"AVOID this company - they have crappy products and even worse service, characterized by dishonesty and “to hell with the customer” attitudes. I purchased an "OEM Equivalent" projector bulb from Electrified Discounters (“ED”) to replace a Sharp AN100LP bulb, and the ED bulb came with a 60 day warranty. I also purchased a three-year, two-bulb Mack Camera extended warranty from them for $170. They delayed on shipping so that my 3-day UPS shipping upgrade arrived at the same time that UPS Ground would have, plus they overcharged on insurance, factoring in the cost of the extended warranty in the insurance charge (which is ridiculous since a warranty is an intangible that cannot be lost or damaged - they can simply contact Mack for a new warranty card). They refused to issue any sort of refund for the shipping delays or the insurance overcharge. The bulb turned out to be low quality, giving me problems with starting up and then it died after 9 wks, one week after the 60 day warranty expired, after 150 hours of use (with an expected lifespan of 2000-3000 hours and a cost of $260 – a lifespan of less than 10% of a factory bulb is hardly a factory “equivalent”).

I contacted them to see if they would stand behind their product so I would not have to use up one of my two bulbs provided by the extended warranty only one week into the start of the extended warranty and the customer service person was rude and hung up on me when I asked if they would stand behind their product. I called back and left a message for the CS manager to call me back about the bad service I had just received, but after a week, no one called me back. I called them again and spoke to Ivy Hadden, the CSM, who lamely told me she was going to call me back but had not yet gotten around to it (sure you were, Ivy). She initially told me that if I had not purchased an extended warranty, they might be able to do something for me, but since I had, I would have to rely on the extended warranty. When I asked her why they would treat me differently and worse if I had purchased the extended warranty, she suddenly changed her story and denied she had ever said Electrified Discounters would take care of me if I had not purchased the extended warranty. This was a blatant lie. She then refused to provide me with a new bulb to replace the defective ED bulb they had sold me and told me I had to contact Mack and rely on the extended warranty.

On another review website, there are hundreds of short, nearly identical 5/5 positive reviews of ED that are all written by persons who joined that website for the sole purpose of writing a positive review of Electrified Discounters (and who never wrote another review thereafter – not something that is at all representative of that site, since most one-review reviewers post negative reviews and most people that write positive reviews go on to write a number of other reviews, not just that single one). It's the same here – almost all of the 5/5 reviews here are short and written by someone who apparently joined this website for the sole purpose of leaving a 5/5 review for ED and has never written another review here. If you read some of the negative reviews, you'll see that ED refuses to issue refunds when it ships defective products, sells gray-market goods without advertising them as such, and tells the customer to go to hell if they complain about genuinely false and inaccurate advertising on the ED website. It is inconceivable to me that with customer service policies like this, that they could have over a 9.7/10 overall rating here on this website if every review and rating was posted by an actual customer. You are free to form your own conclusions, but I strongly suspect that the substantial majority of ED's positive reviews on this website are the work of ED employees writing shill reviews.

A significant portion of what ED sells are replacement projector and projection TV bulbs and most are their own refurbished "OEM equivalent" bulbs. I was told by the manufacturer of my projector that they get many, many complaints about short bulb life from people who buy these cheap Chinese refurbished bulbs like the one I bought from ED and if you read A/V message boards, there are many complaints about non-OEM bulbs with experiences similar to what I had with my bulb purchased from ED. If you are tempted to buy one of their low-cost bulbs, just beware of the fact that you are running a high risk that your $200-$400 purchase will be low quality and ED may give you as bad service as they gave me.

"I can't say enough good things about this transaction. They had my DLP bulb at a low price that NO ONE else was close to,and got it to me a day earlier that expected. My bulb went out 10 pm on a Monday night ... I went online and found them ...and by Wednesday afternoon 430 I was watching TV again.Nobody is happier than my 3 year old son ! EXCELLENT experience!"
