And they DON'T show you who is subscribed or when they've last logged in. So you could be writing a very thoughtful message to someone and there's a 90% chance they never even read it/can't respond to it. Basically they're using the subscribers as bait."

First - everyone on there is serious (you have to pay to play), Second - their matching algorithm means you only see people for whom you are potentially a match - vs. everyone in the data base leaving you with waaaay too many people to distract you from those you may actually have a future with. And Fourth by only showing you a handful of potential matches each day you can put thought into it vs. being overwhelmed.
