"I, too, was scammed just like everyone else -- my story is the same, so I'm not going to bother with a recount.
Here's the important thing -- by myself, the dollars involved are not enough that it would be economically reasonable to hire a lawyer or to travel to New York for a small claims judgment (which I understand is practically optional to pay). But I have contacted several lawyers trying to generate interest in a CLASS ACTION LAWSUIT. We do qualify to file such a suit, according to the rules. Taking the average amount of loss for all the complaints posted, it's approximately $1500 per claim. The BBB has 269 complaints lodged against Furniture Brands Group, of which, 189 are unresolved. This calculates to about $300,000 of our money lost to Al and Suzie (and now Kathy of shopsmartfurniture). And that is only the people who went to the trouble to file a complaint with the BBB. I would guess there are even more of us out here. Punitive damages apply if we can prove fraud -- and if you are like me, there is no doubt in your mind we could. Punitive damages are to punish and set an example for other companies, and in this world of Internet reliance, I think it would be likely awarded. Punitive damages are 4 to 10 the amount of actual damages, making this case worth ... you do the math, but minimum of 1 million dollars.
Unfortunately, class actions are a very specialized area of law and take a large initial investment by the lawyer to get off the ground (this is why most class actions are against a huge corporation for tens of millions of dollars). The lawyer is paid by winning and takes 25-30% of the judgment. Sounds fair enough to me -- and I hope to generate interest by pointing out the dollars amounts in our case. No, it’s not $10M, but it is a worthy paycheck. Eventually, we will get a lawyer."
"My worst online experience ever. They have stolen over 3.5K from me and I have no way to get it back. All of the other stories are dead on. If anyone would like their contact information please reply to this post and let me know. I have been calling them 25+ times per day for the past three days. I don't know how they can live with themselves ripping people off every day. This is a huge scam."

Furniture Brands Group and all their websites Complaint
Not the last victim of FBG's Internet Scam - Furniture
Reported by mamacat58 on 04/12/2008 - New Jersey - 545 8th Ave, NYC, NY
On Oct. 27, 2007 I purchased a Pulaski Bakers Rack, $1469.00 using my Amex on www.oneclickfurniture.com. Free shipping and delivery in 6-8 weeks. Two days later they charged my account. Around Dec. I started calling Suzie Walker to find out about delivery, I was told it was backordered. I kept calling and emailing and I would get all different stories of why my shipment wasn't being delivered. In Feb. they said I would get my shipment in 5-7 days. Kept calling and was about to cancell the order,Suzie offered me a 75.00 credit upon delivery. Knowing full well I was never getting it. In March I was told again I would be getting delivery on the 22nd. I finally called Suzie for the hundredth time and she said they are waiting for the truck to get filled up and I would receive it April 25. I was angry and told her to cancell. She was fine with that. A little while later she emails me:"We have attempted to electronically refund your account for your cancelled order. However since we do not use the electronic terminal we once used to bill you, we were unsuccessful. Please contact the customer service number on the back of your card or your issuing bank (for debit cards) and initiate an inquiry. Once we receive the documentation we will answer it accordingly and your funds will be returned to you directly. Unfortunately at this time this is the only way your funds will be returned to you." I called Amex and they said it was passed the 60 day refund period, but will open a dispute. No guarantees I will get a refund. I went to the complaint boards and was astonished to see how many victims of Al Carter and Suzie Walker there are. New victims everyday are out of their merchandise and their money. Reading some of the complaints I found out that they go under so many different websites that look legitamate,Furniture sites as well as home improvement sites, no tax, no shipping charges. I have written to the Attorney General, IC3, Federal Trade Commission, Consumer Affairs, Fraud.org, AOL, Amex, Better Business Bureau, my local Police Dept (filed a report) and every complaint board I can find as well as 7 on your side and Dateline. I had spoken to a NY detective and FBG"s IP address goes back to Guitar City in the MIddle East. I have nothing better to do with my time right now than to pursue their demise legally and publically. They are the worst kind of preditor on the internet. I continue to get emails from new victims everyday. I feel bad for them and myself. FBG has made thousands of dollars off of consumers. It seems other victims have also written to these agencies and nothing is being done. All I hear is that they get emails and phone calls everyday about internet fraud. Well what can we do about it? We need to get these crooks into handcuffs and behind bars. This is America, we can't let this happen to our people. Please help if you can.

