What I received was a region locked key that can only be activated in China (might be whole Asian region, not sure). The first support person I had to deal with wasn't very helpful and probably had no information regarding the region lock. However the second support person instantly told me to try using China VPN, so this couldn't have been a mistake and was most probably intentional because game keys are cheaper there. "
