"Ordered a number of items, including two wetsuits, from G&T over the past three years. I found that service really deteriorated in 2011. Their business model appears to be to charge their customers right away -- even if the merchandise turns out not to be in stock (which has happened to me more than once) and to drag their heels for many weeks before issuing a credit for returned merchandise (I let AMX handle). In addition, delivery can be extremely slow (8 weeks and counting on a pending order) and repeated e-mails to customer service have gone unanswered. At this point, my patience has run out and I will take my business elsewhere. G&T's discounts are an insufficient incentive to deal with such aggravation."
"Same problems as everyone else with ordering and such. They said Lake MX302's were in stock. They hit my card immediately for the product and shipping, three weeks later I began hounding them and the boots showed up a week and a half later in the wrong size/not the size I ordered. They said I had to return them but reorder new size. not a great way to handle their error. I said no. Shipped the wrong ones back on my dime. I had shipping confirmation. I waited a week for the credit and nothing. Started the phone calls. Spoke with Stephen, the owner, finally. Did have a long/positive talk with him and the importance of just being honest as he was giving me the run around about stock and so on he agreed that honesty was a better policy. Finally, after 3 more weeks and threats of calling my CC company they gave me the credit back for the original order.
One thing to note, at least in cycling shoes, they do not carry many of the brands they used to. I would assume this is due to the related problems with supply and demand...and flat out lying. My advice is to stay away. I DO believe they can supply some items as advertised...but there are plenty they cannot and are very deceptive about this. "

No confirmation of shipment, no product, and no response whatsoever. At this point, I have re-ordered the product through another vendor and have been unable to get a refund. "
"Was billed on the day of the order, for an item that was not in stock (no indication of this on their website). In response to an email inquiry I sent, the owner of the company apologized, said the item was now available and would ship the next day. That was 2 weeks ago. No response at all to subsequent emails, and calls always go straight to voicemail. A frustrating, all-around terrible experience. Worth spending a few extra bucks to deal with a competent and honest business instead."
"I purchased a group coupon for myself and 1 gift coupon through livingsocial for GearAndTraining.com.
The coupon I gifted was used and the order received approximately 2 weeks after ordering. Not bad, but not the quickest turnaround for "in-stock items"
My order has had numerous problems. I ordered 6 items, all of which were marked in-stock on the website. I received a confirmation e-mail, but nothing else for several weeks. I e-mailed asking questions twice with no responses.
I called several times and spoke with someone each time, that was nice, although not helpful in getting things done. After 3 weeks I received an e-mail that an item I ordered was not available, they asked to substitute another color. I ok'd that, and then received 4 of 6 items (NOT including the substituted item).
I am here now, waiting for 2 more (originally "in-stock") items after 4 weeks, quite disappointed. If I had not used a coupon deal I would have cancelled my order by now and never looked back."
"This company has received the order to there is not a stock either as a stock.
This company keeps not reporting the stockout and leaving the order.
It is not though the report from here is not connected at all, and either it inquires.
Negotiating with such a company should be useless, and make the credit company immediately do the compulsion refund procedure.
And, change the card number, and it is dangerous."
"What terrible customer service! I placed an order of a swim skin suit on May 2nd, here we are on June 6th and I still don't have a suit. I made at least 7 calls to them regarding my order and no one EVER returned my calls. I kept calling and finally got in touch with Steve who was "handling my order" and he swore to return my call the next day with an update on my order. That was two weeks ago today. My credit card company is now handling the dispute in order to get my $$ back."
"I ordered 2 boxes of Honey Stinger Waffles from Gear and Training back in May; Originally my order wouldn't process, so I called their customer service line and was told they would call me within the hour. Later that night, I finally heard back. Miffed, but glad they had called eventually, I went ahead and bought the items. I recieved a "purchase confirmation" email, for the shipping costs (I had originally used a Handlebargains.com coupon, $20 for a $40 coupon deal) which came to $10.13. 3 weeks later, I had not recieved a shipping confirmation email or my package. I called their customer service line, and was told that they would check... but could they call me back?
I started to read review after review online of this business, all from customers lamenting the same woes. Uneasy, I called the Handlebargains manager and left a message, thinking I wouldn't hear back for a while, just as with Gear and Training. To my surprise, I received a phone call within minutes and the manager, whose name I can't recall, ensured me that he would personally be handling my concerns and would call Gear and Training himself. He said he would meet with his Customer Service manager to find out if there were other complaints of this nature regarding this particular business. He also said that, if Gear and Training could not ship within the next business day, or were out of stock, he would immediately refund me for my coupon purchase and would call me anyway to confirm what was going on.