"I ordered on Nov. 1 2007. Same story as the rest. Phone call after phone call. Excuse and lie after the other. Finally I read this review and canceled my order. I did get one card so far to credit me back. They have their own financing through ge capital- amazing!!! How does a company like ge capital not know that this is going on and / or continue to participate anyway. Why are these people not in jail? I reported them to NY AG, BBB, Verisign (on their site) American Drew (furniture mfg)and GE Capital (their finance company) If anyone decides on a class action suit. Count me in. "
"I placed an order for a Curio cabinet ($1,899.00) in July 2007. I was told 6-8 weeks after that time I started calling to find out where my cabinet was. I was then told it had been sent to the the shipping company, called the shipping company...never heard of my order. The called Everyday again and was told by Suzie that the cabinet had been discontinued and would be getting a credit on my charge card...after NO credit for 3 months they say to contact my credit card company....there is NOTHING they can do because it has been so long!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
DO NOT NOT NOT order from this company! "

"I am so embarrassed that I fell for this scam, but, I did. Same story as the rest. Placed an order and was immediately charged. Was advised that product would ship within 6-8 weeks. When 6 weeks rolled around, I checked on the item. Was advised it was delayed for another 3-4 weeks. Called again, and was advised it was discontinued. Refund to be processed within 5-10 days. Obviously this organization is charging consumers and hoping that they will wait to investigate beyond the time that a credit card company will perform fraud research so they get to keep our hard earned dollars. Please do not end up like me. There are several stores under the umbrella of Furniturebrandsgroup.com and it sounds as if all of them are doing the same thing. "
"I placed an order on 9/26/2007 for a bedroom set. The total came out to 1992.00. They charged my credit card the next day. They promise I would have my furniture in 6 weeks the lastest 8 weeks. It's now 10 weeks and still "No" furniture! I called everyday for the last 2 weeks and spoke with Al and Suzie. I kept getting the same answer everyday that Your order has been released on 11/30, and is currently scheduled for immediate pick up. Once picked up your order will be brought to Alpha & Omega’s warehouse for inspection, tagging and final delivery. They told me to call the warehouse # ***-***-**** and schedule a deliverly date with them. I called the warehouse on 12/5 12/6 and this morning. They have no record of any furniture in my name. I just got off the phone with American Express and I'm hoping I can get a full refund. "
"Placed an order for headboads. Was suppose to ship in a few days. They kept extending ship date to the point I cancelled the order. When we placed the order the amount was posted to our credit card immediately. Was told a refund was being issued. Still haven't received it. Lodged a complaint with the Attorney General and BBB. The amount is in dispute with my credit card issuer."
"UPDATE FROM ITS1929AGAIN - I just received this blanket email from the clowns at EverdayFurnishings.com. LOL! The funny thing is, I canceled my order 2 months ago and have even finally received a credit back on my card...yet they still have me in their crooked system like I'm anxiously awaiting their bs furniture. The sad thing is, not one person or agency I contacted ever bothered to get back with me...The system is rotten and the Al's and Suzie's of the world are dragging the whole thing down. Here's hoping they both die a painful death from cancer real soon...Yes I mean it, and if you're honest with yourself, so do you.
