"I ordered the Mayline 7261A straightedge and paid extra for the faster shipping. The choices are free (4-7 business days) and $40 (3-4 business days). It seems like a lot for potentially only 1 day saving but it was required for a certain class, and we only found out with a few days before the class. The payment does not change the time before it is shipped which is 7-14 days. I called and the explanation was good and agreed with the stated policy, but they were not able to ship by air and not able to expedite. I will get the item on Monday, 12 days later so i should not complain.
But with Amazon and guaranteed free 2 day shipping, and larger stores offering fast shipping this kind of shipping for stock items, even if they need kitting or assembly feels really long.
The item is a requirement for many Architecture courses and prices range from $130 to $299 on line (not on amazon), so I give credit to Engineering Supply for keeping the price down and keeping to the quoted lead time. I feel that this delivery speed won't be good enough next year. "
