So I called the customer service of Discount AC Parts.. The person I spoke to immediately told me he was not a mechinc..and he knew nothing about how to install the compressor..I had asked to speak to someone who did....and nothing ...he may have been a complete idiot ..I have no idea and don't care to know I still have the ac unit and am having it checked out before I have to take further action.. I didn't need his attitude nor did I need is denial that there is a problem as he had said this is there biggest seller and they don't have returns on it. and also he told me that I should not be working on the unit as they suggest a qualified mechanic ..THE REASON I BOUGHT THIS FROM THEM IS SO THAT I could replace it ..I would tell anyone who asked to never by anything from them, also to tell their friends. "

"UPDATE: After having my mechanic find out that the clutch was damaged in delivery (see below for more details) I called the company to get a replacement. I was told that I had to wait for mine to be shipped back to receive a new one. The customer service guy would not let me speak to a manager. He asked me what he could do and I told him I needed a new one shipped to me and he said no, and would not let me speak to a manager. I could have gone to NAPA and had a new part replaced and on it's way the next day. I'm now returning it for my money back and going down to pay for one to be sent to me from a local company rather than waiting for the return process. I would have paid twice if they offered it, until the damaged one arrived back from me. They have horrible service, unless you can speak with a manager. I have been very fair and so has Eric-Manager, but not there regular customer service guys. The price is now way over the $40 I would have saved over a local store. I now have to go to UPS to ship it back, + gas to drive there, new Freo for a second install, new labor for removal and install of the second compressor, a new receiver dryer bc FL humidity is so high and bad for the system to be opened again, and all the time I spent dealing with this company. My first review started out as a 1 star and after speaking with Eric I changed it to 5 stars, now I am at 2 star only because of Eric's help, you decide if that rating is fair given my experience, and the poor product received, and options available to received a working part in a timely manner. A deposit for a second working unit until mine arrived would have been wise on their part.
Beginning of experience:
The manager was helpful. The very heavy compressor showed up in a box only wrapped in thick construction paper. The wheel the belt rolls on was bent. They said it was damaged in route, and they have to file a claim with UPS. I saw that scenario turning into weeks before I got a working AC. They offered a refund with no shipping cost to me. I sent pictures to my mechanic and he is going to see if he can bend it straight or exchange the old wheel and they said they would warranty that and give me a discount. This option was great so that I wouldn't have to wait longer for things to be fixed or exchanged. The shipping was fast and the company was helpful once I spoke to a manager. They also offered a very good discount, I said it was too much and just asked for 10% off if my mechanic can fix it. This was much better vs the price of my time, dealing with customer service, scheduling UPS, and rescheduling the mechanic to get a new part. They seem to be a business looking out for their customers once you ask for a manager if you have a problem. The original customer service guy was very nice though as well, just had no authority. Hopefully the mechanic can fix it and I'll have AC in two days and they will have made a few bucks; a win-win for all. The manager said he would talk to the distributor to package things better. I did get it in one day so I see using that distributor as a benefit, so overall shipping was poor. "

"My A. C. went out in my 1997 Chevey Truck over a year ago. I took it to a well known auto repair shop and was told it would cost me $1500.00 or more to put in a new one. As I did not have that kind of money at the time. I told them I would have to wait.
A friend of mind told me about a lady who had purchased a A. C. for her car on line. It cost her $100.00. So when I got home I looked and found discountacparts and found a entire A. C. kit for $265.00, so I ordered it. 3 days later I came home from work and it was on the porch. I called another mechanic, that was recommened to me, and he installed it the following Monday for $100.00. My son no longer complains about my truck be hot. Now he keeps asking me to turn down the A. C. as he is cold. Its now going 2 weeks and thus far could not be happier!!"