Here's the scums' latest email:
We have been contacted by the factory regarding your order. We have been informed that due to the impeding weather in the east causing delays with factory trucking, the holiday employee schedules, and end of year inventory, they will not be shipping orders out from their warehouse for the rest of the year. We have been advised that your order will proceed as normal starting the first week of January. We apologize for the delay and appreciate your understanding. We strive for customer satisfaction and would like to do whatever it takes to keep you happy. Should you have any questions or concerns regarding this or any other mater do not hesitate to call us. "
"To all the victims of Everyday Furnishings.com, AKA: One Click Furniture, Accent Warehouse.com, Bedroom Plaza.com, Dinettes Galore.com, Great to be a Kid.com, Living Rooms n More.com, Rack it and Stack it.com, Tick Tock Shop.com, Strictly Chairs.com, Sofa Showplace.com....ALL by the way, under the umbrella "company" of FURNITURE BRANDS GROUP....
I've been scammed too....never before in my life have I been scammed, this is a first. Let's get them....please file HONEST complaints on all the consumer complaint websites out there, so they don't steal money from anyone else.
If you have been scammed, please don't wait to file a "no receipt of merchandise" dispute with your credit card company, because if you let too much time go by your credit card can't help you, and guess who gets to keep your money.
Also, file a report with the NEW YORK ATTORNEY GENERAL'S office...
All of the "businesses" I've listed above, run out of the same address of 545 8th St., Ste. 401 in New York City. I've got a NY TV news person working on my story right now for fraud, and working up a story on "online furniture scams". They need to go to jail. I will never use my credit card online, EVER AGAIN."
"Ordered glass table top on 8/23, credit card was charged on 8/27. Never received it. Keep being told, it's shipping "soon" "tomorrow" "yesterday" "is on back order" and then when canceled a month later no credit issued to my credit card. Every time I call, it's a different story. Should be investigated for fraud."
"First off, we FINALLY received our order and are happy with the merchandise. With that being said, I would highly recommend avoiding this store at all costs. Where do I start...
We ordered six bar stools and were quoted a delivery time of 4-6 weeks. Our order took over 13 weeks to arrive. Over the course of those 13 weeks I was anxiously trying to understand what was going on with my order and learned that this company has the absolute worst customer service of any company I've ever dealt with.
I contacted them by phone on nine separate occasions. On three of those occasions I left a voice message and requested a return call. I never received any return calls or responses of any kind.
If you think that's bad, what's even worse is that on the other six calls in which I actually spoke with a customer service representative, at the end of the calls the representative actually told me that someone would "call me tomorrow". Nobody ever called me. Not once.
Furthermore, the customer service representative that I spoke with numerous times on the phone wouldn't let me get a word in edge-wise. She constantly interrupted me in an effort to get me off the phone. It got to the point where I had to ask her to stop talking and please let me get my questions and concerns out without being interrupted.
On one day I called them twice in the same day and was given two different answers as to why my furniture was not yet delivered. And these conflicting answers came from the same person! I didn't know what to say at that point...
On three occasions I was so fed up I asked to speak to a manager. The first time I was transferred to a voice mail account and left a message that was never returned. The second and third times I specifically stated that I didn't want a voice mail account but a live person. On the first of these occasions I was placed on hold and after about ten minutes was dumped into a voice mail box. On the second of these occasions I was hung up on.
I could go on and on about the insincerity and lack of helpfulness of their customer service but you get the point. Don't order from this company unless you're willing to accept the complete and utter lack of professionalism and customer service.
Finally, in all fairness I guess I should reiterate that we did finally receive our merchandise and we are happy with both the merchandise and the price we paid for it. However, I will never order from this company again regardless of the merchandise they offer or the price at which they offer it."
"Buyer Beware!!!!! This is a horrible company. I don't know how they stay in business. We ordered a chest from them in June only to find out in August that it was discontinued. They didn't tell us, we had to fight to talk to a supervisor that finally told us. No one ever answered the customer service line and our calls were most often dropped. We are still waiting for a refund. We have filed a report with the Better Business Bureau and filed a discrepancy with our credit card. I will always check Better Business Bureau for buying merchandise again. There should be a law against businesses like this."
"This company will steal your money. We made a large furniture purchase in April and they never told us the items were discontinued. We are still fighting with them for a refund!"