This experience has left me with a sour taste in my mouth for the Gear and Trianing company. I will not be buying from them again. However, my confidence in and respect for the Handlebargains website has more than doubled and I WILL be a repeat customer, considering this whole experience.
All in all, Gear and Training is, without a doubt, a lousy business. Handlebargains is an example of an amazing one."
"I purchased some Nuun tablets to help with my marathon training a few weeks ago. The price was good compared to other sites. I went ahead and purchased them and they process the order almost immediately. But then 2 weeks went by and I received neither a tracking number nor an update on the shipment. I emailed them and left a voicemail during the third week requesting an update. Nothing, finally and email comes through saying they no long have the product. If you don't have the product, why would you charge my credit card? They said they were sorry if I didn't receive the email saying they didn't have the product. I asked them to forward the email, no response. Why, because chances are they never sent an email! So, after more calls and emails asking for a refund, I finally contacted my credit card company to step in. I left another message the following week asking for a refund and if it didn't happen I was going to charge them with fraud. Finally, a second email saying they never received my request for a refund. Lies again! Finally after 5 weeks they refunded my money. Don't believe the 5 star ratings, I am almost sure it's probably someone who works there who is writing false reviews to get you to spend your money there. Stay clear of this place!!!!!!"

I ordered a Carrier Chariot, 700$ and pay extra money for a fast 2 night shipping. They never shipped the equipment and claimed by three time they will refund me. Now, I engaged Mastercard to get my money back. I do a lot of business via Internet and I will never do business with them again. This is FRAUD."
"I ordered a Blue Seventy Swim Skin on April 1st. The online statement said billed and shipped. By April 10th, the item still had not arrived. I contaced Gear and Training Customer Service via email and received no response. I called and was told I would receive a call back from the manager. No call. I called again (this is now in a span of 3 days) and told them I needed the item overnighted because of a race. She said she would check with the Blue Seventy rep. No response. I ordered with TriSports, as I never have a problem ordering with them. I had to cancel the order with Gear and Training because I was not going to recieve my product in a timely manner. Pathetic customer service. They were quick to take the money out of my account, though...just not quick to send the product!"
"i first discovered gear and training when searching for some winter ski apparel -- in particular i was looking for one item that was sold out everywhere else i looked. i was excited when i discovered the item (ski pants) on their site, and on sale!
unfortunately, the item ultimately turned out to be out of stock, but i received a personal phone call from the owner the next business day informing me of the situation and brainstorming with me on possible solutions. it really blew me away that he would call and spend so much time trying to make things right. ultimately, i did not make a purchase that time, but i was left with an appreciation for the knowledge and dedication of the real people behind this online storefront.
fast forward 3 months. another web search for an item led me back to gear and training's site. this time, they had a sale going on and delivered on a great price. when i realized i needed to add something to the order, it was no problem--i got a hold of a real person immediately, who responded with an order update.
i happened to receive a notification of a customer sale with a deeper discount. could it be applied to the order i'd made earlier that day? sure! add more items and still ship out at the same time? definitely!
cycling clothes can be tough to fit as manufacturers have wildly differing interpretations of sizing. to that end, i got great advice from the owner directly, and ultimately when i requested to have two sizes sent to me so i could keep the one i preferred it, too, was also no trouble at all.
i always felt valued as a customer during my interactions, and in the end i left with an appreciation for the fact that not only do they have rock-bottom pricing for *current* gear (there are probably better discounts out there if you're buying close-outs, but i've found no better for recent stuff), they also have great service to back it up.
thinking back a few months ago, i went from ecstatic when i thought those pants i was searching for were in stock to really bummed when i later learned they were not (it would have been easier if i'd never thought they were in stock at all). however, had that not occurred, i would not have ever spoken with the owner and had subsequent positive interactions with his team. i'm glad i returned and gave them the business--it's helped them, but in keeping an open mind i also got some great deals."
"I ordered a Chariot Corsaire bike trailer because the price at Gear and Training was $100 less than everywhere else. I had the best customer service throughout tue purchase. I received a call from the owner the same day letting me know that the trailer jad to ship from the manufacturer so it woukd take a little longer. They gave me timely updates, refunded the shipping costs since I had ordered 2 day shipping and that was not possible due to the need for the manufacturer to process the order, and then they followed up afterwards with a personal email. The product arrived on time and I am thrilled with it, the price, and the overall customer service. I will order from them a lot in the future!"
