"I placed an order with Digitally Discovered(DD) on 12/2/04 for a Panasonic SV-AV50S. When the order was placed, this item was listed for $249.00 (I have a printout of the page showing this price as proof). DD even offered me free shipping if I purchase an extra battery for the camera and I agreed. So they gave an order confirmation number of K60176.

On 12/6/04, DD called me and told me that they just learned about $100 rebate by Panasonic. Hence, they would like to increase the charge to my credit card by $100, i.e. now they want to sell the camera to me at $349 instead of the last week's price of $249. I did not budget for that extra $100 for the camera, so I told them that I could not buy the camera at $349 and may need to cancel the order. DD stated that they do not wish to cancel, will take a lost on my order and ship the order out in the PM of 12/6/04. DD also stated that I will receive a confirmation email with tracking number after the order is shipped.

By 12/8/04, I still have not yet received the confirmation email. So I called DD and inquired about my order. DD told me that my order was shipped and should arrive tomorrow, 12/9/04. I asked for a tracking number, DD stated that they cannot give me one because their system does not show tracking numbers. I did not want to waste my time to argue, so I left at that.

On 12/10/04, I contacted DD again and told them that my order did not arrive yesterday as promised. As soon as the first DD Sales Rep pulled up my order, he transferred me randomly to another Rep. The second Rep did basically the same thing except he at least had the courtesy to transfer me to the Rep who originally took my order. The Original Rep told me that DD instrcuted him to cancel my order because they could not honor the price of $249. I asked him why not at least inform me. He said that he tried to call me, but I know it is not true because he was able to contact me on 12/6/04 when he wanted to charge me extra $100 and now he cannot and leave no messages, I do not think so. I believe DD just cares about making money and did not care about its customers at all.

My conclusion is that I will never purchase anything from DD in the future. I hope this message will reach those who are thinking about buying from this company. Do your due diligence before shop with this company.

"ORDER #76356
I rate this seller very poor. Due to their business practices. I went through the following process with them:

1) Used price grabber to find that they had the lowest advertised price for a Minolta Dimage Xt digital camera. ( I was purchasing two for my daughters for Christmas ). I determined to make the purchase from digitallydiscovered because of their low advertised price.

2) I placed an order with them using my Discover card from their website on December 3, 2004. After placing the order and receiving an e-mail confirmation, I received an e-mail indicating that I must call them to confirm the order before they shipped. They were not availble (no answer) when I called on Friday. I finally reached them on monday to be directed to a sales person who tried to sell me an extended warranty on top of my purchase. I inquired to be certain that they had the cameras in stock but declined the extended warranty.

3) On December 8, I receive an e-mail from them saying that there is no more stock and it would be 10-12 business days before they even start processing the order. I then cancelled the order immediately.

My problems with them are the following:
a. Having to make a phone call to complete an order where I'd already given a credit card on-line.
b. The obvious reason for the phone call was to pressure me into buying the extended warranty. The low price was a hook so they could get you on the phone for the pressure sale.
c. Indicating that they had stock, but that changed immediately after I declined to purchase the extended warranty. Then waiting two more days to tell me.

"I believe this store used a bait-and-switch tecnique. I called just prior to placing my order to verify that the camera was in stock. The salesman confirmed this, and then tried to sell a "holiday gift package" (only mildly annoying) to which I declined. I placed my order and received confirmation via email. Within a few hours, I recieved an email asking me to contact the vendor, which I did. The salesman again tried to sell me the gift package, I again declined, and the salesman stated that the product would ship within 3-5 business days. Within hours, I received another email stating that the item had been oversold. When I contacted customer service, I was first told that in order to receive the camera in time for Xmas, I would HAVE to buy the gift package. Then, I was told that they didn't have the camera plus gift package anyway. Then, the customer service person hung up on me mid-question. I called again and was told that because I didn't want the gift package, I would definitely not receive the camera in time. I immediately canceled the order. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH DIGITALLY DISCOVERED!!! "

"Overall I am very satisfied with my recent purchasing experience with this company. I was told the camera would ship with standard ground shipping in 2 days with delivery in 10 days and that a tracking number would be sent in 2 - 3 days. I was sold a few accessories during the confirmation call back but I intended to purchase them anyway and the salesperson (Jeff) discounted them to a price I would have paid at any other store. Jeff was very pleasant and professional. I did not receive a tracking number...instead the camera was delivered to me in 3 days with all items included. It is a great camera so I have no need to use the return information included in the packaging."

"The experience was the worst. They said I'd get a tracking number is 2-3 days. Didn't happen. Then it's impossible to get through on the phone. The recorded holding message says to use the web site for fast service. The web site then says to call for fast service. I got through to a person by pushing line #2 to confirm orders. They just lie to get you off the phone. There was no tracking number, they said they sent it USPS, it never arrived, they said it was returned twice (yeah right, our business has been here for 30 years). We're now waiting on a refund. I filed with the BBB and have the credit card order in dispute. Nothing but a scam! Welcome to a third world business. Stay away."

"The other reviews on this site is correct. I am very used to online transactions but even I got caught in the trap.

I found digitallydiscovered through ShopCartUSA who showed decent reviews for the company. I ordered a Fuji S7000 expecting some follow up sales calls. Someone called me to prevent fraudulent orders (which I am sure they wouldn't care if the order was in fact fraudulent) but was trying to sell me batteries for $60.00, lens filters, and extended warranties.

