"I just want to thank all you people that have taken the time to expose these "merchants!" and to whoever is responsible for putting up this web site. I wanted an Olympus c-8080 very bad and was prepared to order it. However after reading all of your comments I came to my senses. I had forgot that the basis for every sting operation is the greed of the mark. Of course, who wouldn't want a Porsche or a BMW even though an Escort would do everything that I needed a car for. Does this mean these sellers are not crooks?
Of course not. 95% of the murders in prison gave the reason they had murdered as "the victim had asked for it". These sellers need to be punished for their crimes. Although from the comments I am reading some have been in business for years with impunity. And we can't blame the manufacturers for creating our greed. They will sell their goods for what we are willing to pay. These digital cameras are extremely overpriced. For a $1000 digital you can get a comparable film type for about $200 and I'll bet the film type costs more to manufacture! If I really "need" a new camera I will just have to wait two years and the price will be the "real fair cost". Thanks again to everyone for bringing me back to Earth."
"update: August 15, 2004. Digitially Discovers refuses to cancel my order-keeps telling me via email to call in with the CORRECT order number. I keep emailing them back telling them that they have never given me the CORRECT order number, no invoice, no tracking info, etc., and when I called in last I was given an order number, that is apparently, incorrect!...this is company that tries to blame the customer for their problems--the fact that I have an incorrect order number is according to them my fault. Talk about being caught in catch-22. They are also verbablly abusive on the phone---something which I do not tolerate in my life, none the less in a business transaction.
Still have not received items purchased, and have put it in dispute on my credit card.
Wish I had found this internet site a few days ago!
Digitally Discovered has failed to provide an email with invoice and tracking info, inspite of numerous requests via phone and email. THey offered many 'special deals' on the phone, which is why a wanted a written copy...have since canceled the order via email and notified by credit card company--although it showed they have charged the product pending....only hope I can cancel this without major headaches and costs."
"Save yourself, time frustration and anguish. DO NOT purchase anything from this company. In fact tell anyone and everyone about what you are about to read about this company. Not just from me but from many others. On July 19th I placed an order (over the phone)for a fuji digital camera and was told the product was in stock. The next day i received an e-mail telling me that I would receive and e-mail with the tracking number. Well after 3 days, I received an e-mail telling me (same as everyone else) that due to product allocation.... it would be another 7-10 days. After the 7 days I called and spoke with Brian Peterson, who is suposed to be in charge of customer relations, (and who was quite rude, like most of the people I spoke with there) and he told me that to call back on tues (aug. 3) and the product would be being sent out by then.
Lo and behold I called and was told over the phone that due to product allocation..... (same bs) that it would take another 7-10 days. At that point I realized they had no intention of sending the product (I din't buy there highly marked up worthless extras)so I cancelled the order. I will buy the camera for a higher price (I am sure of that) but from a honest and respectable establishment. I also have full intensions of contacting New York State's Attorney Genral office and informing them of this scam. Its a shame and embrassment the type of people who work in these places, who knowingly deceive people. A pox on them and their families. Adding a few things here: Digitallydiscovered also goes by the name of capturepix located at 1312 44th st Brooklyn NY 111204. Another set of crooks to stay away from are: A+M photo, Broadway photo, and Digital Liquidators all located at 2922 Avenue L Room 2 Brooklyn NY 11210. All are run by a suppose pius religious unethical businessmen"
"I was looking for the canon S50. I found it on there site "Brand New" for $309. After I ordered I got a sales call and added a warranty and "Hi-Speed" 128mb compact flash card. When I received my order that box was not factory sealed, and the camera looked like it had been handled. The 128mb card I ordered was some after market brand (PQI) and not a hi end card like I was promised, it was also not hi-speed. The 32mb OEM card that came with the camera was also changed out for an aftermarket card. I called and was treated very rudly once they found out I was trying to get a refund. I got hung up on a few times, and then told that they would refund me $13 dollars!! I sent the item back and put in a dispute with American Express. Do not buy anything from these people, it will not be a pleasant experience. Its a bait and switch. Like all those 42nd street electronic stores in NY."
"I tried to order from this merchant, but he was suddenly out of stock on the camera I wanted once he realized I was not going to order any accessories from him.
This merchant tried the same number on me last week.
Don't believe the prices on thier cameras because they have no intention of selling the camera without selling a load of high margin accessories with it."
"I have to agree with these other reviews. I bought from these people, and was sold several extras(that I found elsewhere for much less), so I returned some items on 5/19/04, and am still waiting for a credit on them, over a month later. As was stated in another review, they must own shotcartusa, because I put in two bad reviews on stores listed there, and neither of the reviews have ever come up. Well, I am getting those reviews done now!!!!!!!!!"
