyLook. Sloppy return policies are so 1995. "
"WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SITE. Ordered about 200 dollars worth of clothing. Although some of it was nice, one piece was misaligned (a jacket). It noticeably did not line up correctly and was longer on one side. Although they claim returns are free, (THEY TAKE FOREVER) but that was not the wort part,returns are not free if you want the money returned to your credit card regardless if you paid credit initially. They take 5.59 off for return shipping when you are issued the money. I returned my items over 2 weeks ago, have not been credited yet the money and have had to contact them 3 times already. am still waiting. SO DISAPPOINTED and will make sure all my friends and family never order from here again. "