The guy was really a poor salesperson in his delivery (i guess if they were good salespeople, they would be working a real job.) He said I was required to purchase an extended warranty, which I said I didn't see that requirement on the website. I told him I would cancel the order if I had to buy a warranty (thinking I would call his bluff) and he said ok and hung up.

Due to the feedback I saw on this website after I ordered, I placed a hold on my credit card to make sure my credit card will not be charged.

For future reviewers...please say if you were able to obtain a refund if you were charged.

"Discovered after placing the order that they were selling body only version of camera then selling back all the pieces in the retail box, for more than I could buy the package elsewhere. Cancelled the order over the phone, but they shipped anyway in nondescript box -- charging my credit card with half cost one day and the rest the next day -- to make it harder to deal with credit company, I guess. Web form to request RMA, still waiting... They seem to pass the orders off to another internet camera company to fill them. I will never even consider ordering from them again."

"I purchased a Camedia C-740 from this "business". The camera was advertised as NEW and at a great price. However, after I made my purchase from "Kevin", I found this web site... I wish I would have found it sooner. After I placed the order for the camera, I never received a confirmation email. But, I became proactive. I called Kevin back and asked him to fax me a copy of the invoice as well as a detailed description of the camera, asking him to specifically note that the camera was brand new. (He actually did it!) Id did receive the camera the following week. I opened it and found not a new, but a refurbished product (which was confirmed by an Olympus official). I called and spoke to "Carter" who instructed me to return the camera and I would receive a NEW one. The camera was sent back via UPS (for documentation purposes) and was received. No word on the new one for a couple of weeks until one day I received a note on my door from UPS that they were trying to deliver a package from "EJ Enterprises, Brooklyn, NY". I refused the package, UPS returned it and I filed a charge dispute with American Express. American Express began to deal with them. While American Express refunded my $, they could not get in touch with these bozos in order to get their money back. I would be interested in filing a suit or something against these guys if any of you are interested."

"Absolutly terrible experience. Ordered a Panasonic Camcorder. That day someone called (Kevin) and tried to sell me some overpriced accessories. They said the 3 hour battery that was supposed to come with it was a misprint and I would want want to get a better battery. I told him just to cancel the order.
Next thing I know I get an email confirmation saying the order had been shipped! I called to complain and the guy that answered (Carter) said that there had been a misunderstanding and I would get all the standard accssories.
Only thing is - I never received anything. I called again and the same guy answered said that the package had been returned as undeliverable. At that poit I told him to cancel the rder and credit my card. A couple of calls since and the card is still not credited and it's been two weeks.
Either these guys are incompetent or just plain crooks. I would avoid at all cost!!

"Five weeks, five phone calls, all eliciting same response - "Your order will go out next week." Last two gave me my place in queue, but I slipped! On three of the calls they tried to upsell the "special deals" they offered. Am forced to wonder whether I might have my camera if I'd accepted their "special deals." I have given up, and am ordering from another supplier."

"What a terrible online company was: DigitallyDiscovered.com, I did not check out their rating before placing an order, I am ordering a Canon camcorder for my daughter's birthday. Of course, she still did not have her gift at all. After 2 weeks and 6 to 7 phone call, they send me an empty box with full of package bubble foam inside. The people working there is rude, mean and.......Please don't order anything from them, you will just get ripped off from them! They only list the lowest price on website to attract people's attention only. Now I am still working with Credit card company hopefully I can have my $$ back soon. I also file complaint to NY City BBB, wish they can also do something for us - the consumer! Take this Company out from website and out of Business. I HOPE!!"

"I want to tell you, I read this site after ordering from Digitally Discovered, and I nearly had a heart attack.
I know my review is significantly different from the rest, so I'll describe my experience in length.
As I wrote, I was petrified after reading all the reviews here, but since I already ordered, and my credit card was billed a day after, I decided to wait and see.
I found them on the web, but decided to call to order, because I wasn't sure about the product (it seemed to cheap for a brand new Minolta Dimage A2). They were quite pleasant, and did not push hard for additional products.
They gave me a confirmation number on spot, and said I'll have the package in 10 days (I wasn't in a hurry).
I got the package exactly 10 days afterwards, with all the items, but one mistake - the spare battery was normal instead of high-capacity. I am now demanding the 40 dollars difference back, and I beleive I'll get it.
One thing I'm not so satisfied about is the lack of confirmation by e-mail. I had to call 2 additional times before I got a confirmation and a tracking number, that confirmed that I'm not forgotten.

"Very dissatisified with the "bait and switch" game. I attempted to purchase a Canon Digital Rebel Camera kit -- at a very good price listed on their website. I received a telephone call with a very hard "accessory" sales job -- then on to selling me an extended warranty. I declined both and said I just wanted the camera kit. The sales person reissued an order number (different number than the one I was first issued) and was told a different company would handle the order - don't call them for 12 business days -- they will call you to reload my credit card data. There was no call and my email correspondance goes unanswered. This company is nothing more than a "bait and switch" shop -- of the worst kind. "

"I went on line to purchase a camera, nikon 5700, said in stock and I would receive a tracking #,
never received one. Multiple calls and emails-then would receive the camera in 1-2 weeks. I had to confirm my order and hard sell for other products--I didn't purchase so they conveniently has a backorder on the camera. Then I read these rating and cancelled my order promptly.