"I watched the posted pricing for the Fuji FinePix F700 by many retailers for several months before choosing Digtally Discovered for lowest price. After placing the order for the camera, advertised as in stock, I started receiving e-mail notices of delays in completing my order. In the meantime, the web site was raising the price on the camera and declaring it in stock. They had no intension of filling my order for the camera only at the low price, but would have done so if I had ordered their high-priced accessories (extra battery, flash memory card, charger) along with the camera. I cancelled my order and went with another vendor - after looking at ResellerRatings reviews on them."
"I called this company on a Friday afternoon to check availability of a digital camera. I was calling on behalf of a friend who is visiting from the Ukraine who wanted/needed a camera for her visit. The representative confirmed that he had quite a few "in stock" and that shipping would be prompt on the following Mon./Tues.
We immediately ordered the camera online. The following Tuesday, I recieved an email that the camera was being shipped to Digitally Discovered from the "main warehouse" - (BS) - and that it would be an additional 7-10 business days before the camera would be shipped. This is leading to a delay of close to half of the visitor's trip before she receives her camera.
These folks have great career prospects politics. They evidently lied to me about the availability of the camera and the shipping date. I would not have ordered from them if they had been candid about the camera. I will not order from them again and urge extreme caution to anyone who does.
Best,
Mark Stein"
"Do not order from this company. You will save yourself a lot of headaches. I had to call this company several times (They keep you on-hold forever). I received order confirmation emails from DIGITALLY DISCOVERED.COM , DIGICAM (which is another name they go by). Bottom line is, I never received my order. My advice is, buy from a reputable company."
"These guys are a joke... Hopefully people thinking about ordering from them will see all these bad reviews. We placed our order and the next day we got a phone call from them wanting to sell us an overpriced warranty. We declined and they were very rude and hung up on us. After waiting 10 days we and not receiving out Canon a80 we decided to look into it. I checked our credit card balance and they had not charged us yet.. We called them three times and every time they were rude. Just about the most unprofessional customer service I have ever delt with. They told us they would send us a tracking number via email. Guess what we never received an email from them. After a few days of this we decided to cancel our order with them. It is a good thing they never charged us, hopefully they won't decide to charge us and not send the camera.. DO NOT ORDER ANYTHING FROM THESE CROOKS. "
"This place and all the other names this company goes by is nothing but a con-game.
I attempted to purchase from this company which goes by more than 35 different names. This is a NY mill designed to separate money from people. Under no circumstances will they sell you a popular item at the price they advertise on their web-site without requiring that you also purchase unwanted add-ons or un-needed warrantees.
They go by more than 35 different company names and even own their rating system called ShopCartUSA. They post their own reviews for make-believe purchases to many of their company web-sites. They no longer allow any negative reviews to be posted, only their shill positive reviews thats why there are no dates on the reviews.
They go by other names such as Royal Camera, A&M, Digital Liquidators and Broadway Photo. For a complete list of their shell companies check-out ShopCartUSA.
This place is a scam and should be avoided at all cost. I challenge anyone to purchase a popular product at the low price shops listed, and actually have it arrive at your doorstep for the price advertised without upgrading.
I hope resellerratings posts this review because consumers need to be made aware of these types of disreputable people and businesses."
"Order placed easily, then high pressure phone call to try and sell accessories. When I wouldn't buy any accessories, they said okay and I waited for the order. Over the course of a MONTH, I received a half dozen updates telling me of delays. I called and talked to live customer service people who repeatedly told me the product was shipping, then on my follow-up call I got more excuses. Finally, since I wasn't going to voluntarily cancel my order, they told me the camera was no longer available. Olympus verified the camera was available and when confronted with this fact, digitallydiscovered's customer support people told me to "Go to Hell" your order was canceled last week. They are using low prices to lure customers, then trying to "up sell" over-priced accessories they don't need and when you don't buy, they won't ship."
"Canceled Order without telling me!!
I ordered the SOny TRV38 camcorder online at digitally discovered.com and after I know customer service is horrible with all the Bronx NY online photo retailers. But after talking to them and verifying my credit card info they sent me an email a day later and said that the product would ship from the warehouse and take an extra 7-10 bus days to ship. When I called to ask what the actual date was they told me the order was canceled by them - with no notice to me!!!! Horrible!!"
"I agree with everyone else. You can never get an answer from them. They keep lying to you and when you call them they just put you on hold and ignor you. I have never been able to get more than five or six words in on a conversation before I was put on hold again. Three weeks into this and I have no camera and can not get them to give me a tracking number from UPS. This is such a scam. Take it from someone who read all the bad reviews and purchased from them anyway, DON'T DO IT!"
"ordered digital camera on 2/11, credit card information taken, sent 6 e-mails for confirmation of item with no reply, contacted customer service, was given the run around, call this number , etc. contacted customer service over a 6 day period for information on my order,I was told it would be emailed to me - no reply. called again was belittled, again no answers on my order. DO NOT ORDER FROM THIS SELLER, THIS COMPANY IS A FRAUD. "
