"After seeking professional advice on the reason my water heater was no longer working, I purchased a HS780 17NL -304A Ignition control module for our Rheem hot water heater from Famous Parts and fitted it myself.

Unfortunately the water heater would still not work so I called in another plumber.

After checking everything and me insisting it was not the control module. The plumber replaced the module with another new one. The water heater immediately started to function correctly.

The next day I contacted Famous Parts to get an RMA number to return the defective part. I've contacted them twice more. No reply.

I don't expect them to pay my plumbers bill. I'd just like a refund for the defective part.

Very disappointed at the total non response and, of course I'll never, ever, buy from them again....

And as the saying goes....when you're happy, tell three people. When you're not tell 30 - or 3 million.

By shear coincidence we had purchased a house in Casa Grande. Therefore, around February 15th 2011 I delivered the defective part to the Famous Parts office. I met Mr XXXX the owner and the conversation was cordial. He took back the part but stated in his opinion there was nothing wrong with it and that I and (I assume) the professional plumber did not know how to install it. Anyhow he stated the purchase price would be refunded to my paypal account as he typed away on his computer.

About 10 minutes later, Mr XXXXX called me and asked if I would revise my review of the transaction. I said I would as I was generally pleased with the meeting despite his explanation of the issue and he had stated my monies would be refunded. I further asked if he would send me a link to the URL as I had a different computer with me than the one I had used to write the original review. He said he would.

Well he never sent the link and never refunded my money even though I hand delivered the defective part back to his office.

"This was my first time buying from FamousParts.com I don't do a lot of online shopping so obviously I was leary at first. I had a GREAT BUYING EXPERIENCE and will definately return in the future when I need a part again.

I was looking for a Robertshaw Ignition Control (Model#HS780 17NL-304A, Part#SP10758) for my Rheem Power Vent water heater. Their description, price & picture of the part on their web page was spot on, when my part arrived, it was exactly as they described it, no hidden surprises. Everything they said was true...even the free next day air shipping. I really didn't expect to see the part the next day because I was ordering sort of late in the day in my opinion. I placed the order at 3PM CST (I live in WI) and by 10 AM the next morning UPS had my part on my door step. I was very happy.

What was really nice is the e-mails I received from FamousParts giving me status updates on my order.

I placed my order at 3:00 PM CST, at 3:08 PM I received an e-mail with my order confirmation and a link to check on the current status of my order, at 4:27 PM received another e-mail stating I would be receiving a shipping tracking number soon, at 6:35 PM I received that e-mail with my UPS tracking number, at 10 AM the next morning UPS had my part on my door step! I was VERY IMPRESSED! Thanks FamousPars for making me feel more confident about making online purchases and thanks for getting me my part so quickly, I installed it that same night and it works great, Woo Hoo hot water again."

"1.) The online catalog is easy to use and provides adequate information about each item listed.
2.) This order was shipped and received very quickly.
3.) Communication and updates concerning the order were excellent.
4.) HOWEVER, one item - 15 /20 MFD. 440 VAC Dual
Oval Motor Run Capacitor @ $34.47 - has not yet been received. Although it is listed on the invoice as shipped, it was not in the package. On the packing slip, it was marked as B/O in black felt marker.
5.) I emailed the company TWICE about this missing item, and also offered to fax them a copy of the packing slip, and received NO RESPONSE. I'm not in a big rush for the cap, but a response would be nice.
6.) At this point, I want either the part I ordered or a refund of $34.47 plus shipping for that item.

Update on 9/20/10: The backordered capacitor has been received by me, and has been installed. I didn't need it all that quickly, and backorders happen, but I would have been happy with a short note to let me know it was on backorder, would be shipped when they got it, etc.
