"This was my first purchase through Glen's and it was GREAT. After recieving my duck bib overalls and jacket and boots i wore them for the next snow. I work for TDOT in Nashville TN and when it snows it is non stop round the clock action until it is over with. All of the other Mechanics in the shop noticed I was warm and comfortable and ready. All I did was bring up Glens web and they took it from there. The prices were better then TSC, GrandPa's, Co-Op, and Rual King. Shipping through Fed Ex and UPS was fast although the Fed Ex shippment was for the special Free and easy to track the UPS was delivered and I never could track it. But bottom line it was ordered on Monday Holiday and delivered at ordered by that Thursday."

"Whlle prices at this store are about 20% less than others, their inventory system falls short of adequate in running an on-line business. My purchase was for a Columbia Whirlibird Jacket. Here's what transpired:

Placed order on: 12/09/2010

I called Customer Service on: 12/22/2010.
Reply: Order never shipped, item in stock, will overnight via UPS.

Received package on: 12/24/2010. Incorrect product (received the Bugaboo Jacket)

I Called Customer Service: 01/03/2011. Whirlibird jacket out of stock and manufacturer out of stock for color ordered. I selected a color the manufacturer had in stock to substitute.

Return item sent on: 01/05/2011. Glen's paid for shipping as it was their error.

I called to follow up on: 01/07/2011. UPS confirmation that Store received returned item. Customer service now claims that manufacturer is out of stock for substitute color. Store policy is that order to manufacturer will be placed once returned item is recieved.
Option 1: Select a different Jacket.
Option 2: Process a refund.
This was a xmas gift! I selected a different jacket.

In short, while they may beat competitor prices by as much as 20%, their inventory system is not at all tied to their website and when out of stock for a particular color or size, the website does not reflect it. This gives the consumer a false sense of availability, and results in many disappointed customers. Many online retailers have live inventory and/or show only what is available, Glen's Outdoors needs to do the same.

However, I rate their customer service an A+. The representative gave me her name and told me to ask for her whenever I called. This is a nice touch as it eliminates the need to recount historical calls and details. The Rep. was very polite and sincere; and she tried everything she could to correct my order and remedy my situation. Unfortunately she is bound by store policy and was not able to satisfy my original order. In the end, I did get a jacket (valued at a higher price than the one I ordered), but considering what I had to go through, it was not worth the effort in my opinion."
